  • Don SHOULD HAVE a STAR and the ACADEMY AWARDS should have a category for BEST TRAILER VO. I had something in the hospital and he died when I was in the Hospital. He inpires me. I miss his VOICE on TRAILERS. Check out my channel. Don was the one who made me start all this.

  • Awwwww, I was soooo upset to hear about his death, as was my sister.

  • *sigh* A star is back where he actually belongs. In heaven. We're gonna miss you, Don!

  • So many voice-over people are posers. Don was the real thing. He invented modern movie trailers, he wrote, produced and created the form. RIP.

  • Well...Pablo Francisco could take a stab at being the new "voice"

  • Title win!

  • omg i cried at this :'( shame............i loved his voice......who's gonna do voiceovers for movies now? x R.I.P x

  • shame they never had a voice morph software for him

  • R.I.P don

  • He's a legend we all at least once tryed to do an immpression of his voice

  • This brought tears to my eyes. Trailers will never be the same. RIP Don

  • maybe a little late like over 1 year after his death , but anyway RIP Don LaFontaine , alot of people grew up with his voiceovers etc... RIP

  • WOW, this man is amazing. I have seen other people do the voice he does, but they don't even come close to what he can do. Movies will never be the same without his voice. I was inspired by his voice the first time i heard him, and after watching this video and others on youtube I'm even more amazed about his life story and how he became the voice for movies. My last words are going to be sympathies for his friends and family, and REST IN PEACE DON LAFONTAINE

  • What a wonderful tribute. I so miss his voice on the big screen. He is truly a legend. I never knew until now what a beautiful voice his wife has as well. The world won't be the same without "the voice" of the movies. Rest in peace Don.

  • Don LaFontaine has presumably worlds most famous voice through times.

  • this man is a legend, truly legendary. he will be missed and movies will never be the same

  • They should do what they did with tupac...

Get all his recordings word by word and recut new trailers in honour of his spectacular voice.. :)

  • we'll miss you man, movies will never be the same without you!! Rest in Piece

  • There is no way you can't love this guy....a staple of all of our lives...R.I.P my friend

  • r.i.p

    from Norway

  • is it just me, or does Don LaFontaine kinda look like Sean Connery a little?

anyway, RIP Don...the world will never forget you or your magic voice

  • The man ( Lafontaine ), is worth a star on hollywood boulevard.

  • @lebbing64 I SECOND THAT TO THE 1000th power! He does! We should start a movement to get that done! A Facebook mission or something!

  • @lebbing64 ABSOLUTELY!!

  • @lebbing64 yeah, mos deff!!!

  • I never knew he was dead they really need to put important things like this on the news.

  • Yeah, totally more important than M.J.

  • @inFamousHero123 It was lol

  • R.I.P. I Wonder What The Next Movie Trailer He'd Be Doing Right Now As We Speak If He Was Still Here, He Still Here With Us, In Pictures, Online,In Movie Trailers Ect. He'd Probably Up There In Heaven Looking Out Over Us All Doing Voice Overs For Us For Fun Lol. He Was An Awesome Guy.

    R.I.P Dude.

  • true true the man is the only voiceover to touch our hearts R .I.P don

  • theyve already replaced him. watch 'alvin and the chipmunks: the squeakquel' trailer. at the begining they have a man with a deep voice who is NOT don lafontaine.

  • R.I.P

  • awsome video. don was an incredible man.

  • haha, very humourous title. Only found out about don fonataine recently, and yet every film i like it seems has had a trailer voiced by him. Amazin....

  • R.I.P.

  • R.I.P.

  • Don will be missed greatly. I hope he found peace, and is announcing the afterlife with pride and joy.

  • He will be missed and remebered by us all.

  • Thanks for this, Sam. I fell in love with Mel Blanc in the 60's and have been intrigued with all voice-over actors since, most especially Don.

When he passed, I was shocked. I did a tribute post on a board I was on to little response. Isn't that the way?

This has given me some peace that others really understand and are in awe of the gift.

In a universe, where Don's spirit flies...

  • Thank you, Sam, for this video. Movie trailers are not the same with out Don. I miss hearing his voice. Condolences to Nita and their children.

  • It's been more then a year that I sent him my first e-mail, ralating the plesure that I had for knowing that a great professional lived as a great person.

He replied my e-mails himself since the first time I sent them. even knowing that I was just a humble brazilian fan, he gave me total attention and considered me so seriously, supporting me and saying that I should keep on trying to be a voice over.

And I'm gonna do it, JUST AS HE SAID!

  • God man, it happened so quick. movie trailers will suck now, I'll miss you Don!

  • Wonderful post Sam. Sadly, it looks like that position at Denny's that Don joked about opened up, eh?

You're missed Don. Enjoy what ever is in the afterlife for us all...we'll see you soon.

  • those were very beautiful words, it touches me how dearly he talks about his friend. RIP Don

  • RIP Don We All Miss You

  • i'm sorry is that 'Nita?

  • Dude...this is really sad. Very emotional. The music was a very nice touch. I really looked up to Mr. Fontaine. Blessings to the surviving family members. I knew something was wrong when he started appearing everywhere in interviews because he just seemed to be a guy who liked his privacy. Man this is a real blow to the movie industry. R.I.P. Don and thanks to Sam Harris for posting this! Stay strong bro! Cute chick by the way. Is this Rita??...

  • Don was verry close to me, i considerd him my god father, i miss him, i am glad you knoiw nita, i am gona say hi to her when i can *cries*

  • Don LaFontaine voice is fucking legandary

  • Who will have the trailer voice now ?

  • No one. Or at least, no one who could do it like Don did it.

  • Ashton Smith. He is and has been doing probably 85-90% of the television bound film promos for the past several months to a year. I can guarantee that you've heard him if you've watched any TV over the past several months.

  • theres more than just don

  • The sad thing was, I didn't see his face or know his name until I saw on AOL that he was dead. Jim Henson, Don Lafontaine, why must all of the good ones go?

  • LOL the geico commercial... oh and sorry for your loss and the loss of a great voice ...

  • RIP to the best voice over guy in the world

    GOd bless u Sam

  • I've been in radio for 13 years and anytime me or one of my idiot jock friends would goof on a movie trailer we started it with, "In a world....." Don had THAT kind of impact on pop culture. I don't know if it was God or smoking 2 packs a day that gave him that voice, but man, what a voice it was. And it WILL be missed. A talent and a class act gentleman his whole life....we could use more like him. Thanks for the memories Don.

  • in a world when Obama becomes president !

  • Movies and movie trailers wont be the same

    RIP

    the man with THE VOICE

  • There goes a man whose reputation and pure, unique talent is preceded even by his extensive record of voice work. R.I.P. Voice of God.

  • Movie previews are gonna suck now.

Rare raw talent is what that man had.

More importantly he is a good person.

The future is full of surprises though, his voice has inspired many, including me.

  • wow - so sorry to hear he's gone - what a legend, i always wanted him to guest on one of my albums, would have been a great metal vocalist! much respect to don and to his family - peace - RR

  • I'll miss 'the announcer guy for Geico' forever! :-(

  • A very heartfelt tribute. I'm sorry for your loss... and our loss as well.

  • A epic person he was.

  • R.I.P Don, you were the man

  • Does anyone know what film the song that starts at about 9:35 is? I know it is from a hugely popular movie and it is killing me!

  • I'm 99% sure it's from Dances with Wolves.

  • Nope; It's from Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story. The track is called "The Dragon's Heartbeat", composed by Randy Edelman. It is a truly evocative and inspiring piece of music.

  • what an awesome man abd awesome career !!

I will always recognize his voice. He will be missed !!

  • i know who can take his place. Pablo Francisco. Look him up

  • in a world where there's no don lafontaine anymore... how would we cope?

  • I saw a video on Don's website from the Key Art Awards that showed Don, his wife and daughters in their home. Such a great, funny man and I hope his family is making it through this tough time!

  • That was a very moving and entertaining history of this clearly wonderful person. My heart goes out to his friends and family.

  • seems like very funny guy.

  • :( the world is gone

  • Thanks for posting Sam!!! I am sooo sorry Nita. Don certainly made a niche for himself and the thought of not hearing him at the local cinema during the previews is unthinkable. When that happens, his passing will sure be felt. Bless you Don.

  • Thanks for posting. Very nice rememberence of the man. He will be missed for a long time.

  • I've been interested in Don LaFontaine for quite a while. He strikes me as the ultimate showman who could have made it in any part of the business, even without 'the voice'. He was articulate like a writer, had a true actor's sense of timing, and had the diplomatic skills needed to work with & lead all sorts of people.

By all accounts he was also a genuine all-around nice guy who never suffered from an inflated ego despite his status.

  • He had a very unique voice, I'm going to miss hearing it. R.I.P Don. :'(

  • I loveeee that fish tank.

    I miss you uncle Don.

    So so so much.

  • Sam, your tribute to your friends is very touching. I've been a fan of Nita since I heard her sing in Convention Hall at the 1984 Miss America Pageant. I loved her on Star Search and her recording of 'Until Now' is one of my favorites. I'm very sad to hear of this loss and wish her and her children the best.
