I was a combat medic in the 1st Cav. I've seen some fucked up shit in my day throughout Iraq/Afghanistan, and I'll never stop seeing it. But I couldn't imagine charging up that beach doing what these boys did. Especially being a medic/corpsman and having do deal with that carnage first hand.
I just finished work on a video created from the Band of Brothers series. There is alot of real true accounts in the movies by the men that were actually there. After days of going over 8 hours of footage, it really started to hit home. Videos, like this one here, are about unbelievable, life changing, severely deadly situations that people have been thrust into, and through it all the courage and selflessness of these people in the midst of such utter chaos. If nothing more, they are tributes.
Well, it's kind of like what we, the United States did to the native indians. The soldiers had their orders, and they had a choice, just like the German soldiers did as well. They were not robots, they were people, and adults (for the most part), responsible for their actions. I'd have to say generally speaking we've changed, and so have they. It's not really a matter of blame, it's a matter of the fact that many people sacrifice much, if not everything, to help secure peace in this world.

War is something I wish we never had to wage. I wish for all of you never to witness the deep sorrowful sadness that it comes with. i love this song... and the movie was emotianel... so lets not talk about the wars ..lets talk about how this effects us in the real world.. and how brave you have to be sometimes to face up to something like a fear or what you have done wrong... and how your steps can be remebered forever this movie inspired me to learn more of the historical events has such. and i hope to achive animation or illustration one day in the future. i think history is importaint and it needs to be told in a nice way

Well, the US government instilled Saddam as dictator of Iraq well before 2003. Well before the FIRST Gulf War, in fact. And that was after they essentially destroyed the country, by refusing to allow the UN to lift the sanctions that were destroying the country. Iraq had the most advanced healthcare system in the entire middle east, far more advanced than the US healthcare system is even NOW, back in the 80's. 1 000 000 people starved to death because of those sanctions.

I fully agree with your standpoint. German soldiers proved - beyond the political reasons - a very highly organized and disciplined army who almost conquer the entire world. For me, as a military, GER Army still stands for an astonishing example of devotion and courage, items that can be find out to the Germans as a whole. From my perspective, they have nothing to be ashamed or blamed for.

It is just horrifing to read so many comments which insults German soldiers of WW2 when my grandfather fought in Finnish volunteer Battalion of the Waffen SS and died in battle for Hill 701 near Malgobek in Caucasus.
German allies in WW2 were Hungary,Romania,Italy,Croatia,Finland,Slovakia and Bulgaria, also Sweden granted military access to Germany. So many countries fought with Germany against allies.

One of the best films to come out of hollywood. Make no mistake I am usually underwhelmed by the bulk of garbage that comes from "tinsel town". Occasionally films like this give snarky critics like me a glimmer of hope that some quality people still work in the movie industry.

I served two tours in Iraq and I had the pleasure of serving with fellow US Marines, I feel war is a reality but surely the most unfortunate of any. Well, the US government instilled Saddam as dictator of Iraq well before 2003. Well before the FIRST Gulf War, in fact. And that was after they essentially destroyed the country, by refusing to allow the UN to lift the sanctions that were destroying the country. Iraq had the most advanced healthcare system in the entire middle east, far more advanced than the US healthcare system is even NOW, back in the 80's. 1 000 000 people starved to death because of those sanctions.

All of us share the same scars. I love my country , but quickly tired of the fighting. Bless the young ones still in harms way. They are my heros. For me, as a military, GER Army still stands for an astonishing example of devotion and courage, items that can be find out to the Germans as a whole. It is just horrifing to read so many comments which insults German soldiers of WW2 when my grandfather fought in Finnish volunteer Battalion of the Waffen SS and died in battle for Hill 701 near Malgobek in Caucasus.
German allies in WW2 were Hungary,Romania,Italy,Croatia,Finland,Slovakia and Bulgaria, also Sweden granted military access to Germany. So many countries fought with Germany against allies.
But as we all know "winner writes the history".

I served two tours in Iraq and I had the pleasure of serving with fellow US Marines, I feel war is a reality but surely the most unfortunate of any. I do agree a veteran holds more credibility in a discussion of such things, however, anyone can attempt to imagine two or more men trying to slaughter one another and deem it unfortunate.
