I understand from the local Washington DC WAMU program, DIck Spottswood, that Herb Alpert "discovered" her in 1964, and tried to launch her into the bigtime. It is rumored that it is Herb playing trumpet on the A&M released French Song. Why she did not make it is a mystery to me. She should have.

You will never know how much watching this video means to me. One of my best friends ever, Chuck Seals, wrote "Crazy Arms" with the great steel player, Ralph Mooney. Chuck was really pleased with Lucille's version of this song. I sang this song at Chuck's funeral over 10 years ago. Thank you so much for posting this. I added this to my favorites.

An update.......

I did in fact get in touch with Lucille a couple of months ago. She did remember me and my family. I had made several recordings of her and Bob and have, since I talked to her found several of them in fairly good shape (after about 50 years) I promised to send her some copies.
