I own this amp. Its definitely no tube amp but the sound is not that bad. I like the fact that you can save your own presets and switch between them at anytime. You can also tweak this thing to no end. I did a bit of modding to mine though and I do this to EVERY amp I buy. What I do is install a crossover and a tweeter. You can control the tweeter by the tone control on your guitar. It really brings out the highs. Make sure you keep the impedance the same so you dont blow the amp or speakers.
if anyone is wanting one of these im selling it, its brand new, perfect working and cosmetic condition, im also selling a line 6 spider valve 212, ill give u both for an excellent price.
this is an amazing amp, actually its not made anymore, (what its kinda cool, its like a limited edition or something) and its pretty awesome when you know how to use settings n stuff... i can even say it beats a lot more of amplifiers.
the only problem with this amp is, that the sound is too processed, too many effects it dosent cut through when playing gigs, just creates a big wall of sound, and its really hard to get the sound you want because with the overdrive its too harsh and even by cutting down the gain its still a bit to harsh even when youve got an ample amount of it.
I've had this amp for the past 2 - 3 years... and to be honest its ok.... its what i call a practice amp.
Its great if you want the sound of somone else.... but seriously if you want to find your own sound i suggest you look elsewhere.
I am currently looking at buying a Marshall Vintage Modern Head with a 1960A Cab and working on a pedal board so i can find my own sound. Just a warning, you wont get that kind of customization in this amp.
I do own the S III 150 and it's a beast! Non friendly menus indeed, and it takes hours to make a good sound, but it is possible if you know what you want. And think about the alternative (a garage filled with amps and stuff...). This thing has a lot inside and it's almost portable(maybe 75 is better for portability). I never could max the volume though (I want to keep my hearing, thank you.) The most I did was half volume and it cracked my walls, scared the shait out of my neighbours etc.
The parameters are kinda mystical, but if you try, you can get good stuff in there. Sounds fat and has the great line out for recordings and getting in a mixer etc I tried it with my own pedals and with fbv express and it rules!
Love the S III! For the haters and the valve lovers, there is a HUGE difference between spiderIII (75,150) and the spider 1 or 2 and even IV. Learn how to tweak it and save your sounds. Nobody loves the sounds from the box. They are made of non musicians. And all those that are under30 yo most of them have never seen a valve, so why all that crap about valves? I am solid state generation and proud of it! Fouck valves! They are big, heavy and they break when you need them most.Transistor rules!
READ THIS TO USE BUILT IN GATE-- hold the tap button and move around the reverb knob to cut off noise or have more noise for more sustain..... your welcome.....
@vip1691 The pedal that controls the onboard effects is a separate connection (an ethernet cable).

@Zawkkee Get the 3 dude and save money for new strings and shit. Its the best amp ive used in a long time as you pick a sound and play not like my orange TT where i never seem to get the right sound unless im cranking the shit out of it. The 3 is an awesome amp ive only heard a 4 as a mate has one and it sounds pretty similar. I play mainly rock (VR GnR DC) stuff in my band but my son plays a lot of stuff from A7x to slipknot with it and it sounds ace. hope this helps dude..
Just got the amp for a early christmass preasent it is awsome and i would suggest it to anyone wanting a modeling amp. I got the Spider 3 75 watt version and its great, the 3 is just as good as the 4 just a few small none important diffrenses
i bought one of these peices of shit it played for 15 minutes and would like cut in and out of power, i mean for the time it played it was kick ass!!! but i took it back and traded it in for a Fender FM212R, trust me buy a fender instead!!!
I only use mine for the clean channel. Total garbage in my opinion; the distortions sound terrible and it takes a long time to EQ even a CLEAN setting! I don't know about the Spider IV, but Tube, even solid state > this.
i have the 30 watt version and use the insane channel and the why i set my sound i could go head to head with zakk wylde. you can get his tone and the thing i like about this amp is when your playing with a band or to music ( do this if you have it aswell) put the music on and go out your room with your guitar plugged in and amp on and you can hear the line 6 just rip throught the band or music its a really good amp
i hear there is a slipknot preset is that true? and also is this amp a good buy? I'm planning on getting the line 6 spider III 150 and I want to know before I spend a couple hundred on it.
@antman214 there is the slipknot preset and its a really good amp i bought a randall 150 watt half stack was about £600 and got great pedals(Zakk wylde overdrive) and to be very honest i can get zakk tone and sustaine on my 30 watt line 6 plus the pitch harmonics are really good, and if your playing with a band your tone will just rip throught the noise :P trust me it worth the money
guys if i bought this amp + this pedal Line 6 FloorPOD will i get a really good sound because i am playing guitar for 1 year and using kh-15_zoom effect is more than enough i cant get the right sound of PH becaue the of the set ? any other advices plz say anything AND BTW I LOVE METALCORE MUsIC LIKE (BFMV AND A7X)
hey man , can anyone recomend me a music store , in Europe , that i can really find this amp without beeing sold out like MusicStore , or even Thomann . i can only find the Spider IV , but i've been playin' for 2 years , so i don't wnt it , i tihnk it is a little bit sofisticated to my playing . so , if anyone can help me , write back or send message to my user , thanks .
i bought a boss me-70 trying to figure out how to make good sounds. cauyse my amp is fucking line6``sucky for other pedals`` it dont make very good sound
@j3z0m374l dude then why are you watching this? It makes no sense to watch this if you don't like Line 6 thats mainly why people watch this cuz they like it not to hate it.
anyone know if i can use boss pedalboard``i mean the machine with wah wah and other effects`` on line 6 spider 3 75w? cause on a music store they told me u can only use line 6 pedals on line 6 amps `no other kind of pedals`` is that true or they try to sell me a crappy pedals e.t.c
no offense to those who like it, but this amp just kinda sucks. i mean, the point of playing guitar is having your own sound, not using other people's sound. and it really doesnt sound good. there are far better amps for the same price, such as the vox valvetronix,
This amp will contribute to the dumbing down of future guitarist everywhere. What kind of amp company names it's tones after song titles and band names? You can get an AC/DC tone with a Fender Frontman 65 and a Boss Overdrive pedal. Geez! Screw this!
@ChevyManSS350 I have a Vypyr 30. I couldn't agree more. Thats because Peavey knows analog tone is far better than over produced digital tone. Vypyrs sound natural no matter what. Line 6 is a toy that targets teenagers and their cruddy BC Rich warlocks.
@skot373 hey dude. im thinking on buying a new amp and thinking about the Vypyr 75, can you tell me how you like your Vypry? Is the Clean tone good? i don't like the clean tone of line 6.
@darkness405 I really enjoy the clean on my Vypyr 30. I suggest getting a Sanpera I pedal to give you more control and make it easier to save your edited presets. You might want to round off some of the edge by adding a light amount of chorus that comes with the amp.
I did manage to combine the tweed amp model with the tube screamer stomp box feature and got a fairly good Def Leppard "High and Dry" sound from it.
The cleans are SHIT on this amp!! they are SO THIN LIVE!!i play with it live and switch back and forth from distortion and clean and the volumes are way louder for dist. than cleans really off when playing live.
as a beginner its ok but if youre gonna get a modeling beginner amp get a peavey vyper its alot better. however if youve found your style and you want an amp that sounds good get a tube amp designed for your style. i overall would not recomend this amp. its extremely novice and will not make you happy for long at all.
question.. i got a dean michael shenker V (double humbuckers).. what amp should i get for it?. a good amp for a double humbucker.. line6? peavey? i just need an amp for my room..
and i really wanna get a boss multi effect maybe, wud it be wrong?.
I've been using Line 6 Spider III 75W for about 5 years now and I've never been so happy about having it. It startet for about a week ago to go through the channels and changing the sound by it selv, but after 5 years I think it's pretty good. Great amp with some OK sounds. I prefered to make my own sounds with the amp and never had a better sound!
I have a line 6 spider 3 and as a beginer a year ago i love it but now ive got better i hate it . Its sounds to artificial and a word of warning when i play a american telecaster through it none of the presets work as they were designed for humbuckers or 3 single coils like strats
I am playing my Esquire through it. Straight single coils just don't work with this amplifier. Especially if you go for a clean sound.
I might try to get some rockabilly "crunch" from it - but I've somehow given up to find a clean tone that I like for more than half an hour of rehearsing.
I've got line 6 spider 3 75w and i can promise because i've played shows with it and i would reconmend it to anybody......its just an amp that makes you sound good
What amp would you guys recommend if you wanna get a sound like Bullet For My Valentine or KillSwitch Engage? This, a peavy, a Marshal..or anything else.
Well... Mg's do suck, but yeah, no where near as bad as spider 3's. As a message to everyone, if you want a modeling amp, get the Peavey Vyper. Much better than any Spider and a little better than the MG.
@Jonsk12394 Trust me, i have a 15-watt because i was like you and just wanted to mess around in my room, but the bigger you go you get way more features and way better tone. These amps are plenty loud even at 15-watts, so don't sacrifice good tone for a smaller speaker
Well, I'm not gonna go on a killing riot about this amp at all, but I have one question... How does it take you an hour to dial in a tone on an amp? I mean, It doesn't take me an hour, at most it would take like 5-7 minutes AT MOST, and thats when my ears are overly picky.. And I'm pretty sure that since he's a professional, it would take him much less, if he really knew his amp :P. Those marketing bastards, lol.
i prefer marshall but i got a line 6 spider III 120 watt and it really has a lot of power and pretty close settings for a solid state but really if u want the good sound marshalls the way to go but be prepared to pay some money.
I like my Marshall Half Stack better too, but I just dont like digital amps. My cousin has this amp in the 75 watt option and its good for practicing by yourself alone or in a band with just one guitar but he plays in a band with me and my marshall half stack has more tone and volume at a lower volume. For example, his volume set on 5 just can't be heard over my Marshall on 3. I have the Marshall MG100HDFX head/cab and it was only $200 more so go with marshall for better tone/volume
I am trying to figure out how to put the recordings on a computer - I see there are two outputs for the RCA jacks - ´problem is I have only one input on the computer - do I need a sound card or an adaptor - any info would be great - love the amp by the way....
like 5 of them I think.. they have a Master of Puppetts one, a Sandman one, a bell tolls one... and I cant think of the others but I think there are more..
i think the other one would be Nothing else matters, but personally i prefer the "Stellar" setting which is found on the 1990's range also, that plus a little bit of reverb, chorus and echo, sounds brilliant :P
i didn't get it from Guitar Center lol i got it from Dawsons, a local place in manchester, near me, and i got the 150 watt Line 6 Spider IV Amp, Couldnt be happier haha , and the guitar? i got an Epiphone Zakk Wylde Custom
Hmmm, try your master volume switch, and fiddle around with the buttons at the top that say "Clean, Metal, Insane" etc, also try your middle, treb and bass etc, you should see something come out eventually, hope this helped dude, Rock On!
man i got the 75w version like last week and my parents are fcking pissed at me cuz they say its too loud but i put it on the lowest it can go without being muted and now there taking my guitar away!!!!
I have the Spider III 75W and it will blow the doors off so keep in mind on the watts.. plus you have to turn it up to make it sound good. The 30W should be PLENTY if your just going to do bed room playing with it. Also check out the Line 6 POD X3's or XTs as those have TONS of amps, effects, ect and can be hooked up to your pc. Check out youtuber KillrBuckeye to hear it in action
I got it at the time when spider IV came out and spider III were on clearance. It was easy choice because
SPIDER III 120 $239
SPIDER IV 120 $399
and after trying IV at the store I'm happy I sticked with SPIDER III:)
Yeah, its loud! at home I can't go beyond 12oclock because my ears are bleeding:D but outside I can go up to 4ocklock but the speakers don't handle it that well at that volume...
the presets for the bands arent really that close to how the bands sound. I dont use the presets because i dont like them, but the amp itself is wicked. has perfect metal distortion.
i do like there fx quite a bit and i think there tube line sounds good

And think about the alternative (a garage filled with amps and stuff...). This thing has a lot inside and it's almost portable(maybe 75 is better for portability). @OlracCrisisX I am going to look at it tomorrow, not buying just looking I am working on saving for a Les Paul at this time
MrWadestar 1 year ago
@MrWadestar Its good amp im getting it soon but yeah everytime i go to GuitarCenter i always play on the Spider 4.
OlracCrisisX 1 year ago
@MrWadestar I have the same one also, and at first I liked it, but now it just sounds cheesy to me. Nothing sounds like a Marshal Tube amp.

I've been using Line 6 Spider III 75W for about 5 years now and I've never been so happy about having it. It startet for about a week ago to go through the channels and changing the sound by it selv, but after 5 years I think it's pretty good. Great amp with some OK sounds. I prefered to make my own sounds with the amp and never had a better sound!
kristofferjo 1 year ago
I have a line 6 spider 3 and as a beginer a year ago i love it but now ive got better i hate it . Its sounds to artificial and a word of warning when i play a american telecaster through it none of the presets work as they were designed for humbuckers or 3 single coils like strats
Marako2 1 year ago
@Marako2
+1
I am playing my Esquire through it. Straight single coils just don't work with this amplifier. Especially if you go for a clean sound.
I might try to get some rockabilly "crunch" from it - but I've somehow given up to find a clean tone that I like for more than half an hour of rehearsing.
Johi2410 1 year ago
I've got line 6 spider 3 75w and i can promise because i've played shows with it and i would reconmend it to anybody......its just an amp that makes you sound good
Robync2005 1 year ago
this amp makes my tube amp look like a retard
this thing can find 250 artists presets and give it to you in seconds.
however the tone isn't near as good as my orange tt combo

What amp would you guys recommend if you wanna get a sound like Bullet For My Valentine or KillSwitch Engage? This, a peavy, a Marshal..or anything else.
Threedaysgraace13 2 years ago
a peavey valveking (high distortion) with a maxon od808 (distortion down, volume and tone up) over the amps distortion
bythewaysideguitar 2 years ago
@bythewaysideguitar
Yeah Iwas thinking a peavy too. THanks
Threedaysgraace13 1 year ago
Seriously? Both the spider 3 and the marshall mg are crap amps. You're wasting your money buying one of those
Heeya13 2 years ago 2
iono about marshall MG's but spiders do suck. i own one and i just wanna throw it but its my only amp lololol
dumbkkid 2 years ago
Well... Mg's do suck, but yeah, no where near as bad as spider 3's. As a message to everyone, if you want a modeling amp, get the Peavey Vyper. Much better than any Spider and a little better than the MG.
Heeya13 2 years ago
@Heeya13 Whats a good amp like the spider 1? please tell me any1. I am looking for a room and small band amp with those effects for a budget
MrJackanthony 2 years ago
Peavey Vyper. Or a peavey tube vyper.

I have the crap Beginner Marshall amp atm, so im buying the Line 6 spider 4 with 30 watt. Anyone know any downs about it?
Jonsk12394 2 years ago
The lower watt the more disappointing it is, the bigger u go the better it sounds.
smileyman455 2 years ago
@smileyman455 - Im not gonna play any gigs or anything tho. Im just gonna have it on my room for some playin. Ok sound for just playing for fun?
Jonsk12394 2 years ago
@Jonsk12394 Trust me, i have a 15-watt because i was like you and just wanted to mess around in my room, but the bigger you go you get way more features and way better tone. These amps are plenty loud even at 15-watts, so don't sacrifice good tone for a smaller speaker
smileyman455 2 years ago
Well, I'm not gonna go on a killing riot about this amp at all, but I have one question... How does it take you an hour to dial in a tone on an amp? I mean, It doesn't take me an hour, at most it would take like 5-7 minutes AT MOST, and thats when my ears are overly picky.. And I'm pretty sure that since he's a professional, it would take him much less, if he really knew his amp :P. Those marketing bastards, lol.
VAIou812 2 years ago
i prefer marshall but i got a line 6 spider III 120 watt and it really has a lot of power and pretty close settings for a solid state but really if u want the good sound marshalls the way to go but be prepared to pay some money.

u suck
pittypopo 2 years ago
I like my Marshall Half Stack better too, but I just dont like digital amps. My cousin has this amp in the 75 watt option and its good for practicing by yourself alone or in a band with just one guitar but he plays in a band with me and my marshall half stack has more tone and volume at a lower volume. For example, his volume set on 5 just can't be heard over my Marshall on 3. I have the Marshall MG100HDFX head/cab and it was only $200 more so go with marshall for better tone/volume

Does this amp have Metallica presets?
JGaRRoWay08 2 years ago
like 5 of them I think.. they have a Master of Puppetts one, a Sandman one, a bell tolls one... and I cant think of the others but I think there are more..
hurricaneofrock 2 years ago
i think the other one would be Nothing else matters, but personally i prefer the "Stellar" setting which is found on the 1990's range also, that plus a little bit of reverb, chorus and echo, sounds brilliant :P
Krathor18 2 years ago
I can't find the Metallica presets :( I have looked through the whole thing. how can I get to them?
scotty688 2 years ago
you go to the 80's section by going up and down, then you go to the right on the button thing and find the name of the song.
hurricaneofrock 2 years ago
oh yeah and its also in the 90's.
hurricaneofrock 2 years ago
ok thanks, I just checked and I found them. I never checked ther 50s 60s 70s 80s 90s or 00s. the enter sandman one is sweet

i just got one today. i like it but its real bassy and kinda muted. anything i can do or is this how its supposed to sound?
AaronXStrickland 2 years ago
Hmmm, try your master volume switch, and fiddle around with the buttons at the top that say "Clean, Metal, Insane" etc, also try your middle, treb and bass etc, you should see something come out eventually, hope this helped dude, Rock On!

yeah i fixed it, it sounds so amazing. im glad i got it.

Should I get this or the Spider IV 30w? :S I can't decide...
J8nig 2 years ago
I have the Spider III 75W and it will blow the doors off so keep in mind on the watts.. plus you have to turn it up to make it sound good. The 30W should be PLENTY if your just going to do bed room playing with it. Also check out the Line 6 POD X3's or XTs as those have TONS of amps, effects, ect and can be hooked up to your pc. Check out youtuber KillrBuckeye to hear it in action
spawnsc 2 years ago
Yeah, I've watched KillrBuckeye's videos many times, he rocks. :) I think I'll get the 75W.
J8nig 2 years ago
"plus you have to turn it up to make it sound good" lol its not a tube amp, it will sound good at any volume level

definatly spider 3
eplpsp2 2 years ago
just a week ago I got 120W version of spider III for 239$. Great amp for the price!
DawidHudziak 2 years ago
aww.. I got a 75W for the same price.. ah well, still sounds good, and you can crank it up!
hurricaneofrock 2 years ago
I got it at the time when spider IV came out and spider III were on clearance. It was easy choice because
SPIDER III 120 $239
SPIDER IV 120 $399
and after trying IV at the store I'm happy I sticked with SPIDER III:)
Yeah, its loud! at home I can't go beyond 12oclock because my ears are bleeding:D but outside I can go up to 4ocklock but the speakers don't handle it that well at that volume...
Nevertheless, great amp!
DawidHudziak 2 years ago
Yay! A Meshuggah preset! I am so going to get this amp.
HighlyBrave 2 years ago
the presets for the bands arent really that close to how the bands sound. I dont use the presets because i dont like them, but the amp itself is wicked. has perfect metal distortion.
Draglion123 2 years ago
this a great amp. i own it. im also thinking of getting the spider valve, for a nice tube sound
