Great great music. I saw them in Dublin a few weeks ago and I thought this was the best performance of the night. Mind you, the rest of the set was pretty excellent as well
damn man jeff tweedy rights some great songs. nothing crazy lyrically, just good lyrics and amazing music and composition. i think the way he puts words together is so clever and catching though. he is a great writer but in a different way
im pissed, they were at lallapolooza this passed summer and they were playing the same time as rage against the machine the second night, i went to see rage against the machine, but i will see wilco b4 i die. come on rage against the machine, first concert back together in the united states i had to do it, even though wilco is one of the greatest bands of my time.
haha i think he's goin for the paul mccartney look. the beatles influence is already just seeping through their music...why not apply it to their facial hair?
lol jeff looks like a mountainman or lumberjack or something with that beard!! i mean that in a good way of course. also wow this must be one of the first performances of this song or anything from sky blue sky fro that matter seeing as how old it is.
I always thought this song sounded like it was inspired by Joe Cocker's "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" album, and the horns take it even further in that direction. And for the person who asked, yes, that's a Gibson Barney Kessel, a model that was made in the 60s and early 70s.
Brown University, when they played there some of Brown U's band went along with them on tour. They were at the Sayreville, NJ show when I saw them in 06, right before Lolla.
someone please tell what hollow body that guitar is. It looks like the hollowbody version of an SG. What kind of guitar is that? Seriously if you know what it is message me and let me know.
Ween is just flat out weird. Like, Monty Python music. You can't really say one is better than the other, but I prefer Wilco. Tweedy sings about things that I can relate to, and the Ween guys just seem like they're trying to be as obtuse and odd as they can be.
That said, "Walken" is one of Wilco's weaker tunes. It's alright, but Sky Blue Sky has much better tunes on it.
Agree with you on Ween but couldn't disagree more with your comment on Walken. It's a great tune! The slide guitar work by cline, Jeff's vocals and it's just a raw rock and roll tune that rocks out. Thank god Jeff gave us this tune to contrast the darker ones.
where do these sweet videos come from. they look professionally done, i've seen some from the racontuers too, is it from some lolla dvd or something??
Not really. You do realise that you *are* allowed to like more than one artist from a genre. Me? I love Ryan Adams *and* Jeff Tweedy, right from Whiskeytown/Uncle Tupelo to Ryan Adams/Wilco.
Chills! I'm so lucky...we're so lucky to have Wilco in our times :) :)
