@1QueenMom1 carry on trying to get them used to your hands put your hand in the cage with a small morsel of food on it and talk to them in a quiet soft voice that tells it there is nothing to be afraid of, type in on google ways to hand tame a budgie and don't make any harsh movements like swatting flies etc. Keep relatively still and quiet and take it from there
Oh. I think I know what you're talking about now. Do you use Febreeze or any other cleaner like that that goes into the air? If so, I recommend to stop using it immediately. That, or any other scented air sprays, plug ins, anything like that could cause respiratory illness in birds. As well as self-cleaning ovens, the chemicals that come off them are deadly to birds.
hi, is it normal for ur budgie to puff out cause my little yellow girl budgie kepts puffing out , but my blue male dose not puff out is it a female thing or?
I don't recommend getting just one budgie because birds are flock animals. They need companionship. If you do only get one, its important that you kind of adjust your life style just a little in order to spend time as much time as possible with it. But this also depends on the bird. Some get along perfectly fine on their own. ^^
I'd have to agree with persion101. I've had parakeets my whole life, but only ever one at a time. But I love my keets to death, and spend almost every moment at home with them. I keep their cage open most of the time so they can fly to me any time they want to. My birds seemed happy, but I gave them lots of attention, lots of whistles and chirps.
A lot of people think I'm weird for loving my birdies so much, but I'd rather have a keet than a cat or dog. I love their personalities =)
My mom had a pure white budgie when she was younger. He's very pretty. My budgie is the opposite of yours. He never stops singing but today he's in a funk because our cockatiel died two days ago and he misses her. She was ten.
Contrary to populay belief, they are rather hard to care for. Some people will tell you otherwise, but budgies are more prone to colds and other sickenesses that can happen if they aren't properly cared for. Almost all sicknesses budgies get are fatal because they're just so small and often there isn't much you can do if something happens. and some birds are, some aren't loud at night. :3 All depends on their personality
Budgies are one of the easiest pet birds. So if u concider buying a bird, start with cockatiels or better yet, budgies, coz even cockatiels are easier than bigger ones like cockatoos or african grey, they are still closer to that.
Opinion based on the facts about pet birds, the best first birds are the smallest. Canarianbirds are also a good choice.
just stick your hand in ad do nothin and in like 10 to 30 min he/she will get on your finger and not run but might not come out of his/her cage unti he/she is used to u i got a new budgie to and she wont come out if her cage yet almost there
Such a cute budgie! I've had many in the past, and currently my three are Sparky (green), Libby (blue) and Bianco (also blue but a different shade). None are white, but I've had one of that colour in the past.
Lovely companions, and such cute creatures. Love them!
Thanks! n.n I've had another 3 before too. 2 of them were named after cookies (Oreo and Fudgeo) and Duke used to have a buddy named Hazzard. Their names came from one of my favorite movies, The Dukes of Hazzard. xD
Nice to hear that you took the names from the TV show The Dukes of Hazard! I used to watch it occasionally myself.
Your Duke looked a lot like my late budgie called Lara (who was also awfully cute). she passed away a long time ago in December 2001, but is always evergreen in my memory.
Our pets and budgies are such a happy part of our lives, and I find each one is unique and differing in personality etc.
That is so true. Each one is so different, not one bird'll do anything the same as another. Its not like having a cat or a dog where you know more or less what to expect. Thats what I love about them <3 n.n they're so unpredictable.
While cats and dogs also have their own respective personalities, I think it is very true that people in general don't realize that the same---and sometimes even more--applies to budgies.
Out of all my birds (current and in the past) each and every one has had its own character and personality.
As you say they are very unpredicatable at times too.

what do you mean by 'puffing out'? If you're talking about when they fluff their feathers, thats natural. :3 Both males and females will do that.

budgies are NOT nocturnal, who on earth gives this idea out??
they sleep like other animals.
they need a lot of care
spickymaster 3 years ago
I think you misunderstood what I meant. Some birds sing in their sleep. You're right, they're not nocturnal. But some do sing in their sleep. :3

Sometimes while i am in bed and the lights are out and stuff, I sometimes sneeze and my bird would chirp at my sneeze. Its real funny.
