I only have one tinfoil barb in a tank with a group of rosies, but he does this all the time! At first I thought it was nothing, but then he started developing a sore on the side that he would rub on.
@holliemrabbit have you tested your water ??? It may have a bacterial infection or something ???? Mine were all fin perfect !!! my water was more or less clean enough to drink as i used to do 50% water change every week ;) My mate has some and they do the same as what mine did !!! but his are also very healthy !!! It's just work checking the water and doing a few large water changes before you put a treatment in ect !!! As the fresh water should clear up the sore in a week or so ;)
@warrn69 She was a Clarias catfish / or walking catfish !!!! They can be quite aggressive and hassle other fish sometimes !!! You can get them in a few different colours and patterns !! You would need quite a large tank for a fully grown one as they They grow to around 18" max !!!! Mine was pretty well behaved tbh !! Great fish you could hand feed her !! And they aren't very shy and are out most of the time !! Not like some other catfish that only come out with the lights off or at night ect !!
its a display act showing that they want to breed, but it will never happen due to the tank is to small for breeding, they only breed in area's that have a current and lay eggs over a large distance.
hi there, nice barbs man i have 3 + a clownknife fish which are in a hell of a state head shackin, rubbin, cloudy eyes.grey color, the works ive tried everything but nothing works, the ph drops from 7.2 to 6.0 within a week after a water change, the tank water stinks,i take uneatin food out right away,i'm about to change all the fillter media to see what happens.
The fish do it every so often !!! But have gone a long time without any treatment and they are perfectly finned and scaled very healthy !! So im a forum member had tinfoils in the past and they remember theres doing this to !!! But im putting it down to something in the tank that is irritating them !! I have plastic pot scrubber's in the filter's they may have some sort of anti mold stuff on them that is irritating them !!! So am going to remove them over a few months and see if it makesa change
@Davidkinzett Nice barbs, they look very healthy!! Mine seem to have stopped flicking now, without treatment. They only do it every now and again. I have no idea what was wrong as all the other fish were fine.
Hi mate !! The biggest one is 12 inches and the smallest one is around 8 inches and the other is around 10 inches !!! They still flick every so often but not as bad as on this vid witch is not really to bad anyway !!! I did the sterazin treatment and it didn't do anything !! Alot of forum's said that the fish are fine and if they were ill they would be flicking alot more than this !! And they think it is a sign of submission between the fish !!! Of stress due to the tank being very bare
I am having the same problem with my barbs. There is no sign of illness and yet for the last 2 weeks they have been flicking like crazy. They are swimming and eating fine. The other fish are not flicking at all. I am totally stumped! Check out my video, it is not of them flicking, but my barbs look very like yours .
This is the 5th day of a 10 day course of sterazin p treatment and still no signs of improvement !!! none of my other fish are doing this and the water is fine !!!
