Oddly enough, the hole in the front isn't where the mic is. It's a little lower than where the hole is. I picked up one of these on ebay for $20 from a seller in Hong Kong. Mine doesn't have motion detection. It does have a sound activated record mode. Look at the mini DV d005 review by Techmoan. That will give you an idea of what the cam is like. For the price it's amazing. The video quality is surprisingly good for such a cheap/small cam. No point in spending a ton for what you can get for $20
