the masters wife shot him deliberatly because she knew the ring could bring him back to life, but if the doctor kept him locked in the tardis he wouldnt be able to escape, so she shoots him he dies deliberatly do people think he's dead and then knowing the doctor burnt his remains she goes and looks for the ring to revive the master haha because the phyic network is still online remember :P

I'm just guessing but she did seemed to be in a daze as if under hypnosis.

Maybe her shooting him and the ring, which might be similar to the technology of the watch, were a fail safe in case something went wrong and he needed to escape by perhaps faking his death in a way.

Yes he was - Doctor Who is set a year in the future compared to our time. Back in Series One, after the Doctor took Rose out for the first time, he brought her home 12 months into the future rather than 12 hours like he meant to :-)
