I concur. I, for one, am completely sure that this genre was created to serve as a switch to trigger such emotional response no bands could ever do and this song is just one of the many. Sucks that this music is so underrated.. I wish everyone on the planet could know them. After listening to this, I decided that I want to become a powerful ninja.
@MrMeddled Look, I'm a big fan of King crimson (especially the larks/red era) but if you click the albumversion of this song, or any other song by this artist, you'll see the comparisons end very quickly.
Youtube obviously has something against links in comments. So to check out I, The Ocean, either contact me or remove the stars from the following link:
Normally I wouldn't do this, but expect that the people who watch and like this video are open-minded and like discovering and encouraging new music.
WEG is one of my inspirations for writing my own music and a major influence on it. My current project is called I, The Ocean and it's very ambient and easy listening.
@MrMeddled I love King Crimson but I clearly see the differences and originality of both artists. It's rather odd to hear someone compare both. Close your eyes and listen to a song from both and you should conjure different scenery from both artists.
SO.SICK. the saxophonist just fucking destroys. Tottally shreds it. The instrumentation is phenommenal. Best part is when it breaks into the epic movement at 7:30. Goosebumps!
So much more different t the studio version, i like it! also @ raindown222, what are you talking about? I get the jist of it but dude next time proof read!

There always seems to be a point in WEG's compositions that scream out desperation; it nearly brings me to tears. I always think of a man in the twilight on his hands and knees in the middle of a damp and worn road with a street light shining down on him, his fingers gripping at the concrete beneath him as he screams at the top of his lungs, tears streaming from his eyes.
not allways what about singin under the rainbows and some of the songs on Enchanted Lanscape scape.. he has happy songs too. i think its harder to make songs that are truly happier, like... 2 wrongs makes one right
because the composer doesn't want WEG to just be this himself writing and performing, he wants it to be this entity of his music and everything to do with his music. he doesn't want people to see him and say "hey, that's world's end girlfriend", he wants people to hear his incredible music and recognise it as something beyond one person
i hat the name ... it was just luck that i clicked this link. pure luck. awesome... never thought that such a dump and icky name could innclude such a big programm
big job. awesome. awesome awesome.
this one will be heard as often as i can ... since agalloch this is the first real big trove in music for me.
he usually does not show his face, and ream name too because he thinks when we listen music(or when we read the stories) they do not need composer's face or name(writer's name or face), it is only relationship with audiences and music alone.( readers and story itself) smile..
@raindown222 Interesting how WEG's desire to not want to show his face or his name is so dissimilar to artists like Richard D. James (Aphex Twin) who has plastered his face on the cover of most of his albums and also put his face in so many of his videos.
I saw WEG in a small club preforming solo. He was touring with Mono...WEG really sucked bad that night. This is completely mind blowing in comparison to his lackluster solo performance.
i love the volta, i'm a fan of way back, seen them several times (incidentally, my faith has been slowly dwindling over these past years, but that's a different story) and all i'm saying, is that the volta could never even touch a song like this. this is just a splendid performance. (and as a side-note-WTF: the volta is hugely driven by Cedric's vocals...that's a bit of a discrepancy as far as comparisons go...)
: ] nothin' but love here though, just tossin' around some good ol' input
I like this performance a little better than the album version. The electronic percussion and effects make the music more alien, but not as emotionally intense.
He may not be part of the band. Some bands make the add ins wear masks or stay in the back while the actual performers stay up front and are seen by the people. Kind of stupid if you ask me, but he probably only played for this concert.
yeah i was right, i didnt even read the description. world's end girlfriend + 7 players. the 7 players are censored out to not take away the attention from the actualy band members/
Interesting! I've wondered how WEG would elaborate such music for a live audience; suffice it to say, you would need an orchestra to really convey the same sense of feeling in a song as elaborate as Scorpius Circus. With this, I understand where astralsmirk is coming from; there simply isn't enough depth/feeling, if you've listened to the original version enough times.
Amazing,, Increible, este hombre y su banda realmente son geniales, Me hubiera gustado verle la cara pero entiendo que su música es lo que habla por el.
i really hate to say this, but this was actually painful for me to watch. I love this guy more than anything, but this live performance just butchers the song when compared to the album version. I understand that it's not an easy song to play, but beyond that, I think some of the players are missing the point or the mood of the song & are instead all trying to show off. I couldn't even watch the whole thing. Just butchered.
It's so typical of people on forums or comments to not be able to respond without name-calling. I'm sorry - i must have missed the disclaimer that said "Positive comments only."
eh maybe it's just my opinion, but i prefer this live version to the album version. i think they sound almost like two entirely different songs when compared.

Wish he'd released a live band version on the album so I could experience this eargasm in full quality.
Even at (I'm guessing) 128kbps, this is better than the studio version.
