  • It is amazing how this song shows so many feelings just like its title!!!

  • Wish he'd released a live band version on the album so I could experience this eargasm in full quality.

Even at (I'm guessing) 128kbps, this is better than the studio version.

  • I concur. I, for one, am completely sure that this genre was created to serve as a switch to trigger such emotional response no bands could ever do and this song is just one of the many. Sucks that this music is so underrated.. I wish everyone on the planet could know them. After listening to this, I decided that I want to become a powerful ninja.

  • @MrMeddled Look, I'm a big fan of King crimson (especially the larks/red era) but if you click the albumversion of this song, or any other song by this artist, you'll see the comparisons end very quickly.

  • Youtube obviously has something against links in comments. So to check out I, The Ocean, either contact me or remove the stars from the following link:

    ht*tp:/ /l*istn.to/ *ITheOc*ean

If you like WEG, you'll like I, The Ocean.

  • Normally I wouldn't do this, but expect that the people who watch and like this video are open-minded and like discovering and encouraging new music.

WEG is one of my inspirations for writing my own music and a major influence on it. My current project is called I, The Ocean and it's very ambient and easy listening.

  • 12 minutes that feels like 3

  • @MrMeddled I love King Crimson but I clearly see the differences and originality of both artists. It's rather odd to hear someone compare both. Close your eyes and listen to a song from both and you should conjure different scenery from both artists.

  • @MrMeddled Give me a place to listen to that so I can understand your criticism.

  • SO.SICK. the saxophonist just fucking destroys. Tottally shreds it. The instrumentation is phenommenal. Best part is when it breaks into the epic movement at 7:30. Goosebumps!

  • what an awesome show love it

  • beautiful music

  • Thought it was impossible to rock out with a saxophone. By god was I wrong!

  • @gamersgene

    Lrn2jzz nb/.

  • @formaevolatus I think I have it decoded but I'm not sure 'bout that last part.

Were you saying "Learn to jazz, nota bien/." or "Learn to jazz, noob/."?

  • a must hear for the rest of time.

  • Even tho it starts getting pretty different from the original later on, still a great piece

  • So much more different t the studio version, i like it! also @ raindown222, what are you talking about? I get the jist of it but dude next time proof read!

  • Such amazing composition.

  • yes!

  • just brilliant!

  • There always seems to be a point in WEG's compositions that scream out desperation; it nearly brings me to tears. I always think of a man in the twilight on his hands and knees in the middle of a damp and worn road with a street light shining down on him, his fingers gripping at the concrete beneath him as he screams at the top of his lungs, tears streaming from his eyes.

  • not allways what about singin under the rainbows and some of the songs on Enchanted Lanscape scape.. he has happy songs too. i think its harder to make songs that are truly happier, like... 2 wrongs makes one right

  • Fucking hell, I love this music but what is it with the absolutely R-E-T-A-R-D-E-D fans?

  • why is his face blurred out??

  • cause he's beyond shoegaze XD

  • I lol'd

  • to separate the composer from the music

  • because the composer doesn't want WEG to just be this himself writing and performing, he wants it to be this entity of his music and everything to do with his music. he doesn't want people to see him and say "hey, that's world's end girlfriend", he wants people to hear his incredible music and recognise it as something beyond one person

  • i really like his music, but does anyone feel the sound of his albums fail to deliver the same energy as this performance does.

  • quite the opposite actually

  • This performance is epic, especially the hard rock sections at the end. World's End Girlfriend is a fantastic composer.

  • danm oÔ

i hat the name ... it was just luck that i clicked this link. pure luck. awesome... never thought that such a dump and icky name could innclude such a big programm

    big job. awesome. awesome awesome.

this one will be heard as often as i can ... since agalloch this is the first real big trove in music for me.

  • Its not a name that makes music xP And WEG owns big time :)

  • Why's face Katsuhiko Maeda has been censored?

  • he usually does not show his face, and ream name too because he thinks when we listen music(or when we read the stories) they do not need composer's face or name(writer's name or face), it is only relationship with audiences and music alone.( readers and story itself) smile..

  • @raindown222 Interesting how WEG's desire to not want to show his face or his name is so dissimilar to artists like Richard D. James (Aphex Twin) who has plastered his face on the cover of most of his albums and also put his face in so many of his videos.

  • @ABitOfTheUniverse AND DAFT PUNK

  • @raindown222 acousmatic sound. It is as the ancient greek mathmatician Pythagoras taught his students without revealing his face

  • @raindown222

    His name is Katsuhiko Maeda

  • i love seeing what the actual instruments are that WEG uses in his music. :]

  • très jolie la musique.

  • I saw WEG in a small club preforming solo. He was touring with Mono...WEG really sucked bad that night. This is completely mind blowing in comparison to his lackluster solo performance.

  • stunning

  • i love the volta, i'm a fan of way back, seen them several times (incidentally, my faith has been slowly dwindling over these past years, but that's a different story) and all i'm saying, is that the volta could never even touch a song like this. this is just a splendid performance. (and as a side-note-WTF: the volta is hugely driven by Cedric's vocals...that's a bit of a discrepancy as far as comparisons go...)

: ] nothin' but love here though, just tossin' around some good ol' input

  • WEG is simply amazing

  • I like this performance a little better than the album version. The electronic percussion and effects make the music more alien, but not as emotionally intense.

  • why the hell is that one guitarist's head censored?

  • because Japanese like to censor stuff :)

  • He may not be part of the band. Some bands make the add ins wear masks or stay in the back while the actual performers stay up front and are seen by the people. Kind of stupid if you ask me, but he probably only played for this concert.

  • As ilichinfiction stated, the blurred face is Katsuhiko Maeda.

  • yeah i was right, i didnt even read the description. world's end girlfriend + 7 players. the 7 players are censored out to not take away the attention from the actualy band members/

  • I think the one with the face blured is Katsuhiko Maeda, the one and only member of WEG.

  • I like WEG. They're not as epic as GY!BE, but they're definitely up there.

  • This live version is, by far, the best.

    WEG is amazing.

    WEG + Mono = heavenly.

  • Seriously... If anyone can find me sheet music or tab for this song, I would be sooooo fucking greatful!

    WEG = Godlike.

  • I made a tab for the whole song awhile back. I'll send you the midi if you make a Guitar Hero chart. ;)

  • Such a good song! I the video were better quality though.

  • This video STILL kicks ass.

  • WE TAKIN' THIS VIDEO OVER MUFUCKAS

  • the boy who sent this to me, means smthng to me. he doesnt know. he couldnt tell.

  • this comment enhances this song's meaning to me by like a trillion

  • yeah, Why is his face sencored?

good godd music... many moods his songs..

  • makes me sound cheesy but that is beautiful!

  • just wonderful!

  • It's amazing!!Thanks.

I live in Japan, but it is sad that evaluetion of this band is lower than that of some other countries...

  • AHHHH! INCREDIBLE!

  • the saxophone was an important part of his art as a noise factor.

  • Why is his face sencored?

  • duh

  • Is there ANYWHERE I can get this video?

    Its plain amazing.

  • WEG is a genious... and the show he puts up for live audience is just freaking EPIC...

  • Interesting! I've wondered how WEG would elaborate such music for a live audience; suffice it to say, you would need an orchestra to really convey the same sense of feeling in a song as elaborate as Scorpius Circus. With this, I understand where astralsmirk is coming from; there simply isn't enough depth/feeling, if you've listened to the original version enough times.

  • Where's the ending segment from?

  • Amazing,, Increible, este hombre y su banda realmente son geniales, Me hubiera gustado verle la cara pero entiendo que su música es lo que habla por el.

    Gran Video

  • i really hate to say this, but this was actually painful for me to watch. I love this guy more than anything, but this live performance just butchers the song when compared to the album version. I understand that it's not an easy song to play, but beyond that, I think some of the players are missing the point or the mood of the song & are instead all trying to show off. I couldn't even watch the whole thing. Just butchered.

  • It's so typical of people on forums or comments to not be able to respond without name-calling. I'm sorry - i must have missed the disclaimer that said "Positive comments only."

  • eh maybe it's just my opinion, but i prefer this live version to the album version. i think they sound almost like two entirely different songs when compared.

  • Yeah, I gotta agree. The saxophonist was just painful.

  • just wonderful

  • Wow, Didn't know he played with a band. Superb!

  • I prefer black hole bird and this song, this album really kicks ass

  • Commenting to say Katsuhiko Maeda is a genius.

  • no u

  • oh ok

That guy just needed some Karma :)

    WEG = amazing

There, that's my positive remark for the day.

  • Listening to World End Girlfriend on the Sonar Festival 2004 in Barcelona... Great Sound!

  • I love the way the drummer spins his stick round when the guitar comes back in at 3:10 as if to say "Oh, it's on now!"

  • They're fucking unreal!! Perfection in music!

  • Absolute brilliance. This guy is amazing as a solo performer, too - authough you can't beat the full band stuff!

  • Moving, somre, Triphop meets folk and russian realism - fusion, art and noisr. I liked it. Was I overthe top with the comments

  • awesome band! thanks for uploading this
