As good as this match eventually ended up being, imagine a healthy Michaels at the peak of his career against Austin at the near-peak of his career. It would have been the greatest match in history. Damn Shame.
stone cold beating mike tyson in a match, ROFL, no chance in a billion years, Mike Tyson is crazy as heck, his life is not a WWE gimmick, he grew up and was successful in brownsville brooklyn NY, not some lame family of deer hunters, Mike Tyson would in a real fight deliver two punches and fights over, but not taking anything away from Stone Cold, he is tough as heck and one of the most charismatic wrestlers in the WWE, but Mike Tyson, way over Stone Cold's head on that one.
anyone else miss these days? Matches with great build ups not to mention the match ended up being a classic not only cause it was Austin's first WWE Title win but it was an amazing match
@c3789 DX and the nWo were both born out of the Clique anyway (HBK, HHH, Waltman, Hall, Nash) -- the nwo/wolfpac hand sign was actually the Clique sign.
@TheVampireLucinda@TheVampireLucinda They have had higher attendances in the past 2 Wrestlemanias, had 70k+ attendances both times. Dont forget that Wrestlemanias in the 90s were held in much smaller arenas, and thus easier to sell out.
LOL, I know, right? Somehow, Wrestlemania has become just an average PPV, with the exception over the past two years being Shawn Michaels vs. the Undertaker I and II.

I guess with Shawn Michaels being a different person today all of this would be his doing for the most part. Notice today the way HBK does the DX chop. HBK was the first to do it on WWE TV back in the 90's. I recall hearing how he refuses to do it the way he did during the Attitude Era because of the original intended message and cause he doesn't want his kids to see that behavior from him. I can't even remember the last time I've heard him say "Suck it". Completely different now from then.
When you say WE, i think you mean I. There are thousands of retards out there that think its real. I'm just wondering why on earth these individuals think its real...
Really, man, they've practically been advertising that everything's staged for the last 15 years or so. Add in the movie The Wrestler from last year, and who actually buys that this is 100% real?
@grandp83 I don't think that any true fans buys pro-wrestling as 100% real - I view it like a film, people run around doing storylines, it's entertaining - but unlike most entertainment industries, here people can get seriously hurt - which is the only point I do argue in terms of realism !
If anything, most people (fans and non-fans alike) don't respect enough the amount of much genuine pain wrestlers go through on a match by match basis. Jim Cornette noted that wrestlers used to pretend to get hurt and have everyone buy it whereas today's wrestlers are hurting each other for real and no one buys it, and that's true. Genuine belief in wrestling is at probably an all-time low, which makes the 'they don't know it's fake' pov seem even more stupid. They know too well that it's fake
@Cyberpit2000 another thing you have to take into account is that they're not wrestling every monday night on raw. they're wrestling at house shows and stuff like that so it's non stop wrestling which can weaken the body over time. They don't get a vacation unless they're really hurt. It's physically grinding.
@osaji922 That is true; but it depends on the wrestler as well. People like Batista get injured alot because they are not in shape to wrestle a full schedule but more importantly they can't wrestle. Whereas people like Jericho never get injured because they know what they were doing in the ring and are in shape. Plus in modern times; select wrestlers can get part time contracts so they are guarenteed a certain amount of time off in the year and can work only a small amount of house shows
@Slimbellio14 I wouldn't say retards but rather innocent children. I think or at least hope for the most part that the older teens and adults know that it's not 100% real but rather 60% real. These days I'd say 10% real.
yeahh well who won the wwe champ in wrestlemanina 14 STONE COLD! and who became a has been for the next for years! shawn micheals! who do u like me now u faggot!
First SID, then bret and after wrestlemania michaels. When all the main event competition was gone, that's when they decided to give hunter a chance at the top, otherwise he would had been forgotten like his dx buddies today.
He, Rock and Austin were the only ones there ready and prepared to step up to the big time. Others around the same stage on the card were far too old to be made into the main event and kept there for a number of years.
When Woyah got fired and the nWo formed at the same time, WCW began to whip WWF's butt. Austin picked up the ball that Woyah dropped just two years earlier.
That staredown still gives me chills. HBK was my favorite wrestler and I was really starting to like Austin at this point. This was a match I really wanted to see. Regardless of these two fighting a couple years, this match at Wrestlemania 14 was a whole different ballgame.
Eh I don't think so. Everything he said was well within the realm of storylines. Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels's confrontations...now THERE are some instances where they both would say how they really felt about each other--or slip in some obscure digs--during their interviews.

I think Austin was saying some things to him that weren't scripted because he really didn't like Shawn at the time personally, or professionally.
