I heard in some "expert" interview that Curly was slapped so many times, he was getting a callous on his FACE.

Curly also dropped to the floor and ran around, pivoting on his ear when he'd forget his lines.

An independent TV station here shows "Three Stooges Marathon", over an hour of shows. My son is 15 and he's NEVER HEARD of them. Now he has!

@EricWilke1141987 Sorta. But you gotta realize these guys were all in Vaudville, where Slapstich was king. They came up with ways to keep the risk of injury to a minimum.

For example when they slap each other, they kept their fingers seperate and loose. It's more like brushing their fingers across their face rapidly. They do it so quick its impossible to make out. Occasionally a real slap got through but being slapstick pros they shrug it off. Sound effects help contribute to the illusion
