@mydadbrucelee yeah mate, I was there too, flew in from Malta for the festival and I hand picked that festival just to realize a dream which I had deemed impossible.. seeing Pulp live. It was a highlight of my life, too stunning for words
Pulp launched an unbelievable sonic and lyrical assault on triteness, and this is one of their masterpieces! Saw them live a few days ago in Athens and they were simply outstanding. I sure hope they will continue and produce some new material, even though Jarvis' farewell comments left that in doubt.
@TheKnightsOfCamden i agree, i have sessions where i repeatedly watch this, the performance is masterful and hypnotic and the song is simply incredible, the lyric is a modern shakesperean tradgedy, only bettter ! damn...3rd view on the bounce aleady.....take your year in Provence..........................
I love this song always play it when I am pissed off at my boyfriend and sing it very loudly so he knows I am pissed at him!!! lol needless to say he hates this song!!! lol
I'm 18 and I've grown up listening to Pulp and Jarvis, and it kills me that people my age don't appreciate music like this. I sent this to one of my best friends, 10 seconds later he tells me it's "boring". It seems that if it’s not loud and shouty, or if you can’t dance to it it’s not worthy of listening to. No appreciation for music with real heart and soul. Such a shame.
i think this song speaks mostly to men.even though i get it.I just can't imagine being with someone who's so rich that they dnt understand things.or someone who is so low that they are repulsive.
Holy shit. Just the bass on this version is amazing by itself, let alone the entire thing as a whole. You just can't hear that bass on the recording like you can here. Great performance.
Hard for me to pick a favorite PULP song. Like most music I don't have a particular favorite, however as renditions, and performances go, this is just awsome. Thanks for a great post!!! You and PULP rule !!
im not a great Jarvis?pulp fan but THIS has toi be one of the most awesome songs and incredible performances ever...of anything !! cant stop watching this..and he shopuld be made poet Laureate for this lyric...
My favourite parks are car parks / Grass is something you smoke / Birds are something you shag / Take that 'Years in Provence' / And shove it up your arse
JARVIS....the most understated underappreciated and underrated composer of modern times his intriquate use of the english language and his ability to use it to paint a twisted picture is unmatchable and unsurpassed by anyone.the van gogh of music..a legend.
how i will blow your paradise away.... played this to my girlfriend the night we split up she left me for another and my life was shattered, thanks jenny

The crowd gasp at Cocker's masterful control of the bicycle, skillfully avoiding a dog turd outside the corner shop.

I remember watching this when it was originally broadcast.
It was brilliant, and it's stood the test of time, perfectly.

Poetic, target-hitting, topical. John Lennon, you ain't even in the same league! I can identify with every word of his lyrics. Where are you Jarvis?
