@fightme700 haha yeah.. well i want headphones with actually good sound but i want it stylish as well... for example i tried beats and they literally suck, i loved beyer dynamics but i don't like their design... can u recomend me one in between? or even better under a $300 budget?
My favorite way to wear headphones on one ear is just putting on of the sides behind my ear. All I need to do to balance it is tilt it a little bit more forward. That it probably the most comfortable way to do it, I'm actually doing it right now.
@thevoicerapstar He is Tyll Hertsens, former boss at Headroom. IIRC, his reviews are professional (paid) reviews, but this is a very long time hobby of his, and he is known for being THE headphone maniac.
Tyll! Audio Technica is releasing a white version of these and a 50th anniversery version also! Its on there site! Care to get a pair to show us? Pleeeeeaseee
@hobadahee It's generally a mix of the drivers and pads loosening up from use, and the user becoming acclimated to the sound. Most physical burn-in happens happens within the first week of use, depending on how often the can was used at what volume.
@hobadahee look at the audio technica ath pro700mk2's. It is pretty much these headphones, with diahrea inducing bass. Look them up, and look at some reviews. I'm getting them soon :p
@InnerFidelity only considering the sound, can u rank these headphones in order: soul ludacris sl150, beats studios, v moda cross fade lp, v moda m80, sync and street by 50, bose ae2, oe2, and the audio technica 50?? Thanks. Keep up the good work
Lol beats are fucken gay. Haha if you compair beats to any real head phone your an idiot. Listening to music with beats is like listening to a different song haha they fuck around with the frequencys to blend everything togeather to make a casual listener ask and tell their mom for Christmas. And that how music should sound like when in he studio get the FUCK OUT
@YUPIMAGORDON Typical beats user "beats r the best blah blah blah"...u have no idea what ur talking about bro. ur obviously not an audiophile so shut it and let these men discuss real headphones ok :) good boy
@InnerFidelity thanks.... yeah i kinda change my mind about grado. their air chamber technology got me curious, i might get something from senheiser or beyerdynamics... any suggestion for $200-250 price range. thanks again
@InnerFidelity haha I bought grados and they sound good but the cord twisted around and around and around, it had this natural awful twisted tension built in from when I got them on the part going from the earpiece to this center combining piece, they got so bad eventually that they broke. it had this awful plastic chunk thing where the cords met near your upper chest, super bulky, annoying, and it got caught constantly on anything and everything. I think I wanna buy these ones!
@InnerFidelity only considering the sound, can u rank these headphones in order: soul ludacris sl150, beats studios, v moda cross fade lp, v moda m80, sync and street by 50, bose ae2, oe2, and the audio technica 50?? Thanks. Keep up the good work
@InnerFidelity I have a pair of the M50's and i love them to bits but i want a second pair of headphones that have like the M50's, good all round quality but that have a bit more bass. I have been looking at the Audio technica ATH pro700mk2 and the Phiaton ms400s, do you have any others which would be better or which one out of those two? Please reply, thanks in advance.
hey everyone, I have got a pair of these I am looking to sell as I never use them anymore. They would be around half the price and are in perfect condition. If you are interested, please send me a message and I will make a video showing you them in detail!
Thank you for this great review! But I have a question: What's about the Denon D2000 or Fischer-Audio 003? Both headphones are highly recommended on the internet. What would you suggest?
Why are the M50's so much more popular than Shure SRH-840s? The 840's are so much more detailed than M50's, and their sound signature is much more favorable for anything except hiphop, some techno, and certain types of metal (power, thrash, and screamo).
@drgnfrc13 Exactly the reason you just said. The audio newbie seems to want bass, and the M50 will give them just that. Metal, hip hop and electronic are what's hot, and if the m50 does it better, it will be more popular.
It's easy to recommend the m50, but I feel it gets too much praise.
@aeriescannonfodder I hear ya. But what would you recommend instead? I end up going with the CAL!, M-80, Mix Master, Amperior at the moment. Sometimes I feel like the best reco for most is that Monoprice cheap can. Wow somebody, and then let them look around from there.
@aeriescannonfodder I would think pop, rock, R&B, heavy/progressive metal, alternative, etc. would be more popular, and all of these genres sound significantly better through 840's... I guess you're right about the bass, though.
I am using audio technica ATH m50 to listen to this review right now, I must say that the highs are a little by annoying, and some songs do cause crackle, which I have only experienced with these headphones. but the bass is good, even without an amp and the mid is good just not as strong as I would like.
@Gamebanga leave them connected to your device on a looping playlist on 50% or higher volume connected to a charger when u are not using them or sleeping, i heard they may need up to 24-48 burn in hours, if u dont the bass will still sound great but once they burn in ive heard they are more amazing then they already are watch this review if u haven't already /watch?v=nLrZ4AZNX6s
@Gamebanga Burn-in is somewhat of a myth. Headphones do change somewhat over time, but any significant change after the first 2-3 hours of playback is going to be primarily psychological, as it typically only takes about an hour or two for headphones to reach their intended sound.
I have the ATH-m50s. I was going to go for the D2000 initially but settled for these due to the unavailability of the D2000. I am wondering what models I should research for my next upgrade? I was looking to spend about 500-600 dollars. I was looking at HD650 but I place a lot of importance on bass and I wasnt sure if the HD650 would please me in the same way that the ATH-m50 pleased me in the low end. D5000 was another contender, as was the D7000 depending on price. What models do you recommend
I'm trying to decide between these and the comparable sony model (zdxr700whatever), thing is I'm willing to spend more (say $100) to get better headphones. Is there something that maybe peak my interest. (I'm a rock and blues enthusiast btw)
I hate to do this.. but Beats Studio's are the only over-ear ones i have ever had. I recently broke them and need a new pair. I have checked the V-Moda Crossfade LP2's and tried them, they are pretty good but not exactly what i'm looking for, and before i settle i want to know what i'm doing. I listen to Rock, Reggae, Techno, Acoustic, Jazz, Classical, Rap, R&B, Alternative.. you name it i listen to it.. I need headphones to match what i need, sub $350 is what i'm looking to spend.. Any advice?
@yylikeutube123 the sennheiser 598 have a better sounds than the other two but it's more expensive and don't have a good look, the denons have a great sound and great price but in my opinion the m50 is the best...comfort,FABOLOUS sound, sexy look, can be found for half the price
@fernie8691 these will have better bass, the 598's will have better mids and trebs. take your pick. (side note: i personally enjoy my 595s SO MUCH i would have to recommend them) (595s and 598s are identical on the inside)
Hey, your videos are very helpful and interesting, and I've learned quite a lot about headphones from them. But I'm having some trouble, I would like to buy some headphones for about 150 dollars with a lot of bass, but still nice mids and highs. What would you recommend? And I have one question about the Klipsch Image Ones, since theyre on-ear will people around you be able to hear what you're listening to? Thank you.
For monitoring, whould you recommend the sennheiser hd280 pro or Audio Technica ATH-M50? From what I've heard, the 280 seems to be "light" on the low end, and the M50 seems to have a heavier low end. I just want a flatter sound.
@THEkdude420 Everyone wants beats because they are so popular, their price is so high because its by dr. dre. In reality they don't sound as clear as the ATH-M50. The ATH-M50 have a deeper bass and have very clear high tones. For sound they are 8.75/10, Beats Pro are 7/10. If u want to be like your friends than get the beats (they are still very good). But if you really want great sounding headphones get the Audio Technica ATH-M50.
one other question, if i buy the Audio Technica ATH-M50, do i need a sound card on my pc to hear this headphones at its full potential (volume and audio quality)? if so what would you recommend?
I really like your reviews, they are very accurate, and i would thank you a lot if you could answer my question, i have seen many reviews of audiophiles and gamers reviewing high-end headphones, but i have never seen an audiophile reviewing gaming headphones/headsets, i love music as i love gaming, and there are a lot of gaming advertised headsets at a price of 150$ (razer megalodon), my question is have you tryed them? what should i buy? is virtual 7.1 surround worth it or this HP are superior?
hey im gettin headphones for christmas and i like bass but i also like loadsa music... will these provide good bass? should i get the ath pro 700mk2s? i want a pair of headphones that sound good with basically all music but also have good bass
@licandres01 Passive, When you put them on your ears it sounds like putting your hands over your ears, when music is playing, you're gonna hear almost nothing outside.
@sebster369 I have these headphones, They leak if you have them turned up all the way, but it really isn't that bad. Good choice though, you'll be happy, these headphones sound much crisper and neutral then the Beats loose overwhelming bass.
I've heard that compared to other headphones around the same price range, the M50 has recessed mids (mainly vocals are not as clear). Did you also find this to be the case?
First of all, thx for all ur reviews, they surely make the world better !!!
Now, I'm settled down to two of them as the coming thanksgiving gift for myself, which one would u recommend then? (Music major, so I do care the sound quality).
Audio Technica ATH-M50 or Soul by Ludacris SL150? Look forward to ur help! Thx!
@InnerFidelity Hi Tyl could you do a review on the Audio Technica ATH-WS55 it's meant to be a great budget headphone, would love to hear your review and opinion on it. Could you also do some more budget headphone reviews like that of the JVC HA M750 or AKG K518. Love all your reviews & cheers for sharing your knowledge!
are this good for casual listening, on the ipod? i mean the best headphone that i've listenined were the beats by dre, so this would be better for listening for like 2 hours with an ipod?
Thank you, very informative and much better than those other 'reviews' that are really just you chaps showing us what they bought. Well done sir and thanks once more. I have now added these to my audition list. Harry
@fightme700 haha yeah.. well i want headphones with actually good sound but i want it stylish as well... for example i tried beats and they literally suck, i loved beyer dynamics but i don't like their design... can u recomend me one in between? or even better under a $300 budget?

For monitoring, whould you recommend the sennheiser hd280 pro or Audio Technica ATH-M50? From what I've heard, the 280 seems to be "light" on the low end, and the M50 seems to have a heavier low end. I just want a flatter sound.

hey guys im looking for some really good headphones for christ mas i was thinking of getting the pro beats, what do you think. please reply
THEkdude420 2 months ago
@THEkdude420 Everyone wants beats because they are so popular, their price is so high because its by dr. dre. In reality they don't sound as clear as the ATH-M50. The ATH-M50 have a deeper bass and have very clear high tones. For sound they are 8.75/10, Beats Pro are 7/10. If u want to be like your friends than get the beats (they are still very good). But if you really want great sounding headphones get the Audio Technica ATH-M50.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

serltkughersliugh 2 months ago
one other question, if i buy the Audio Technica ATH-M50, do i need a sound card on my pc to hear this headphones at its full potential (volume and audio quality)? if so what would you recommend?
btonka85 2 months ago
I really like your reviews, they are very accurate, and i would thank you a lot if you could answer my question, i have seen many reviews of audiophiles and gamers reviewing high-end headphones, but i have never seen an audiophile reviewing gaming headphones/headsets, i love music as i love gaming, and there are a lot of gaming advertised headsets at a price of 150$ (razer megalodon), my question is have you tryed them? what should i buy? is virtual 7.1 surround worth it or this HP are superior?

@InnerFidelity for gym and home usage what u recommend?
AngelBogy23 1 month ago
@licandres01 Passive, When you put them on your ears it sounds like putting your hands over your ears, when music is playing, you're gonna hear almost nothing outside.

Can you take/make calls with this one? I.e. Is there a mic?
DrTadHusseinWinslow 2 months ago
do the leak, cause i havebeats studio and im replacing them for these ath-m50,
so my main reason to switch my beats is obvioulsy sound quality, and leakge.
so my main question is if they leake?
sebster369 2 months ago
@sebster369 I have these headphones, They leak if you have them turned up all the way, but it really isn't that bad. Good choice though, you'll be happy, these headphones sound much crisper and neutral then the Beats loose overwhelming bass.

from a sound quality standpoint, would you recommend the M50s or the AKG k240s?
dvp834100 3 months ago
I've heard that compared to other headphones around the same price range, the M50 has recessed mids (mainly vocals are not as clear). Did you also find this to be the case?

@InnerFidelity Hi Tyl could you do a review on the Audio Technica ATH-WS55 it's meant to be a great budget headphone, would love to hear your review and opinion on it. Could you also do some more budget headphone reviews like that of the JVC HA M750 or AKG K518. Love all your reviews & cheers for sharing your knowledge!
CiaranVanDon 3 months ago
@InnerFidelity Why do you suggest the M-80's over the ATH-M50 or SL150? have been looking between those two as well so just was wondering.

are this good for casual listening, on the ipod? i mean the best headphone that i've listenined were the beats by dre, so this would be better for listening for like 2 hours with an ipod?

Thank you, very informative and much better than those other 'reviews' that are really just you chaps showing us what they bought. Well done sir and thanks once more. I have now added these to my audition list. Harry
