If carp are eating the food of native fish than what do the native fish eat, what do carp eat? I catch carp on corn and bread. Never caught a carp on a bass lure or catfish bait like chicken livers. Also common carp have been here since the late 1800's. They were brought because people claimed the lakes and rivers had low numbers of fish. This was before they were here. I think if you took all the carp our of any body of water the number and size of game fish would stay the same.
As you have pointed out, carp eat almost anything, INCLUDING BASS EGGS AND FRY. I have personally witnessed them tormenting catfish and trout as well.

Carp killers are bass and trout fisherman who don't have enough skill to catch bass and trout and blame it on carp. Besides trout, bass, and catfish are all invasive if stocked and the common carp was stocked intentionally also. I used to fish for bass but why? Carp fight so much harder. Catch and release:)
What carp are you catching? I fish for 10 to 15 pound carp with 6 pound test line...all carp do is pull, so all it takes is enough line for them to wear themselves out pulling in a straight line....pound for pound, a trout is much more muscular than a carp, and a smarter fighter.
I think you fish for carp because you have something in common....you're both bottom feeders!

@floridafishing1219 but the issue with that is it would probably be much more difficult, take longer, and probably be more expensive, not to mention if they just throw them into one lake it will get over populated and then they will probably die of starvation or dizzese, and if they distribute them evenly eventually they will run out of places to dump them or they could kill other species and make many lakes un usable for anything other than drinking water and carp fishing.

They, along with several other carp species, happen to be a huge threat to our waterways and they're inhabitants. Our govt has gone to great lengths to eradicate similar species in the past, using electro-shock and chemical poisoning. These divers are performing the same service for free and in an eco-friendly manner

Zero by-catch, the fish die faster than in industrial gillnets, and it requires serious skill to spearfish - more skill with pole spear than any other method. Any muppet can catch a fish with a rod and reel. If the haters had to be responsible for killing their own food instead of paying someone else to do it via supermarkets and fish factories, they would starve.

According to your standards, we should never use insecticide to kill unwanted 'defenseless' ants, roaches, or termites either? These fish are on the extermination list just like the others. A government stocking the carp does not make them NATURALIZED. Many invasive species have been introduced on purpose....the environment still finds them invasive and suffers.

The true ignorance really resides with some of the people commenting on the video. The carp speared in this video are a non-native species in the body of water they were hunted in. They, along with several other carp species, happen to be a huge threat to our waterways and they're inhabitants. Our govt has gone to great lengths to eradicate similar species in the past, using electro-shock and chemical poisoning. These divers are performing the same service for free and in an eco-friendly manner

Smash-em all. 2 observations; 1: these fish are invasive pests, 2; why all the hate about spearing? Zero by-catch, the fish die faster than in industrial gillnets, and it requires serious skill to spearfish - more skill with pole spear than any other method. Any muppet can catch a fish with a rod and reel. If the haters had to be responsible for killing their own food instead of paying someone else to do it via supermarkets and fish factories, they would starve.
