Kobashi is freaking immortal. He received lots of Homicide Backdrops, Western lariats, elbows, tiger drivers 91, vadersaults and survived kiddney cancer...Is he even human?
I think the two best wrestlers ever seen are Steve Williams and Stan Hansen.C'est tout pour le moment(réplique de Benjamin Castaldi)LOL!!!AAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! BACKDROP!!!!!LARIATOOOOOOOOOO!!!OTTOSHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!
Its creepy to see old footage of Misawa taking the move. Of course Saitos Backdrop wasnt as intense as the version Dr.Death usually used as his finisher, but still...
Misawa didn't even die from a backdrop driver, so why go to these lengths to talk crap about the move? He got hit with a normal belly to back suplex, a staple in Japanese wrestling.
What happened to Misawa was an accident and fans all over the world will surely miss him, but sadly accidents are bound to happen all the time. Even in WWE, where the wrestling is so restricted, someone could end up dying from the simplest moves.
Interesting. I felt self conscious about watching old vids of Misawa taking one of those moves at first. But it's not so bad to watch them now despite it only being one week ago since his death. Yet it's nearly 2 years after the Benoit mess and I still can't watch one of his matches without feeling self-conscious. Just an observation. (and don't bother with any "wellthatsbecausehesakiller" comments because I won't bother reacting to them)
What i mean is, we know wrestling is fake so i dont see what the point in dropping people on ther heads is for, it just puts them in danger for no reason, just keep it safe, the moves can still look great.
I agree exciting move but to do ti every night is just stupid , misawa unfortunetly was the guy that this happened to , but will the wrestler stop using the move ?? did people stop using the mid rope moonsualt after hayabusa yes and the power bomb after the giant , droz and holly to name a few hurt from that move yes so will the wrestlers leran ? not sure
I've taken this move quite a few times and I always made sure I never came down on the angle Kobashi and Misawa did. I have a very strong neck but even I won't land right on it like that.
It just depends on the person taking it. Vertical back bumps are the most dangerous bumps to take, but it's just part of the game. What happened with Misawa was horrible and it'll affect the way matches are put together, but this move won't go anywhere cuz it's a staple move in puroresu.
It would've been cool to see Williams and Austin feud, with Williams threatening to break Austin's neck with this move.. would have made for great matches with the crowd cringing whenever Williams went for the move on Austin
If it wasn't for that Brawl for All bullshit the sky could have been the limit for Dr Death in the WWF. They could've built a promo package around him showing footage of his matches in Japan and how dangerous this move was and how it could end the career of Stone Cold.. it would've made Steve Williams into an instant badass in the WWF.
God knows Vince wouldnt want Dr.Death be bigger than the almighty Stonecold tho! ....I do agree with both of you....it wouldve been money to see Williams and Austin have a feud...But then again we're talking about Vince McMahon, the same guy that brought us Bastion Booger and the money draw that was KWANG!!!....
At 0:52.. that's gotta be the worst possible way to land.. Kawada gets spiked right on top of his head, easily could have had a crushed vertabrae in his neck after that.
what i like about this move is that it looks like it should kill ya, or at least make you paralyzed, but some of these dudes have taken this move like thousands of times, gotta love Puro
Takeshi Morishima would use this move as his finisher and bring it to ROH.
A deadly move that Suicidaldragon listed as one of the ten most dangerous wrestling moves of all time.
The Backdrop Driver never fails to make me cringe. Bryan Danielson in particular could sell it very well.
However, no one can sell the move like Kenta Kobashi. I remember Samoa Joe delivering one to him at ROH Unforgettable on 2nd Oct 2005.
