  • Takeshi Morishima would use this move as his finisher and bring it to ROH.

A deadly move that Suicidaldragon listed as one of the ten most dangerous wrestling moves of all time.

The Backdrop Driver never fails to make me cringe. Bryan Danielson in particular could sell it very well.

However, no one can sell the move like Kenta Kobashi. I remember Samoa Joe delivering one to him at ROH Unforgettable on 2nd Oct 2005.

  • Damn never knew Dr.Death worked against John Nord in japan.

  • @SuperGrello2 ,thank you for reply,,but can you write by english or japanese?

cause i cant understand your s without shouryuken

  • Kobashi is freaking immortal. He received lots of Homicide Backdrops, Western lariats, elbows, tiger drivers 91, vadersaults and survived kiddney cancer...Is he even human?

  • God almighty Doc was so good. Only wish he got a run as World champ in the states. R.I.P

  • Beast move. I never knew what japanese wrestling was like :p I'm 13

  • 0:52 HOLY FUCK!

  • Misawa. Kobashi. Kawada.

Three kings of puro. Three kings of taking head drops. For fuck's sake it's gnarly.

  • One guy deserves a Backdrop Driver

  • who got backdroped driver the most times?

    misawa or kobashi?

  • @BUTTHEAD45Rulez I would say Misawa. He took sick headdrops and backdrops and any move from everyone.

  • RIP, Dr. Death. One of the true greats in the sport.

  • i seriously can stand to see misawa take this move, ever since his death atleast

  • One of the greatest moves EVER!!

  • I just marked the fuck out! AMAZING!

  • Best backdrop ever!

  • @KaguyaTorei: Agreed. I tried a few years ago to replicate it and came decently close, but that man... that man had it down to a science

  • I think the two best wrestlers ever seen are Steve Williams and Stan Hansen.C'est tout pour le moment(réplique de Benjamin Castaldi)LOL!!!AAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! BACKDROP!!!!!LARIATOOOOOOOOOO!!!OTTOSHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!

  • I love that move. Dr. Death´s the man.

  • @Takerfanatic93 I'm really agree with you because it's really an extreme wrestling move!!!SHIT OH MY GOD!!!!!

  • theres a guy on youtube claiming that this was only ever called the backdrop driver once in a match in 93 and its always been known as homicide. cock

  • TheSuicidaldragon, I assume.

  • RIP STEVE WILLIAMSU!!!

  • 1:54 sucked... Misawa kept on getting the backdrop driver

  • Dr D should have been sponsored by the chiropractors of the world!

  • R.I.P. Dr Death, another one gone too soon.

  • domo arigato gozaimasu Williams-san

    R.I.P.

  • rip steve williams, a true champion

  • R.I.P Dr. Death...

  • favorite move ...

  • Misawa die from a heart attack.

  • How did he keep from killing people? Who in their right mind would take that move?

  • met him .he has a wrestling school in Ga

  • 自分にとって永久に最高外人レスラーです。デンジャラスバックドロップ最高!でもいままでよく死人が出なかったもんだ。

  • Thank you Dr. Death! Glad you didn't kill anyone....... Only in Japan Baby!!!

  • Be afraid. Be very afraid. (That what this video says to your neck and head)

  • for what negatives point for this guy??is true,Misawa die for Backdrop driver.

  • it's obvious why he is the doctor death..

  • Sweet Mary Mother of... Watching these as a compilation hurts even more.

  • Its creepy to see old footage of Misawa taking the move. Of course Saitos Backdrop wasnt as intense as the version Dr.Death usually used as his finisher, but still...

  • Misawa didn't even die from a backdrop driver, so why go to these lengths to talk crap about the move? He got hit with a normal belly to back suplex, a staple in Japanese wrestling.

What happened to Misawa was an accident and fans all over the world will surely miss him, but sadly accidents are bound to happen all the time. Even in WWE, where the wrestling is so restricted, someone could end up dying from the simplest moves.

  • @BigJoeMex87 you obviously didn't see the move done it him. It WAS a backdrop driver.

  • @BigJoeMex87 Example: Owen Hart

  • un poco repetitivo no creen?

  • Interesting. I felt self conscious about watching old vids of Misawa taking one of those moves at first. But it's not so bad to watch them now despite it only being one week ago since his death. Yet it's nearly 2 years after the Benoit mess and I still can't watch one of his matches without feeling self-conscious. Just an observation. (and don't bother with any "wellthatsbecausehesakiller" comments because I won't bother reacting to them)

  • This move is too dangerous!!!

    there neak must very strong~

    2009.6.13

    Backdrop was killed Misawa Mitsuharu

    A greatest pro wrestler

    we alaways miss you forever....

  • I would have disagreed up until a few days ago. Does Misawa's death legitimize this statement?

  • is there a wrestling necessary move?

  • What i mean is, we know wrestling is fake so i dont see what the point in dropping people on ther heads is for, it just puts them in danger for no reason, just keep it safe, the moves can still look great.

  • I agree exciting move but to do ti every night is just stupid , misawa unfortunetly was the guy that this happened to , but will the wrestler stop using the move ?? did people stop using the mid rope moonsualt after hayabusa yes and the power bomb after the giant , droz and holly to name a few hurt from that move yes so will the wrestlers leran ? not sure

  • I've taken this move quite a few times and I always made sure I never came down on the angle Kobashi and Misawa did. I have a very strong neck but even I won't land right on it like that.

It just depends on the person taking it. Vertical back bumps are the most dangerous bumps to take, but it's just part of the game. What happened with Misawa was horrible and it'll affect the way matches are put together, but this move won't go anywhere cuz it's a staple move in puroresu.

  • the same move that killed Mitsuharu Misawa

  • I wanna hear it ROUD....

  • This song rocks!!

May somebody tell me what the name of this song is?

  • "I love it loud" by KISS, it's off the album Creatures of the Night

  • there is a ring of hell that really bad people go to where they are backdropped by dr death for eternity.

  • so how long did he get away with doing this moved before they banned it?

judging from the tape about 50% of those went wrong.

  • That's just how it is in Japan. Only the WWE bans moves like this. Other companies let their performers do them.

  • Was John Nord at 1:02?

  • That was Jun Akiyama.

  • Abunai, abunai! Backdrop Driver, DANGEROUS!

  • ABUNAIIIIIIII

  • what a BEAST of a move by a beast of a man!

  • i wonder if williams and yoshihiro takiyama have ever fought because the backdrop driver vs the everest german suplex would have been great

  • agreed

  • That actually looked like Takayama @ 0:30 without his blond do.

  • surly, unfortunatly i dont think they did

  • Comment removed

  • It would've been cool to see Williams and Austin feud, with Williams threatening to break Austin's neck with this move.. would have made for great matches with the crowd cringing whenever Williams went for the move on Austin

  • If it wasn't for that Brawl for All bullshit the sky could have been the limit for Dr Death in the WWF. They could've built a promo package around him showing footage of his matches in Japan and how dangerous this move was and how it could end the career of Stone Cold.. it would've made Steve Williams into an instant badass in the WWF.

  • God knows Vince wouldnt want Dr.Death be bigger than the almighty Stonecold tho! ....I do agree with both of you....it wouldve been money to see Williams and Austin have a feud...But then again we're talking about Vince McMahon, the same guy that brought us Bastion Booger and the money draw that was KWANG!!!....

  • Good lord, it's a miracle more necks weren't broken with that move.

  • and flat goes all those poor necks :p *crazy japanese commentator* BACK DROP DRIVAAAAAA!@!@!@

  • My FAVORITE wrestler of all time!

  • Probably the deadliest variation of the Suplex.

  • whats the name of this song

  • I Love It Loud originally by KISS

  • I can bet this move will never be seen in a wwe ring.Damn i hate to be Misawa and Kobashi after receiving those backdrop driver

  • I'm pretty sure I saw Al Snow do it once. Not as well, mind you.

  • This video is so awesome! Dr. Death was the shit!

  • Kobashi, Misawa, Kawada, Akiyama and Taue... the five of All Japan were victims of that awesome move

  • When SvR 2009 comes out with the whole create a finisher thing I better be able to do this

  • It's even more horrible knowing that 4 of the BBDs Kobashi got were from one match. Fucking ouch.

  • If you were talking about their 1993 encounter then there was only 3... ONLY 3 lol

  • Oh, ONLY 3. I'm sure Kobashi doesn't remember any of them

  • 00:54 dang don't break anyone's neck or anything man!

    1:41 ouch. 2:02 d'oh.

  • At 0:52.. that's gotta be the worst possible way to land.. Kawada gets spiked right on top of his head, easily could have had a crushed vertabrae in his neck after that.

  • jesus Kobashi could've been dead with all of the backdrop drives he have taken damnn...

  • God, Kobashi took the worst of it.

  • Dr. Death Steve Williams is so awesome. His voice sounds identical to both Roadwarrior Hawks and Jesse Venturas.

  • I love this vid!! I love seeing Dr. Death and Gary Albright in the ring. Please post of those if you can!

  • I wonder what WWE kids would say ''Backdrop? So what!?''. I love this move!

    What's the song BTW.

  • I Like It Loud by Kiss (Steve Williams' Theme)

  • A WWE style backdrop is shit. If they saw Dr Death do one though like he does in Japan they'd go nuts for it.

  • This is one uncredible video! Nice work! Dr. Death rules!

  • sick move. and awesome vid :D

  • they don't call him doctor death for nothing

  • 2:03 u gotta wonder how Kobashi isnt dead =p

    BACKDROPPPPP DRIVAAAA!!!!

  • what i like about this move is that it looks like it should kill ya, or at least make you paralyzed, but some of these dudes have taken this move like thousands of times, gotta love Puro

  • there's nothing more satisfying than watching Misawa and Kobashi getting drop on their heads in slo-mo...
