  • Granny shifting instead of double clutching like you should, words of a very wise man

  • im 18 yrs old and i used doin that when driving our passenger truck fully loaded paseesnger back home in philippines :DD

  • 32 seconds in you scratched your balls

  • That was stupid...

  • Now, seriously, it's a bit hard taking your words seriously when you hold a steering wheel like that. I do realize that the road conditions allow it and you know how to steer, but still, it's... you know... :)

  • @theeltea you're a douche.. i grab the steering wheel with my dick so i can use my other two hands to do whatever the fuck i want.. btw i drive stick

  • that was just beautiful.

  • DOUBLE? WHAT MEANS THAT??

  • why u do that for your car?

  • DC may not be *necessary* with modern synchros, but it saves synchro wear (and rev matching saves clutch wear), not to mention that for the most part shifts ARE significantly smoother

  • @fledgehog I finally learned how to do this practicing on GT5. I then used it in a real car,and It does make your downshifts smoother even more so then single clutch heel toe. It's fun too.

  • When downshifting from 5th, 4th or 3rd under a braking situation I prefer a quick heal toe. Thanks for your time.

  • From 5th to 2nd you need to rev match and you don't want to hold the clutch in for too long. Double clutching is better because it's not as stressful on your transmission. I double clutch when switching from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 1st because it's not as stressful on the tranny.

  • I double clutch all the time. On up shifts it's not necessary unless you want to skip a few gears and don't want to hold the clutch in waiting for the engine to slow down. On downshifting too it's useful when you want to skip a few gears. Like from 5th to 3rd or even 2nd.

  • No point in DD Clutching with standard cars today.

but DP-ing a bitch on video and watching it is very important these days.

  • double clutch downshifting is only usefull in daily driver under 2 circumstances:

    1) You're driving fast and entering a turn in too high of a gear. In order gain control of your car you downshift, and in order to prevent the sudden lurch forward you double clutch down in to a lower gear.

    2) Used in conjunction with heel toe driving to save a bit of the brakes, launch out of the turn in the correct gear, and prevent your car form lurching out of the turn.

    My 2 cents. Google "Alexotics"

  • @Alexdc Or in a geo metro with bad synchronizers for first and second.

  • @matthagedon Great Point.

Please Google "Alexotics Auto Talk" and check out my website for some unseen motoring entertainment. Thanks

  • I have to do this from 2nd to 1st every time in 944T.

  • what is he doing?

  • does anyone use double clutch for daily driving though??

  • @jhaze918 No and not for racing either, it was used by old cars that didnt rev-match.

  • @jhaze918

    I do :)

  • @jhaqastar you must live somewhere where there is not much traffic then lol

  • @jhaze918

There's lot of traffic here hehe :P

  • @jhaze918 as he said the gear synchros in modern day cars are pretty good so double declutching is a bit pointless for daily driving...;)

  • @ilia93 i understood that part...i was just curious if any1 actually does or not...the most i do is single clutch rev match for daily...

  • so you don'th ave to brake when doing this?

  • It really isn't required. Although matching the revs on downchange whilst braking is a practise well worth getting into.

  • @bonnhew are you blind? do you even own/drive a car? he went from 3rd to 2nd -.-

  • @bonnhew lol you're dumb.

  • is the double clutch useful for doing turns or is it better to just single clutch to downshift.

  • @Jcas872008 double clutching w/ rev matching is useful i.e. when you're exiting the main road going into a junction that goes steep uphill. The turn is too sharp and the rise uphill too steep to be able to make it in 2nd gear, therefore you need to use 1st gear. In this kind of situation you don't want to go to a full stop on the main road in order to change to 1st gear, as that would block traffic coming from behind. What you do is slow down to 15-20 mph, double clutch, rev match, and shift to 1st.

  • I dont undrestand why in th world they press clutch twice when you can do it once press the clutch rev your engine at the same time shift it to lower gear and let go the clutch, I do this all the time.....

  • @sashk24 If you skip the neutral phase, you don't release forces on synchros

  • @sashk24 i thought the same shit....but he explains in the video the difference...its because of the synchronizers in the tranny

  • Ok tell me if I'm wrong. But I heard double clutching is when you clutch rev pop the clutch clutch again and shift into a higher gear?

  • you rev in neutral with clutch out

  • actualy, i should not say that, because not every person will be able to heel-toe in every day driving, the single clutch rev matching works well when there is no need to apply the brakes, but if brake input is required then heel-toe is the best technique to use, and produces a beautiful sound and great results at eliminating stress on the clutch and that pull back jerk forward motion of the car.

  • OR! u can learn to heel-toe and then the previous two techniques are pointless

  • Epic win.

  • @driftspecmotorsports

Why the hell would you put your foot on the brake (heel toe) while driving straight down the road? Congratulations on attempting, but failing, to sound cool on the Internet.

  • @poledancerx Look whose talking...

  • @poledancerx he is just demonstrating the process dude, he is not racing!!

  • @LeontariF1

I wasn't talking about the poster of the video. I was talking about the guy saying you should heel-toe... the point of this isn't to slow down so why would you put your foot on the brake?

  • @poledancerx Typically when you heel-tow is when you are in threshold braking before entering a corner, otherwise you don't need to hit the brake pedal at all just match the revs and shift.

  • i have been doing this just because it made the car jerk not so much... and i figured it was better on the tranny.. i didnt know it was called double clutching. thanks.. very informative

  • @bmx214racer yea i do the same thing with my 98 jeep wrangler some say its stupid but its better for the tranny
