The Economics of the Military Draft

I think that countries should have both full time professional armies and a civilian military one as well, but without the use of any draft. Professional armies provide highly skilled soldiers, while paramilitary ones act as a deterrent. Nobody should be forced. Motivation comes from volunteering. That combined with a Second Amendment culture (the right to bear arms and practice suing it) is all any country ever needs. Conscription is just a political tool of fear mongering by the elite....

And even if it DOES make a better military it is still an aberration of American Principles, and a moral hazard in itself regardless of the validity of the war.

@GP850mAh No you misunderstand me. I am not anti military and I think serving is a good thing but only voluntarily. As I said I only want a voluntary Army I think people should fight the draft by all means!

@o13starsnstripes No one should be forced to die for other peoples way of life, they should get PAID as professionals, and the lesser of them the more incentive you've got to give. Our only duty is to pay our taxes. And that is on top of making sure that whatever war that is being fought is for defensive purposes only.

Draftees are ineffective. They just go there and die like dogs. A volunteer on the other hand, has the enthusiasm, skill and love for freedom.
