just perfect...but quick technical question , it seems that we were moving the camera around the model and still the subject are in focus..how is that, manual focus or automatic ..as far as i know that you can track moving object in D90 to be still in focus..COULD YOU ADVISE
get the d7000....also soft light is not the answer... next time cut the shot into the street, or something other then the singer the WHOLE time....its kinda narcissistic...but its a good try.
beautiful DOF, a little lighting to distinguish the singer from the background would make this perfect. i have a d90, and i loooove it. nice job on this video!
I love Nikon but I went with a GH2 for video. Nikon does give the best stills and even in video mode the colors are the best, but Nikon you have to be very careful for moire and aliasing problems.
All the next gen DSLR cameras from all the companies will be very interesting.
when she sings with that blurred moving city behind her, its looks as though its some footage being played on a projector screen & she's just been placed infront of it afterwards....
This would have looked sooooo much better if you had actually used some good lighting... the depth of field is good but the fact that you haven't got a backlight makes her head look like she is blended in with the 'blurred' background which makes her look shot wrong.
Is this serioiusly done with the D90 and would you say this is the best photo camera you have ever used? Just wondering I'm getting ready for photography school and was thinking of getting one!
@LBUNFORGETTABLE D90 is a very good starting camera. It would be sufficient for most school work I assume. There are definitely better camera out there, but for the price range of D90, this is in my opinion the best.
Nice video A+.. btw... what softere did u use for putting it together because ive been gettin serious problems using d90s footages in sony vagas.. and they wont import at all on adobe premiere or final cut on a MAC????
@StarfishPhoto How can you say Premiere is no good?! Sure, it's nowhere near as good as FInal Cut, but it's definitely better than the likes of WMM...
@NotTheMusicMan I have been a PC person all my life... but photo, video editing entice me enough to switch to mac. The premiere has way too many controls, and it require so much resource to process on my $500 computer. I can not preview it in real time because my computer is too slow, it has to buffer 5 mins for 20 sec replay. Eventually I gave up and switch to iMovie and FinalCut. iMovie is very easy to use and fits most my purpose, and it is fast. I never use WMM, so no comment.
Great video... i wanna know 3 things: did you use any light sources? and will the 50mm f1.8 have any differences to the f1.4.. & how many batteries would you suggest for shooting a video like this cause i've heard they run out quick
@Youngh88: thanks for the comment. The difference between f1.8 and f1.4 is most how much blur you want in the background. You get nice cinematic shot with f1.4 on half body. With f1.8, headshot is good, but half body, the blur not enough to achieve the effect I want. 0.4 f difference might not sounds much, but it is almost 30% difference. I have 3 batteries.
Very nice, ive noticed in my footage I get a lot of grain in my videos especially in dark areas shadows and things like that. You seem to have gotten around that. Any suggestions?
The D90 is official!!!! Nice work man, I like how you put this together. I will be upgrading from the d80 to the d90. My question to you is, how many clips of video can be captured, and the duration? Also, which memory disks would be perfect for ample video clips?
i like the singer a lot i bet if sum body famous was singing it opinion would be different...i guarantee it...

In 720p mode, it can capture up to 5 minutes per clip. I use a few 8G SDHC cards, which is like $20 each, and last whole day of footage shooting.
Have fun and good luck!
