  • Two problems: one of the screws on my camera would not come out. I finally stripped it & was ready to smash the camera. Then I took an old etching needle, very sharp & very strong, & managed to excavate around the screw and then push it around from the tiny edges, like doing surgery on a gnat. Second: my screen replacement did NOT have adhesive film on either side as shown. In trying to get the non-existent film off I chipped the glass corners a bit. Otherwise I did as shown and my camera works!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! WE FOLLOWED YOUR INSTRUCTIONS AND FIXED OUR CAMERA! PHEW FINALLY THE NIGHTMARE IS OVER! THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!

  • Thank you. and I also got the screen that needs the metal casing on the screen transferred, thank you SeeMoreKelly. Patience and this video saved me money and my great little camera.

  • Thank you ;)

  • Very useful. Many Thanks. Work fine. Bought on ebay at $22.00. Call Panasonic repair shop in Canada, would charge me $147.00 for part + labor !!!!. Took me 1 hour to repair myself. You must take your time, don't rush anything. Use a large table and strong light. Must have the proper tool. Not suitable for someone with very big finger as part are very small.

  • hi from greece!!!thank u for the help.u just save me more than 100 euros.thank u very much!

  • Buy this guy's screen, I just got one from elsewhere and had to pull a very thin metal casing off the screen to put on the new one(incredibly easy to bend this and make unusable). The screen he shows in this video has its own included, SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE.

  • Excellent! I tried a cheap ebay screen, which failed. Then tried yours. Though a bit more expensive, works like a charm :-)

  • great video... you are truely quick with those fingers!

FYI my replacement screen did not come with the metal bracket over the glass panel so I just removed the one from the broken panel, worked like a charm.

  • Thanks, just replaced my screen!

  • Dude..Almost see ur face from the mirror part of ur LCD replacement :) I dun care if u uploaded this vid to show off...It seemed more to help people coz it helped me saved $170-200++ SGD from sending my Lumix to camera hospital or Panasonics! Ordered the part from HongKong over Ebay at $33..it came within 7 days instead of the said 14-21 days..Then this evening I got it fixed! :D I'm jus a girl who NEVER attempted nitty gritty electronic stuff b4. Vielen Dank! Add me on fb? mswendytan@gmail.com

  • I will not make repair by so nervous and awkward: the tools are constantly likely to skid and stripe the screen; a large number of gestures does not compensate for their approximation. It can repair wheelbarrows, plow, but never fine technologies, its success rate must be 70% only…

  • By the way, about the tools, in my screen did not come with it as in some others, but just buy a PRECISSION SCREWDROWER in any shop, i took the one used by the clock men and really did well. Go for a good one, the cheaper do nothing, you con't be able to take even one screw!! forget to buy it at a "all 1€ shop" they are really bad and you'll have to spend money again. One good and you'll have it forever :) with about 10 € you have a buch of sizes and types.

  • Great video, the LCD came in 2 days and i got to fix it thanks to the video!! Now I'm ready for the next trip and do not need to buy a new camera + submarine housing which would have been a big spent!!

Carefull with all, but it si easy, i'm not the one to usually do this things and could do it with no pains... In less than half an hour brand new screen! (Needed to pause the video as he goes sooo fast, but no problem at all)

Thanks dude, this makes Internet a great thing for all of us!!

  • Does anyone know where to get a new mounting rack (in which the LCD fits)? The small connector broke, so now I've got a fixed LCD, but the connector is broken.

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN CONNECTING THE SMALL CONNECTOR!!!

    thanks

  • Ihr seid genial!

Ich habe Euch nur zu spät entdeckt. Nach dem nächsten "Unglück" bestelle ich bei Euch!

    Vielen Dank für die Anleitung!

  • Great!! I was wondering if i should by a new one but they are no more on the market, and now I'll order and replace the LCD million thanks!!!!

just a quiestion... anyone knows the exact size/tipe of screws used??

  • Freaking excellent! I destroyed the screen to my husband's Lumix and he was really pissed. Thanks to this vid I fixed it and it works great now! Thanks so much for posting this for us!

  • Thank you very much!!

  • Thanks a lot for this great video which avoided me to spend money for yet-another-numeric-camera !

I bought the screen on ebay and it took me something like 20 minutes to replace the screen.

    Problems I had:

    - one screw really difficult to remove

    - one screw lost on the floor (but found using a magnet !)

    - small connector not easy to plug in

I would advise people to operate on a white cloth (this avoids the second problem).

    Encore merci

  • @obernard75 can you send me the link for ebay i need it to buy it too!

btw you got the original, cause i know there lots of fakes on ebay. thanks in advance

  • Thank you so much for this video!!

  • Worked a charm. Bit of a problem with the screws as I managed to strip one. Realised later that only the back screws needed taking off. Had a bit of trouble with the wire tape until i figured out that it went under the white piece. Picked up the screen through the states.

Thanks a million for posting this very well put together video.

  • Same here . Excellent video . I only had a couple of snags , the first being the new LCD screen supplied did not have a protective film ( I spent a little while figuring this out ) . The other was the fiddly small cable , it needs a bit of a push to make the correct connection . Really helped though. Thank you

  • Thank you SOOOOOOOOO much, zweige9 :) Just got my camera going again watching this - YOU ARE A GENIUS! Now having a beer and feelin PRETTY pleased with myself! Danke!

  • hello

is the Panasonic Lumix TZ7 the thame display as Panasonic Lumix TZ8?

    please help me

    thanks

  • IT took me a lot more time than this guy, he is a pro!. About an hour of being very careful. My LCD did not come with the protective film . I had a few screws that just would not come out. I had to drill the heads off. The LCD that I purchased for $35.00 Worked great! I could not have replaced the part with out this video ( Lumix DMC-ZS3. ) I saved $120.00 Thank you!

  • Thank You So much £25.00 and I've got our TZ7 back.

  • Was gonna chuck my beloved camera until I saw this video, £20 for a new screen and just installed it myself..nerve wracking but it worked, so delighted. Thanks!

  • hey this is a great vid cheers for posting what size screw driver are the Phillips screws i seem to have some trouble finding the right ones

    cheers x

  • Thanks zweige9 camera all fixed, cheap cheap! My camera was dead for 1 year, was going to cost more to get it looked at than to buy a new one. Now its perfect. Cheers!

The only thing to be carefull of is if you get a screen from ebay thats not original it probably wont have the protective films over screen so just skip the part where you peel them off.

  • Nice Job, Thanks.

I see the ebay link to acquire new screen.

Is this an OEM part or ? wvvw.chip-tip.d e

I have various surgery tools to make it easy.

Reviews at dpreview of non OEM show rough quality.

  • A million thanks.. fixed up my display watching this.

  • Wonderful stuff. I had to remove the fine aluminium frame from the old screen as my new one did not have one. Howver managed and it works , though there are a few fingermarks. I am so pleased. Thanks amillion dude. Tweezer work is a bit suspect

  • Got the new screen, installed it but it was very difficult to put the various screen layers together and once I'd finished it was a new broken screen :-(( Bummer - now to buy another one and try again more carefully.

  • Thanks for this video. I ordered the replacement lcd and replaced it with no problems. Thanks again.

  • OK, I get it - the screen is opaque till it gets power, then the light shines through.

Clearly, then, I have a problem with my light. I did the job carefully, according to the video, but I may have damaged the cable somehow - though it looks OK.

  • I just did mine, but there's no light. I presume the small cable powers the light, but the screen is opaque, so the light can't shine through it - so how does it work? Is there an electrical contact between the part that is powered by the small cable and the screen, or is the small cable for something else, and the screen replacement has a light inside of it?

  • Danke! With this video I replaced the screen without any dificulties. However it was quite exciting... and sweat a lot! ;-)

  • @Heyjijdaar81

me too!!!! juuust like you lol! he took 7 mins and I took 30 :D Greetings from Argentina!!!

  • I replaced the screen, but now it's only got power but shows no image. Might that be due to a bad signal of the smaller connection? If so, is there a way to fix or replace this?

  • Thanks! My camera now lives to see another day.

  • Works great !!! Thanks so much...

I bought a TZ10 thinking it was at least as good as my broken TZ7 but it ain't

    (horrible sound on the videos)

My TZ7 is now back and in good shape, thanks to you !

    :)

  • Great video... I dropped my TZ7... and the screen is broken. The shop said repair will cost 200 euro. But looks like i can do it myself!

  • Super !! absolument essentiel pour faire le changement d'écran. Merci

  • Vielen Dank für dieses interessante Video :)

  • i find it so difficult to unscrew the camera..=(

  • Thanks so much brilliant video i fixed it in 30 minutes and the shop told me to buy a new camera, dankeschoen mein herr and now its time for a beer

  • Very Helpful. Thank you very much! Sehr hilfreich. Vielen Dank!

  • Thanks man, that was very helpfull.

  • Super Anleitung, Funktioniert tadellos, Display innerhalb von 3 tagen nach Österrech geschickt bekommen! ca. 200€ für eine neue Kamera gespart!!!

  • Really helpful video. Thanks so much!

  • Thanks a million. You saved me £110 for repair. I got the part and followed your instructions. It works great. many many many thanks. Keep it up.

  • thanks from italy, i'll think of you when i'll spend 110 € in beers instead of camera shop

  • Awesome, woke up this morning and I guess my wife founf my camera on the floor. Needless to say I have lines across my LCD now.

  • MILLE GRAZIE DA ITALIA

30€ (4 the new screen) and the camera is again brand new

    THANK YOU SO MUCH

    :-))))

  • Hi this is great! Just a quick query, I just bought the latest model -ZS7 and less than 2 wks of usage, my husband accidently cracked the LCD screen. I want to replace the screen by myself but couldn't find the exact LCD screen so can anyone please advise whether does ZS3 LCD compatible with ZS7? Thanks!

  • Fantastic. Thanks! My screen just cracked today and was afraid I'd have to buy a new camera.

  • Thank you very much for the video, it was very usefull. I only needed to change the thin frame around the spare part as it didn't have it on. so I removed form the old and attached it easily but carefully on the spare. around the 3:00' minute that is...

  • that's for the demonstration....really appreciate it!! and my camera is now very happy...hehe

  • Please could you tell me the make/model/size of the screwdriver that you used to remove the outer screws.

  • thanks!!!!just saved 100 euro!!!!

  • Cheers man, girlfriend dropped hers on new years eve, she'd only had it a month.
