The greatest part of this band is how, let's face it, weird they are. A song about the cycle of life won't mention birth or death - the way they use words to draw a picture is astounded. It should be EXPECTED of them to mention God without actually mentioning Him, or His name. Think about the song, not the words.
This album in its entirety is so thought through. The concept behind FANGS is completely creative (their most creative work yet, in my opinion), it's lyrically captivating and the storyline is facinating.
I guess most bands attempt to write something relateable...a song that people will hear on the radio and think, "that sums up exactly what I'm going through right now." Maybe this album isn't so marketable in this way...especially for the Christian industry, I guess.
...because it's so unique in this field. In addition to that apparently people are bummed they didn't mention God in this album. And if you are disapointed, then let me ask you: where did they diss him? I think people are too focused on hearing the word God in songs. If he's mentioned twice in a 50 second period, it's three times too few. People categorize artists as being too christian or not chistian enough and it's a pity that we can't just enjoy it for what it is. Just my thoughts. :)
@Javean its not the fact that they didnt diss Him but the fact that they didn't mention Him at all. Whats the point of christian music(or so called christian music) if it don't have anything to do with Jesus or salvation, etc? the whole purpose is to give God praise in His glory not some confusing hidden message stuff. The whole point is for God and God alone not for oneself's glory. I myself can't enjoy it just for what it is because of this fact.
@CFMDanny It's very harsh to say that because they didn't verbally say "God" in their new album that He isn't their focus, or that this album is for their own glorification. Christian music isn't simply encorporating certain words or messages into your songs; for many artists it's a ministry apparent through lifestyle. I don't see how anyone can say they are a Christian and not have that influence every major thing they do in life. It's unfortunate people say they're not as...(continued)
@CFMDanny ...(continued) "Christ centered" as they use to be. I wonder how many of those people have actually had a conversation with the band. I feel this album can be just as heartfelt as previous albums, regardless of whether they incorporated God's name in it or not. Sorry for the legnthy response. :)
@Javean Well put! Whether you're on one side of the spectrum or the other - "They mention God too much" or "They don't mention God enough", the fact is that Falling up makes some FANTASTIC music. And that really should be all that matters!
Falling Up is STILL the buziness BUT im not gonna lie this album isn't all that hot n not cauz of the lyrics eitha. Its jus not that strong. Every album they made got betta n betta captiva n exit lights were that hotness but this album went back a lil.
In case you didn't know, the story goes like this: There were these people on some planet who discovered there was poison on their children's clothes that would kill them. So they attached the threads to giant arrows and sent them to another planet. They awake one day to find arrows killed their children. The album is about an explorer going to the other planet to find out what happened.
I don't know, it may be a little far off for me...
dawn escapes has just a hint of crashings... but it's just enough to know it's falling up. a couple of the newer songs aside from the remixes were good. but this? I think they got a little too creative.
It sounds like they're -trying- to take a coheed and cambria story approach. but this new album is too lacking on structure.
Keep it coming Falling Up! they change their style at least a little every CD...I absolutely love this one, the lyrics are awesome...simply because they make no sense unless you look at them creatively, and their style is awesome! Yeah, they're getting softer... but that's why I listen to death metal alongside them... great music.
its just seems to me that they are backsliding big time. i mean the meanings to the lyrics are showing it.. they arent making sense... back then in there earlier albums like Crashing and Captiva and Dawn Escapes, the songs meanings where more christian based than ever now... it seems so weird...
They aren't backsliding, they are moving on and starting a new style. They are becoming more musically creative, and moving out of the somewhat restrictive genre of religious.
Fangs is based on a fictional story, Jesse said so on their myspace page. So it's parts of a fictional story.
I dunno, I kinda like the intro... Regardless, yeah, this song's awesome as well. Of course, I didn't expect any less, lol. Thanks PAC for uploading them all!
Does it matter if they're mentioning God every verse or not? They make good music, just enjoy it.

Falling Up album Fangs
it's good & creative
they creating new style of music
I think it Portraits a story Fictional
I also think it's Poetic a littlebit
because all of the songs connects to each
other in one story
the message of their songs is hard to understand really...

i mean look at the song Golden Arrows...it seems so idolatrous... check this out: "Cause I saw the scripted sleeves, I could have stayed but
Oh my goddess!
Oh my goddess I have left here
I said, who's in the walls?
I have to know her....." What?!? i dont understand.. ...
