Yeah, I know and I can understand that. I like clean walls on buildings too!

However, 5 Pointz is a place - the *only* place - where the truly talented can tag to their heart's content with impunity. It's illegal everywhere else, unless it's commissioned by the local community (graffiti art is also commissioned in Alphabet City in Lower East Manhattan, for example).

You know, I understand why the police and the government are so afraid that graffiti signifies gang presence. But really, it is so beautiful and it adds so much intrigue to a plain, boring wall. I like what they've started doing here in Toronto; paying people to design murals for specific buildings.
