Such a beautiful song. This song has been on my last two months, since I´ve downloaded this album, pretty nice also. But there´s certain kind of....I don´t know the actual word in english, but my god, what I´m trying to say is that this song has captivated me, the lyrics are amazing. The music is like the harmonies I guess i could find if only the paradise exists. I love this album. But more than the album I love this song.
@purphse I know this. What I was saying is that I miss the old Iron and Wine sound. Sufjan Stevens has a very similar sound to the first 2 Iron and Wine albums, hence I am really liking this.
The line that always gives me chills (and gives me the strange urge to start the song all over again because it's so beautiful) is, "in the morning, when you finally go / and the nurse runs in with her head hung low / and the cardinal hits the window." I honestly believe this is Sufjan's best song.
This song breaks my heart in the nicest of ways...it's the only song that brings up terrible memories in such a way that it doesn't make me want to forget them...Sufjan is amazingly talented
I just found out that a family friend, who was a police officer died today. He got into a car accident on the freeway. I'm so shocked and crying right now, and it's just sickly ironic that he was a devout Christian as well as the rest of his family. We're never safe, no matter what we do in life. We just have to trust in Him and hope for the best. But it's so messed up at the same time. He takes and He takes and He takes.......
@Superman1753 sorry for your loss, but im curious why you mentioned he was a police officer. its just kind of ironic because police officers take away peoples lives whether its killing them by the gun ( i've lost a bother to police brutality and i best friend) or putting them away in jail. again, im sorry for your loss, but i was wondering why you mentioned that he was a police officer
@stillnotlovinnpolice I mentioned it because that's what he was. A very honorable one at that. I'd be disgracing his memory if I didn't mention it. He was a great man and loved what he did and was very respectable among his friends and co-workers. I know that there are bad police officers out there, the ones who act out irrationally and engage in unneccesary brutality in some cases (I'm very very sorry 4 your loss btw) but not all of them are that way. Don't blend the good cops with the bad.
This is why I love Sufjan. There is so much beauty despite the pain and sadness. It opens a window and shows human weakness. It speaks of how limited we are and of what little our minds are capable of understanding about life and death and heaven. There is so much to be said about an artist who can tell a story in this way.
im performing this song tonight at a local open stage event & i came here to listen to it since i actually havent heard the original version in a while. now that i do hear it, i have no idea how i'm gonna keep it together up on stage, this is too damned much :[
I like how this song is not another sad song about death. It's honest. Its sadness, but its beautiful too. Memories and happiness, and nostalgia. A beautiful tragedy.
Every time you listen to a great new song you think it may be your favorite song ever. The truth is that no matter what I hear, whenever I listen to this one, my heart reminds me that this is the one.
Copyright issues, the people who one the rights to Superman did not give permission for the image to appear on the album therefore all CDS had to be covered with the balloons.

I am a massive iron and wine fan. I love his new stuff but it doesn't have the sound that I originally got into, this does. Excellent

@samwisemcganji Sufjan is not a part of Iron and WIne. You're confusing him with Sam Beam. Both are great though!
