  • where is iowa is that

    des moines?

i fly every weekend on saylorville lake ..right on middle lol

  • This was taken at the Newton SkyKing's flying site in Newton. You and I are one of the "rare" ones who like to fly on snow.

  • The fellow who owns the LT 40 made them out of some scrap aluminum gutter material.

  • Did you make the snow skis for the LT-40 or were you able to buy them?

  • Maybe so but we fly nitro and gas motors throughout the snow season with nary a single engine problem except they sometimes do not like to start in the cold so we "persuade" them with a 24 volt Sullivan starter.

  • Nope, worst case all that happens is that the prop is stopped by the snow.

  • Not really: Pretty nasty things can happen when the hot engine touches the cold snow. You should try to avoid this, else the engines body can crack by the temperature shock!

  • Isn't a prop strike a real danger when landing in soft snow?

  • hmm, makes me thinks about gettin aplane instead of another rc car

  • Go for it ! Snow flying is great !

  • you should! its lots of good addiction and fun : )

  • youre a year late. im into destroying rc cars these days, screw planes and helis i say. boat r rly fun too

  • I know! Lets' fly a white plane in a snowstorm! Great vid.

  • Yea I just bought my first R/c plane, a lil .40 size trainer, but we've been getting snow everytime I want to head out and try her..lol

  • I love the shot of the takeoff at approx. 1:28.

  • Sound like fun, Just be safe out there

  • Just richen up the carburator a little and away she goes....we are all going snow flying on Sunday so look for another snow flying video....we are getting a snowstorm on Sunday and plan to fly in it too !

  • Yea it looks like loads of fun, Do you have to make any adjustments to the carburator for fuel air mixture? (cooler air = more dense= more oxygen)

  • Jeepman, flying in the snow is a great way to pass the winter by....we have several guys that fly all year round. Touch and goes in the right kind of snow are fun to do and watch.

  • Nice work, looks like an Alaskan bush plane. I Like the Ski's I have a Hangar 9 Cub thats been on the work bench for 2 years now, this has inspired me to complete within the year (budget permitting) and get it on some pontoons. 5 stars.

  • Very nice, makes me want to look into a new hobby...

  • sorry for the 1 month later reply. but go for it! I am! :D

  • Nice movie. I think slowing down the speed of the film can often makes this R/C planes look better. Brave of you guys to fly in the snow storm like that.

  • It actually started to snow when we were on our way to the club. Fortunately, our clubhouse has heat, TV, a few couches, a refrigerator, and microwave so we're able to go in and warm up between flights.
