@KomicTurtle If you enjoy an air combat game with tailing maneuvers in lieu of homing missiles, then you'll like it. Personally, it's one of my favourites, and the final boss battle is better than the rest of the game (which is good already). :)

I just found the movie pretty much a waste of time. I loved the drawings and the animations were amazing, but the plot didn't make any sense to me.

@Loleifos The plot is actually quite good once you figure out what it was all about. In fact if you do figure what it was all about you feel like rewatching so you can pick up the stuff you missed while watching for the first time.

I find it funny how phrase "make sense" can mean more than one thing, like: "I don't understand it" or "its illogical". So I wonder what did you have in mind when using it here.

Such an underrated game. Interestingly enough I just saw an article in an aviation magazine about aerospace engineer Kelly Johnson (designed SR-71, P-38, and more) and he had a lot of drawings of crafts that look very similar to the ones in this game! One looked uncannily like a Senryu (though it was more of a fighter)

@falcord The game isn't quite as dumb as you might think, even though it's not instantly obvious to anyone who hasn't seen the movie. it turns out that you, the player, are the pilot who will become the Teacher, the unwinnable faceless enemy pilot from the movie. It associates the Kildren, the movie's protagonists, with the impersonal repetitive video game mooks. Basically, it's a pretty brilliant perspective shift to the whole mess.

This game is only on Wii. This game produced Namco Bandai, so this game of course is not munch realistic. But is very good graphic and gameplay, i really like japenese games ^^

Gameplay looks just as good as I'd expect from Project Aces, but I'm not impressed with the visuals, especially with the lack of proper particle effects from the explosions. I guess this can be forgiven considering the platform. I hope they come out with a PS3/360 version.

after watching this, i guess they did a pretty good job on the english voice acting.

the only voice i found annoying was the girl's. orishima i believe. she has the same voice actor as colete from TOS.

Its a great game. I had a problem with the wiimote and nunchuck but it plays very well with the classic controller or gamcube controller. If you really wanna see how much this game could really shine then check my youtube page. I isoed my game and played it on my PC with the dolphin emulator. Looks and plays so much like ace combat with a ps2 controller on my pc and can have 8x antialising.

It doesn't say it flat out, but you ARE the teacher. You hear the enemy pilots referring to you as the Black Cat, which is aka Teacher in the movie

You are the teacher. Its hinted at first by you being in Cougar Squadron with a black cougar emblem. Your callsigns are Lynx and Cheetah and by the end the enemy calls you the "Black Cat". And the closing line is "Please accept my regards...Teacher"

It's a good game IMO.

Not an very long one, but that aside, the music used is excellent, and believe me, you'll want to go back and S-Rank missions to unlock

all of the Aircraft/Parts/Upgrades.

What makes the Wii special is its unique control options. But the most realistic flight control option is the joystick which the computer supports better than the Wii. And the computer has better graphical abilities. There is no point of buying a Wii to play this game, unless you yet don't have a master gaming system and your computer will cost a lot to become the one. Then you may choose whatever system according to your requirements.

I really hope that this comes on other platforms, since I don't have a wii (it almost seems worth getting the wii for this though, what with the stick and throttle simulation!).

It'll be really fun to play this game without relying on missiles like in the other Ace Combat games. Project Aces: just can't do you wrong.

The Wii's library has really expanded since I sold my other Wii in early 2008.

It's easy enough to do and if you get the app priiloader you'll be 100% brick free. You can also block those pesky updates that don't really do anything with priiloader too, both disc and online updates. Did you update to 4.3? It might be a little harder but you can still do it.

I unlocked my Wii and am playing Xenoblade, I hate the fact that the game only runs in 16:9 though. Even with component cables the Wii looks awful on LED HDTVs. I play on my SDTV despite Xenoblade.

I have a PAL Wii and it is version 4:3. I enjoy surfing the internet on my Wii. If I do install Priiloader can I still use the Internet channel and is it easy to uninstall?

Yeah, you can still use the internet. Just use Priiloader hacks to block online and disc updates and there are no worries of your system bricking. You can unistall priiloader, but I can't see why you would want to. It's just a little application that boots before the system menu does. You hold down the reset button and press the power to access it. Since you have a 4.3 your installation is going to be a little different from mine, but I'll send you the link with all the info.

Goddammit i wanna play this. Gotta wait til december for it to come to america. The controls are gonna make it fun as hell. Instead of having half assed wiimote controls you use the nunchuk like a flight stick and you use the wiimote like a throttle lever so itll actually feel similar to how they controlled the planes in the movie.
