I had an idea of what rooting was but you made this more understandable. Thanks a lot for explaining this. I see more detail on what is being done and im ready to get my HTC thunderbolt rooted.
@halfcab123... I did the last update that was pushed to our phones back in Oct I think which fixed the buggs from android 2.3.4 that verizon put a stop to when it first came out. The Software number was 2.11.605.5. Hopefully I can still do it?
Got my Thunderbolt rooted... would never have been able to figure it out by myself, and I'm fairly good with this kind of stuff... but the Thunderbolt is a PITA. I would recommend Chris... fair, on top of things, quick, and gets back to you quickly via email. The remote session is 100% safe...no funny business.
Great vid, I just got an atrix 4g and i want to get some system emulators on it like snes and some others. Do I need to root it to be able to install emulators?
@keyey33Tee nope, rooting does not give you apps. And neither does jailbreaking by themselves. Now, in jailbreaking applications such as red snow, snowbreeze, etc., you have the option to install cydia, but once again, jailbreaking and rooting by themselves do nothing but give you full access to your phones. Thats it.

@jessedogg There is currently no official firmware on the thunderbolt that can't be rooted. So if you have a thunderbolt yes it can still be done.

@y2jfanlol he's a good guy, means well. android is open source, every custom rom was built on android. Same concept ;)
