hi from Japan. great work Julian! this film is fantastic. I did not know that Mr. John Kirwani struggled with depression before. I am a big fan of rugby so am a little sad that Mr. John Kirwan left the head coach of national japanese rugby team.
Great insight into what depression really is! the book will give people out there who are going through a truly horrific time the hope they need to get better:) great job
Something we can all take hope from is how quickly we are changing, if within 1 generation we can see attitudes change so quickly, think what our children and grandchildren will see! great story
I played in the same era as JK. As a prop I would have laughed at the idea of a winger having depression. They got the tries & the girls after the game. I thought (wrongly) I just worked for the ball thanklessly. Depression was very real for me though. It stuffed my confidence, progress in the game and relationships badly. I pissed off coaches who couldn't work out why i was combative and alienated team mates. It was terrible. Its much better now. Good on you JK for bringing this out.
I found out my dad had suffered from depression for many years. toughen up is what he was told so he kept it to himself. Hes this big strong man you know, pat on the back and he’ll be right. But 2 years ago he finally reached out for help and hes at the end of the tunnel! I think if he had watched this film earlier he would have realised it was OK to ask for help. So hopefully it will help so many people!

JK is bigger off the pitch than he ever was on the pitch - and that speaks volumes about him.

Wow, You did an amazing job. The way you are playing with images to describe the topic without naming the topic is really professional!
