You either have a broken oil pump(at least starting to break) or you car is leaking oil or burning it hope you didnt get screwed on buying iy best of luck
No, still runs like a champ. This video is now three years old. The pressure is in safe operating range as many people have commenting below.
No it doesn't have 181k miles, it had 130k on it at the time of the vid and still has under 138k as of right now which is not high mileage for a 13 year old car.
As far as saying I look like a punk, the picture was taken in High School in 2006. I bought the car and paid for it by myself. The vid was just a winter project 3 years ago.
@adamsoldier No if you use regular oil on a gas engine you should change it every 3000 but if you use royal purple you can change it every 5000. You can even run it up to 10,000 or more is some cases. Remember its man made
There is a specific royal purple for racing and a regular royal purple is for street use, musch higher zinc content for a rediculous protection threshold.
nah and it depends on tuning too ive seen some stock 89 GTAs outbeat 98s and 02s. Also depends on the driver. But yeah Bandit is right, 89 was originally (idk about 87 tho). In my opinion, they still are.
was there that much of a difference in sound after the headers? ( its hard to tell from just watching videos ) got a flowmaster system and cant decide on getting headers, or just a different cat back.
that is exactly my problem! i dont know what to get! i have flowmaster. urs 80 series or 40? i have 80 and was wondering how much louder 40 seriers would be?
yeha i thought about the loudmouth too! but it has sooooooo much raspy sound when u let of the gas. it almost sounds cheap(cuz no back pressure) but still idk if i like it
i know what you mean. well i would definately go bassani if it wasnt soo damn expensive because it sounds awesome on these cars. its one of the only systems that keep true dual all the way back. (sort of) but i can only find one clip of it on here.
running heavier weight oil doesn't help. just because it raises pressure it doesn't increase lubrication. run the specified thickness of oil. that pressure your gauge is reading is plenty
well our oil pressure gauges are basically just a dumby gauge anyway... you might want to get someone to plug into your PCM and check out the actual reading incase its doing some serious damage...
well its been that pressue for over two years now. I think if it would be causing very much damage, it would not have lasted this long. I have had several mechanics look at it and have seen no real problems. It has higher miles so everything on the car isnt going to perfect.
@ELHUTCH Yeah my '96 T/A shows the same oil pressure on it as yours is showing. Having recently purchased my car, I was concerned about it at first. So I did a little research and learned that GM calls for at least 10 pounds of pressure for each 1000 rpm, so according to that it should still be good.

what better short tubes or long tubes for more power on ls1?
goyogarcia08 2 years ago
Long tube headers will give you more power.
ELHUTCH 2 years ago
@goyogarcia08
Longtubes for torque, Shorties for high RPM power.
Longtubes would be better IMO
