I think the Deaf can focus better than the hearing, and they do seem to be a lot cooler than those of us who have to put up with all the clutter of human noise. The deaf communicate with purpose. I have a friend that could communicate with anyone anywhere and he is very deaf. His speech was poor when I met him but now he sounds like a hearing person sounds.

I know deaf people that talk and it never sounds like that. And I agree, she reacts to the other voices without looking so either she is a voice-control and lip-reading miracle or she is hard of hearing and not deaf. My respect to every deaf person who learned to talk, I am learning how to sign and what you did must be even so much harder.
