But if you're good enough, you can make the bowlers really pissed off, by scoring heaps of runs.
Out first ball, is called a Duck.
You're out if, the ball hits the wickets, or, you're caught on the full off the bat, or, 'Leg Before Wicket', which is sort of like a strike in Baseball. (The umpire makes this decision.)
what happens in the batter blocks the ball with his body? Either on purpose or accidentally, like if it pegs him in the leg or sometime cuz they stand right infront of the wickets.
@s1lenus91o Not really, you dont try to slog the ball as hard as you can every time in cricket, sometimes you only try to hit the ball a few metres in a gap to score maby just 1 run.
currently the US is an associate member of the ICC and as such they have to qualify for every competition normally through a round robin tournament with other associate countries (Afghanistan, Ireland, The Netherlands, Germany to name a few countries)
Arrrghhh. As usual, this is from the viewpoint of players and/or fans. It's still missing all kinds of info. What are the wickets, what are the pieces on top of the wickets, how do batters score runs, do the batters work in tandem, or alternatively? Are there "strikes, balls, outs", and how many in an "inning" How do the fielders actually GET the batter out?
This video leaves about 50% of the game in mystery.
@rockyPants4000 i'll break down ur questions for you bro if u havn't researched it yet. the wicket= the three pieces of wood stuck in the ground on both sides along with the two small pieces or wood that lay on top of them. the three pieces stuck into the ground are called "stumps", the 2 pieces on the top are called "bails"
scoring runs: at the edge of the field there is usually a rope or some type of line indicating where the boundary is.if the batsman hits the ball and it makes its way to
@rockyPants4000 the boundary, that's 4 runs, the umpire will indicate by making a movement with one hand similar to wiping a table. if the ball goes directly over the boundary, without bouncing, that's 6 runs. the umpire will indicate by sticking both hands in the air similar to the symbol of a field goal in american football. once the ball is bowled, the batsman can hit the ball and run, from his side to the next, making sure he makes it safely before the opposing team is able to return
@rockyPants4000 safely to the other side of the wicket without the fielder hitting it with the ball. every time this is done, that's one run. they alternate between the two wickets.
Strikes: there are none
Balls: Each bowler bowls 6 balls at a time, this is called an "over". u'll learn all that stuff from constantly watching. not important really
Outs: Generally happen when the bowler successfully hits the stumps with the ball while bowling, or the batsman gets caught....
No, the ball doesn't have to bounce, but if it is pitched too high, it's called a no-ball. The batter can then take a wild swing at it, but cannot be given out if caught. This is to keep the bowler disciplined. Hope that helps.
yeah like the guy said, it doesn't have to bounce. if it doesn't bounce its called a "full toss" and is generally easy to hit as a batsmen so bowlers try to get it to bounce anyway. if the ball is a full toss that arrives to the bowlers above the waist then that is considered a dangerous deliver and called a "no-ball" (1 extra run given to the total score and the batsmen can't get out on that ball unless he is "stumped" or "run-out") the bowler then has to ball another ball.

Wait, how do you score though? They kind missed that point :S
RTardEntertainment 2 years ago
By running between the wickets from end to end, in conjunction with the other batter (partner).
the batters stay in as long as they can, until given out by, being caught on the full, or the wickets are knocked over if you're out of your ground.
it's embarrassing for a batter to be given out without scoring.
townsvillefield 2 years ago
Also.... if the batter hits the ball over the fence/boundary marker, off the bat, he gets 6 runs,(without having to actually run).
And, he gets 4 runs if it hits the fence.
Batters love to get 100 runs, which is hard to do, & takes patience, fitness, & concentration.

MrHahaJay1:
Good question!
If the ball is deemd to have gone on to hit the wickets, then he will be out.
The wickets/stumps are akin to baseball's strike zone.
He must protect the stumps with his bat only.

i'm from america, and i saw the video about the "underarm incident". can someone explain what happened there and why it was so "disgraceful"?
wockawocka219 3 years ago
Because, New Zealand could have potentially tied the game, by hitting the ball over the fence, giving them the needed six runs.
It would be impossible to do so by bowling the ball along the ground like that.
It robbed New Zealand of any chance.
It was a poor decision by Australia to do so.
"It's Just Not Cricket"
I'm an Aussie & think it was pretty weak.
townsvillefield 3 years ago
is it against the rules to do that?
wockawocka219 3 years ago
It is now.
At the time it happened, they exploited the fact that it wasn't written in the rule book.
I think they use to bowl underarm a couple of hundred years ago.
