  • So, how is Chateau-Chinon going?

  • salute~~ very difficult. I am trying to make triangles twist :) I still can make only one triangle.

  • I think this is an epic video! I just love the way your tessellations end up in the end! So precise! Happy folding! ;)

  • CAN YOU PLEASE DO A VIDEO FOR SPREAD HEXAGONS sorry for caps i need your attention!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can you please make a tutorial on the five and four please... i really liked to try it

    TYVM

  • Now I know why you love tesselations so much! Also, do you think you could make a video on the origami five and four? I hope I don't sound demanding. Thanks!

  • what do you think is the easiest for children to make?

  • @SuperKrissy1999 that has something to say how long you have been folding

  • were can you get that transparent paper

  • its not called tessellation ....its called a fractal :)

  • you often said ÄHM

  • wow, sorry for my english but your origami its really excellent

  • have u tried the origami magic ball? im only 11 and i completed it , its pretty simple if your folds are clean and neat and if you be patient , you should try it

  • the star puff is kind of like bubble wrap!:D

  • Awsome voice.. love the accent ;)

  • i saw a few videos of this type of origami it takes hours to make how much did u needed to make Triangle Gird ?

  • O.O

  • I love your tutorials! I made the clover folding tesselation(11 stages) It took me an hour just to do the grid. The result was great though. :)

  • it actually looks like exploded chocolate cuz of the squares!

  • awsom

  • 2:59

    WTF a weird noise

  • Where do you get your paper? I'm not very good at tessellations, so every time I try the paper ends up tearing. :)

  • The stacked triangles are really easy to do. 1 flap requires 2 sinked triangles and a triangle requires 6 sinked triangles. The real problem is the paper size... A 32 grid would be kind of a nightmare . So use a 24 one!

  • can you make a tutoriol for stacked tryangles

  • After watching your video, I just spent several hours working on the very first project of that book, five-and-four. It is just hard to fold them perfectly.

  • Freckles!

  • @mobradovic00 Lots! :)

  • Here is a really stupid question, hope you don't mind. What exactly are tessellations?

  • @AbRas644 0:16 she says what tessellations are

  • @turquoisemelon Are you rude, immature, or both?

  • @AdamsSara He is gay.

  • @AdamsSara his just a rude ass hole

  • @turquoisemelon you are the biggest dick ever she makes very good origami videos and you post this shit as a comment

  • @turquoisemelon your a dick face she makes good videos so shut the fuck up

  • @turquoisemelon she is a origami master.

  • @turquoisemelon dude wtf

  • @turquoisemelon Are you a troller, troller, troller or all of the above?

  • in the beggining I say tessellations are boring now I say I want more!

  • @AdamsSara make a tutorial of the Stacked Triangles plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • do you have a life?

  • I almost fell asleep watching this.

  • I hate you (not really). The spread hexagons model makes me want to eay oranges, and its the middle of winter

  • how many divisions have the five and four?

  • @MrEllinas21 It's folded on a square grid with 32 divisions.

  • Sara,it's me again. No i haven't tried. I've tried to make it (your comment help me),but i can't.I'm having a problem with the making of the fourth stage. Will you send me a tutorial how to make it with four stages?

  • @dgeorgieva I do want to make a video on how to make more stages, but I'm not sure when yet.

  • If I have a 32 division triangle grid, could I make a triangle twist that would be the same size as on a 16 division grid.

  • @MrBloxs Sure, you'll just have to use larger paper. :)

  • you should sell your origomi tesseliations I think they are absolutely amazing, a fair price would be $10 for your transparent paper

  • @jamgirlrock People may not realize that many tessellations take hours and hours to fold, so such prices would result in a ridiculous hourly wage. In general, though, I don't sell origami models. I do my videos, and have a normal full-time job.

  • @AdamsSara how about u sell those that u dont really like very much? they wont be junk or wasted in some drawer and they become money~

  • how can i make a 4 stage or more clover fold i can do the 3 but i want to make more please help

  • @julianrafael99 I'll probably make a video on this, because many have asked that question. I'm not sure when that will be, though.

  • nice voice

  • i make a clover folding with six states

  • exploded cheese.... ur boyfriend is right! but now im hungry... :S

  • does the paper your using come with the book? [the clear kind]

  • MANGO <3

  • pedalskie

  • 04:04 is cool

  • I dont like tessellations....

    They are so hard....

  • i love your accent! nvm no i dont

  • i love your accent!

  • lovely! I'll try some in fabric, see if i can make a dress ;)

  • Which size of paper did you use for the origami waterbomb ?

  • @sebi20202 A 19.5cm square.

  • Magnificent

  • i can't make the clover folding with 6 stages

  • @dgeorgieva Have you tried folding one with 3 stages? And then 4 stages?

  • what grid was that open back hexagon tesselation put on?

  • @musicmixer112 A 32 division grid.

  • @AdamsSara should've figured that.

  • @AdamsSara what type of paper you use ?

  • The water bomb tessellation in your video is divided by sixteenths, right?

So the one in the tutorial is divided by eighths, just to prepare us.

  • @MrKoolTrix Yes, the video explains the concept. It should be easy to extend it to higher divisions after that.

  • love love! Thanks for the book suggestion to boot, really look forward to getting my copy.

  • @JustJinxed Yes, it's a great book, probably one of my top 3 favorites right now.

  • awesome

  • amazing :O where did you get that clear paper from?

  • @kayzap I actually bought it at a convention I attended in 2007. You can find this in many arts and crafts stores, too. Look for glassine or pergamyn.

  • @AdamsSara thank you so much :D! i made a bunch of star puffs this morning :) and i found the book for download lol ill still buy it when i get the chance! X)

  • @AdamsSara do you think youcan make video demostrarions for the other models? or at least 3 more? casue i found the book but following written instrustions are harder than i though

  • @kayzap I do have vague plans to show more tessellations. Three more from this book would be a lot, though.

  • @AdamsSara i got some Vellum paper an dits kinda thick but it worked XD its liek seethrough but cloudy

  • @kayzap So it doesn't break when folding? Then it should be really nice for tessellations!

  • @AdamsSara it is really nice for tesselations but the folds leave a white line XD and sometimes its a lil hard 2 do precreasing for teh triangle grid :( but it works :)

  • You make a video just to link us to other videos? And i thought i was the asshole.

  • @MurderousPandas Actually, no, this is a video showing models. I just decided to link to a couple of videos I have made that will help you complete some of the projects if you are so inclined.

  • @AdamsSara I'm very inclined, in matter of fact, i'm so inclined i don't even know what it means right now, that's how inclined i am.

  • @AdamsSara just ignore him, he is being an ass. he doesn't appreciate what you do and why. You help others, but him and his apparently 'inclined' self need to get lost and go somewhere where the sun doesn't shine. You are absolutely great, and i think you are amazing. btw: Again, i love your voice!

  • @racerreiss Hehe, thanks. :)

  • @AdamsSara lol its ok, you have a point and should stop nonsense, sorry i didn't get back to you though, i literally just arrived home from my 2 week trip in mexico. i live in london btw, you?

  • @racerreiss Germany.

  • @AdamsSara lol you have told me that about 10 times and yet i still forget.

  • @MurderousPandas shut up and stop being a 12 year old, go mow some lawns, or start trying to do the designs she has who care what links she's included. She she seem to be very good at what she does

  • @flux1969 Actually, you are the 12 year old for being the one jumping into conversation. Every adult knows not to go into conversation unless they are invited.

  • where do u get the translucent paper?

  • @SavagetheMaker I usually buy it in local shops. Try searching for glassine or pergamyn. You can also use baking paper or bread wrap.

  • wow i hve to get tht book. u said it was on amazon???

  • @sarahkayekaye Links to the product page for Amazon and Origami-Shop are in the video description.

  • lol the brown one looks like dairy milk yum

  • Beautiful, Adams Sara Beautiful!!!

  • why buy the cow when the milk is free?

  • i know how to do the brick wall tessellation

  • 100% kommst aus deutschland oder österreich wie ralf konrad sagst nicht wie eine aus england oder so^^

  • @emory444 Ich bin Deutsche.

  • @AdamsSara hört man :))

  • that is very impressive Evan tho she is a women she is still good

  • did you consider doing the turtle of either kamiya satoshi or robert lang?

because that has the same tesselaition work described in that book you mentioned

  • you have a boyfriend..........well i guess everyone has someone ;)

  • Hi Sarah! I'm really intrested in the 17th project as you called it (the second last one you showed here), could you detail it a bit? Nice work, btw!

  • @Gabry4fun Hm, detail it... I'll try. The "stacked triangles" model is folded from a hexagon. You start off with a triangle grid. Each of the corners of the final triangles (of the "stacked triangles" model) is then formed by making a rabbit ear triangle sink. And then... you're done. ;)

I plan to make a video on rabbit ear triangle sinks sometime soonish.

  • @AdamsSara hey sara thanks i already buy the book thank you so much...

  • how do you make more levels on clover folding?

  • I explain this a bit in the video. Some more details are provided on happyfolding(dot)com/gallery-fujimoto-7_stage_clover_folding

  • thank you so much.

  • That clover folding is awesome.

  • Actually, I folded a 10-level version yesterday. [The one in the video has 7 levels.]

  • Where do you get that paper?

  • You mean the translucent paper? I bought it at a convention once. You can find it sold as "kite paper", glassine or pergamyn. The quality of the paper varies, though. Be sure to check that it does not break when folding back and forth two or three times - else it won't be any good for tessellations.

  • plz can u tell me were i can learn how to make the "open back hexagon twist" by eric gjerde plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • 3:35 kinda looks like garbage, it don't look nice :o

  • you say you're Deutsche but, do i hear a bit of irish accent while you're speaking british english? Anyway, with your intellect and affinity for abstract art, i find you are quite an attractive woman. Just a compliment of course, and a thank you for these tesselation tutorials. maybe one day i'll be reading a book of yours.

  • @AcesEights762 cant hear an irish brogue myself. Definitly German in her accent.

  • wenn du aus Deutschland kommst,.... wieso schreib ich dann in englisch,...xDD ok,.... deshalb die gute aussprache von Ralf Konrad!^^

  • where are you from?

  • Germany.

  • @AdamsSara so... you know what "ich liebe es" means?

  • "I'm loving it".

  • @AdamsSara hi there could you show the basket weve like in the face mask tessellations?

  • @seonidh Hm, you mean the amazing stuff Joel Cooper makes? I fear the tessellation masks he makes are insanely hard to fold, and I don't know how he does it. I might be able to do a video on a basic basket weave tessellation some time in the future, if that's what you're looking for.

  • @AdamsSara hi sara thanks for replying. Yes I was wondering what fold he did and I think it was called the open basket wieve. Joes stuff are amazing and I have no idea how he does it, let alone thought it all up. If you could do a video I'd be greatful. I really like your videos, greetings form Scotland.

  • What type of paper did you use for "Waterbomb?" I mean, was it thick or thin?

  • I used quite heavy, stiff paper for that model. I think it was around 120gsm.

  • omg was für ein Akzent das kann man ja gar nicht mit anhörn -.-

    *ohren bluten*

  • i love your tesselations sara, i have a question about your water bomb base tesselation, i watched the video and tried out the precreasing as youdid yourself, but after the first line of bases i got stuck because there wasnt to much clarity of what happened and how many from the edge do you move off from.

could you post another vid/ show somehow the crease pattern so i can get this because i luv this kind of origamiand i dont want to stop trying it :P

  • I think the video is relatively clear on where to put the creases. Please try watching it again. If that doesn't help, please leave a comment on that video, rather than this one. Then others might profit from any answers I give, too. :)

  • i like ur accent

  • hi wikipedia does not provide good detail on tessellations' utility. can u please type few lines on it. also tell me can v do it using clothes..no "amazon the book" answer please.

  • HI~

thanks for all ur vids teaching origami

i am new to tessellations thg

i wonder what kind of material u used to fold

they look like plastic or sth

i tried to use A4 white printing paper

but it's a bit too thick to fold for many layers

i also used some kind of cello paper

it's v. beautiful when letting light getting through

tho if i folded too hard then it broke easily

  • Anything plasticy is a pain to fold with, and cellophane must be on the top of the list of that. Most of the models shown in this video were folded with glassine / pergamyn. It's true that you have to be careful to get a quality that doesn't break after a couple of times creasing back and forth, so it's good to get a test sheet and once you're happy with the quality get a batch. Hope this helps.

  • OMG YOU HAVE A BOYFRINED

  • Does that come as such a big surprise to you? ;)

  • no not really i was just kinda being sarcastic! btw I love ur origami! $_$

  • The rhombic flower model is so beautiful! But I have no idea on how to do a rhombic twist...Can you tell me where to find instructions or make a video about it?

  • Wow these are really fascinating! I've never even heard of this style of origami. I'll check some of your videos out, they look really intricate!

  • wow... you know, i used to think tessellations were boring stuff, but this really changed my mind - these are absolutely amazing! :D Thanks a ton, Sara, for teaching some of them and drawing our attention to this special field. i think i'm totally getting that book now ;-p

  • hey sara can u make a vid on how to make the magic ball????????????

  • This is wonderful!

    Sara, please marry me.

  • Can you make a video on the open back hexagon twist next?

  • wo crazy

  • Most of your videos get stuck in the middle???

  • I cannot influence how quickly YouTube videos load on your computer, I fear. It's not a problem with my videos, because usually they load quickly for me. I know that sometimes videos load very slowly, and it works better a couple of hours later, but that holds for all YouTube videos. I guess sometimes the YouTube servers are a bit overloaded.

  • exploded cheese?

  • Thank you a lot. Your videos have great value.

  • Comment removed

  • hi Sara

is there a way that you can make a video teaching us the star puff?'

  • can you show how to make star puff

  • how do you cut a hrxagon out of paper

  • Check happyfolding (dot) com/term-hexagon for directions. However, I prefer preparing a stencil and then using that. Like that you can avoid creases on the paper and you get an precise result every time (as long as you make a good stencil).

  • Just bought the book and folded 'five and four' successfully! Really fantastic book! Thanks for the upload!

  • fractals ;o

  • hey adams sara

is there a way that you can get permission and teach us how to fold the water bomb tesselation?

  • Actually, I already have permission. :) I'll see how it goes, I first wanted to make a couple of other videos.

  • to sara

wow thats great. hope to see that video coming!

  • lol exploaded cheese!!!

  • i like the star puff it looks like bubble wrap!!

  • Absolutely love it.

  • i like the waterbomb but its not the coolest

  • very cool the tassellation :D

  • you know all is very very good. But I really like your voice, you have a very nice voice, the sound is beauttiful. see you.

  • yes i like to draw lines very lightly with pencil sometimes, that's a good tip for us tesselation noobs. first i had an origami animal phase, then i had a modular thing, now i'm on to tesselations...what's next? origamic architecture. hey adamssara have you ever tried it?

  • Origamic architecture? No, haven't tried. But it sounds like it could go towards kirigami or modular origami, both of which I'm not really into.

  • where do u get transparent paper?

  • Try art and crafts stores. Look for "glassine" or "pergamyn" or "kite paper".

  • okay!!! thanks :D

  • lol

"i went crazy and did 24"

  • Ah, not 24 divisions, but 64 divisions. It was a long night...

  • Impressive!!

  • what paper is best suited for tesselations?

  • For transparent paper, try "glassine" / "pergamyn" /"kite paper". Else just go for a paper that holds creases very well. "Elephant hide" falls under that category, for example. Eric Gjerde's book also has a section on paper choice.
