the biggest lie of this video is not in the facts...it's that at the top, it says, "beijing" and the guy coming on screen has a southern accent. wtf? and there few institutes of higher education in china with portraits of mao in the lecture halls...
This ad blew me away. Borrowing money to create jobs is bogus and short lived. Additionally, we don't manufacture much in this country any more. Our continued purchasing of cheap goods from abroad is transferring what's left of our wealth after it got sucked up by the oil rich countries. Buying US made products allows US employees to pay taxes on their income and spend their money in our country. Ultimately, buying goods from overseas may not prove to be the bargain you thought.
For an accurate understanding of where our debt really comes from - google search for "Chart of the day" and "deficit" to see the informative graph from Business Insider
This commercial is a disgustingly dishonest fear-mongering designed to literally scare people into voting for the GOP. The vast majority of US debt is held by US banks, pensions, and Social Security Trust Fund. Only 3 of a total 14 trillion dollars debt are held by foreign governments. Viewer BEWARE : this shiny piece of propaganda is trying to scare you into stupidity!
I am sure that George Bush Tony Blair Anres Fogh have committed crimes against humanity in connection with the war in Iraq 100.000 civilian dead and their lies about WMD weapon, the question is for the International Criminal Court (ICC) mar kjartansson 24t blog Mingler.dk
The bottom line is that we must build china or they will start ww III. Everyday millions of their people are dying of starvation. When rats get hungry and there is no food around to eat then rats go outside their area to look for food. If we don't help China the Chinese will go out and find food by evading countries that have food.
This is not an attack at the new health care program...this fact is to open the eyes of Americans that we owe China more money, then our current economic worth.... PEOPLE OPEN YOUR EYES! They are laughing at us!
This is not an attack at the new health care program...this fact is to open the eyes of Americans that we owe China more money, then our current economic worth.... PEOPLE OPEN YOUR EYES! They are laughing at us!
this is the most ridiculous xenophobic propaganda i have ever seen on t.v. used to make Americans fear the big bad "obama-care", and attempt to criticize the stimulus package. point is the stimulus package created jobs and pulled us out of a near depression, and universal health care is not a ridiculous waste of tax dollars that will bankrupt us. By not offering tax incentives to outsourcing companies(brings up GDP also) and eliminating huge tax breaks to the top 1% we'll be back on track.
@Bexly It's not over yet, but I fear we only have a narrow window left to stop the tide, and turn this mess around. We have to take back the Senate and the Presidency in 2012, stop any further erosions beginning in 2010, and un-do everything the communist-in-charge has implemented, including executive orders and regulations he's done behind closed doors. We need to undo all the PC bullshit that's been legislated over the last 40 years. Put man back on top of the heap. Spotted owls & smelts last.
@fab4bear you mean the mess that was caused after the huge deficit incurred by the majority republican congress, and republican president? i don't know if you know this but job loss began before Obama entered the white house, also we were loaned money from China when Bush was in office to cover the 1.4 trillion dollar deficit..But i would also like to point out that almost every president we have had for the past century has implemented socialist policies, and social democracy is not communism.
@VinceFSU07 The Congress was taken over in 2006, so don't blame Bush for the Democrats' spending. You conveniently want to ignore that FACT. Furthermore, Bush tried unsuccessfully to rein in the gorging of Fanny and Freddy, but your Congressman, Barney Frank, repeatedly said they were both "Fine" and he wanted to "roll the dice" some more. On top of that, Bush left a $485 Billion dollar deficit which obama promptly QUADRUPLED. Yes, Bush did some bad things, but your obama has made it worse.
@fab4bear here are a couple of facts for you; stimulus package created 3.3 million jobs, reduced our 10% unemployment rate by 2% and raised our GDP by 4.5%. i don't know your knowledge of economics but it isn't difficult to see that as proof of success of the stimulus measure. (data was from a bi-partisan congressional committee.) it was meant to curve the rise in unemployment and our dwindling GDP by that measure it was a success. numbers don't lie..
@VinceFSU07 Poppycock! First of all, NOBODY can PROVE how many jobs were "created" but I can tell you that the vast majority were temporary road construction, emphasis on temporary and the so-called census jobs, also temporary. And we learned of the various methods of Washington to inflate the counts. And the unemployment is over 12% when you factor in the people who gave up looking.
@VinceFSU07 really what kind of jobs were created and what was produced out of that GDP?? you really have no idea how those are calculated do you, its a lie.
@VinceFSU07 What you say here is not completely true. Most of these numbers began to rise including the stock market after the election in November and a Republican House was elected. That landslide of a blow should be enough to tell you that people like myself are tired of goverment over spending. Things like PBS and NPR should not get goverment money. We are not in the broadcasting, auto ot home financing business.
@fab4bear also once again, going to have to point out more facts that are misconstrued in your argument. in both the 109th congress (2005-2007); senate 55% republican, house 53% republican. 110th congress (2007-2009); senate 51% republican, house 54%. what democrat majority are you speaking of? Bush Admin. enabling corporate scandal wrap sheet; Enron Scandal, Halliburton Scandal, pushed Fannie & Freddie to increase lending while company was 2 trillion dollars in debt(The Economist 08/2004)
@chris1816 We'll be speaking Mexican Spanish before that if our Congressmen don't grow some balls first and make English the official language. I think it's a great idea to be bi-lingual, but I don't want to be forced to be. We didn't print everything in Italian, German, French or any other language, so why are we coddling the illegal Mexicans? If they don't have to learn English, there's no need to assimilate. VOTE ENGLISH THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE!
It's too late guys, it's over. So me, I am doing whatever I can to hook up and mate with one of them cute Chinese chicks. I'd really like to lay the boots to that hottie on the left at :14. You guys can re-arrange deck chairs on the Titanic. Me? I bow to my new Chinese masters. They're fucking sexy and they got a lotta cash!
if in a country only exist one race , this country will win but if in a country exist a lot races , this country will die 'cause the globalization sucks and the differents races always could fight okk. for that eeuu will dissapear soon.
@ReinaldoChatillon98 For a long time, America has been proud of the fact that we were a "melting pot" of races, creeds and cultures. There was a time when immigrants would come here and assimilate into the "American" culture. Since the era of political correctness, "multi-culturalism" has divided us. It was the plan of the progressives to divide and conquer. Now the jig is up, and we're going to reverse this insanity. We'll become neighbors again.
How does the U.S. government solve high jobless rate except for using the way of quantitative easing? What's more, the ad seems like to encourage Americans to be hostile to Chinese. In other words, the ad is a little xenophobic especially when it comes to the end of "chuckling". At last, who knows that Chinese will still admire Mao Zedong in 2030. Chinese government may be changed in the next decade since I have seen lots of signs which show resentment against Communist Party in Mainland China.
@fab4bear Really?! Fisrt, Bernanke unleashed $15.9 billion in bond sales yesterday! Second, if you want to stop borrowing, how the U.S. government makes its balance sheet with having long term trade deficits and budgetary deficits. In addition, Japan, Korea, Russia, and Taiwan are also America's creditors besides China! Do you want to rise protectionism in the worldwide?
@TedMcHung We need to reduce the size of Government, and I support a 10% salary cut for ALL Federal Governments, and make them start contributing to their medical plans. That's what the private sector would do, and the Federal Government's salaries are way out-of-line with the private sector. Obama said it himself, "everyone needs to have skin in the game." And I'm talking salary cuts from the President down, including Congress & staff. That would be a HUGE savings.
@TedMcHung Thank you. I have not heard this from anyone, it is an idea I am trying to foster. It makes perfect sense to me. While I was in the private sector, I had to go for 7 years without a dime of a raise because of "salary freezes" It seems to me, those whose salaries are being funded from Taxpayers should have to feel the sting also. It might go a long way to remind Congress and Federal Workers whose money they are spending.
We just had elections and nothing is going to change..thanks to QU2. It sad to read here a bunch of XBOX or Play station gamers here typing nonsense. They don't realize that their machines they play games on are made in China. The fact is, China is the worlds largest manufacturing base and the US economy is based on Consuming. The bogus wealth was created by cheap credit that kept the people drunk and spent like drunken sailors (2001-2008), just like their representatives.
@AMUROFOCKCHINHA Be careful - you are talking about your masters!!! IN teh next 10 years America will be deeply in debt to China - we will borrow $14.5 TRILLION from them - to keep Social Security floating - without this money - the entire system will collapse and people will retire with nothing!!! (Payback will take 42 years @ $1 billion per DAY!!!)
Learn to speak Chinese - You'll need to know Chinese when they start asking YOU questions!!! They will be your masters!!!!
1) You cannot speak Chinese - you cannot tell the truth. There are many dialects
2) If China does not buy USA debt - then USA goes bankrupt - they are doing USA a HUGE favor!!!
3) And if you think they are doing it to "show off" - you're an idiot!!!! Nobody would spend $14.5 TRILLION - just to show off - and to show off to who????
4) You are an idiot Goober!!!!!!
5) They can't invade - they do not have the missle technology!!
Democrats, Republicans, Tea partier chumps who run under the Republican banner and still accept big money from big corporations are idiots who destroy this nation. Solution? Get rid of them, and I mean all of them, include the FED.
Really, this ad campaign was labelled as xenophobic by the press of my country (France). That's completely ludicrous. I don't see anything xenophobic towards the Chinese, that is just sheer truth. Those who are harshly criticized here are the Americans who borrow to afford their spending sprees, and not the Chinese who are lending to the Americans.
@fab4bear I also hope that, but we all know it's to late, because it's all the same. Just look who is in charge of the house, senate and of the white house. One word: QE2
@Spritz86 Racist? Perhaps the chinese audience's response to the lectures point "so now they work for us"; *laughter*, implies they are fine with the slavery of american peoples so long as a historical event justifies it. other than that, maybe is the censorship committee trying to silence something reality based so they use a strawman argument?
@Spritz86 The problem is the ad contains blatant lies and half-truths. Most US Debt is domestically owned and this ad promotes an irrational fear of the Chinese taking over America, which is rooted in fear of the "other" (here, another race) - xenophobia The UK is the 3rd largest foreign govt owning US debt - ask yourself this: do you think this ad would have the same effect with a class of British children laughing about how they own America? This is xenophobic, deceptive fear-mongering.Shame
OK, so first off, I totaly support this group, I believe in watchdogs for excessive spending.
Studying economics for years, this is a nearly impossible situation for a few reasons. First of China's GDPP is nothing compared to the US. That is: Gross Domestic product, per person...
Second, china's socialist policies and birth polict (one child per couple) has created a boomer generation that makes ours a droup in a bucket. Finally China relies on the dollar, if it fails, china fails.
OK lets calm down !! I am an American and a Conservative libertarian at that ! and a veteran ! US blaming the Chinese for are economic problems is like someone that eats ate McDonald's 5 times a day blaming Ronald for making them (As the great Ric Flair would say A FAT BOY ! ) the truth is this commercial speaks to me because i don't want the US to ever become beholden to any nation ! NOT China NOT CANADA ! Not the UK or SOUTH AFRICA! LUV OR hate a nation i do not want to become beholden !
@MichaelMike5556 I haven't "blamed" China. I have said the responsibility is laid on the American Congress for allowing this to happen. The Chinese are simply exploiting the situation. We are crazy to have allowed it, and are even more nuts for continuing. Getting in bed with communists is not good for America. I think most Conservatives would agree with that. I think you would agree as well.
how so? the sole purpose of this video is to elicit fear. It's factually incorrect economics-wise, and is blatant demagoguery. I've lived in China, and you wont find many other reasonable informed people as wary of its political establishment and economic potential as I am. That said, I hate this dishonest advertisement. We don't gain anything by becoming stupider. The people behind the ad gain something though. Such a meager pay off for the nightmare china bashing will create.
@crock703 I don't like or support communism. I always thought it was a big mistake to get involved with trade with China, and now they're buying up our debt. This is not going to end well.
Dude, I really don't mean to insult, but you need to read more about what debt between us and China means. This video is misinforming people solely for the narrow interests of corporations who want another long capital gains tax holiday. They could care less about unemployment. Exxon Mobil and insurance companies helps bankroll this group. They just want the health care laws repealed and an EPA that lets them drill offshore, with the least oversight possible. Look what happened.
@crock703 I want the Healthcare law repealed. I want responsible offshore and onshore drilling. We have plenty of oil to become nearly independent, we should be using our resources. obama gave 2 Billion Dollars to Venezuela to Petrobas Oil to drill 5 TIMES DEEPER than the Deepwater Horizon. He's a fucking LIAR when he says he's opposed to deep drilling. The reason? George Soros has invested nearly a Billion $ in Petrobas, you know, his buddy, Dictator Hugo Chávez's Venezuela.
The reason China could do it and we didn't, was because they don't have elections. Their govt doesn't have to worry about the corporations lying to the voting public with fear mongering ads, so that voters are duped and screaming for tax and spending policies that actually make their economic situation worse.
I am NOT advocating a non-democratic govt. Its the reality though, that that the corporations feed us nonsense, and our politicians are too scared to give us the truth.
And our elected leaders are right to be scared -- look what happened tonight. The politicians who voted for policies that were the lesser of two evils, were booted out by voters.. who will not get politicians with even less spine, and who will make the economy languish even longer. All because people/corporations were able to buy slick commercials (and news networks) that lied to us and intentionally scared us, like this one.
They buy our debt because they have to. They manipulate their currency, keeping its value low and stable, so that companies choose to manufacture there (because they know the exchange rate will be favorable and wont fluctuate wildly.) They do this, by exchanging their money, for our treasury bonds.
If they stopped buying our bonds ("debt") then their currency would rise and their economy slow down.. and once again, China would (once again) see the peasants throwing out their govt.
The real kicked about this video, is that the professor says "moved away from their principles" and talks about health care, stimulus spending, and increased taxes on the wealthy. the reason this is so ridiculous, is that this is EXACTLY what China has done to counteract the global recession, and they were one of the first countries to bounce back.
Those things, are what large corporations and insurance companies don't want.
One thing is for sure! chinese have government that knows what is good for their country and if they have they will force it to the citizens, because citizens come and go the country stays. On the other hand americans are so brainwashed by their so called "free media" that they cant say bad from good any more. today in america even if Jesus is candidate for president he wont be elected by the americans. Sorry no hope for your ones great country now just one big corporation.
@mihail1111 More and more Americans are realizing the destructiveness of "political correctness." The jig is up, progressives. We're not buying into it anymore. You're "multi-culturalism" push is over. We're Americans. Hypenation is on it's way out, our "Melting Pot" that made America such a great and unique Country is going to be restored.
This is so factually wrong it is not even. I will challenge anyone to actually prove this. First of all, China does not "own most of [our] debt". Our debt nominally is just over 13 trillion. China owns just over 800 BILLION of that debt. Nice try to their. They are our largest foreign creditors, but our largest creditor in actuality is ourselves, almost half that debt is owed to FED, which is a non profit institution meaning profits go back to the Treasury. China owns less then 10% of our debt.
@ken02shs What's offensive about it? The Chinese are just exploiting a situation created by the U.S. We should be offended that we allowed it to happen. And yes, you are right, the answer is to de-regulate industry, get Government our of the way, and allow manufacturing industries to re-populate America. It's going to take other economic policies, like high import taxes on goods to even the field.
@fab4bear You actually thing manufacturing jobs are coming back here? This is so so sad. Welcome to 2010, that is not happening unless we revert to a third world nation, or the manufacturing is being done by robots. We don't live in that world anymore, soon those jobs will be leaving urban China into rural China, and then after that, When China joins the ranks of first world nation, Those jobs will be in Vietnam. Albert Einstein was right when he said that we need Socialism.
@BigVic405g I believe it is the way out of this mess. I know it's a big proposition, but there have been bigger hurdles in our past. The only thing that will stop us is us. I think we need to reverse the food chain. Currently, the progressives have turned it upside down with man at the bottom of the pyramid. We need to right-side it where the pyramid points up, and man is on top. Then the spotted owl, and the delta smelts will be in their right places. We've let the inmates run the asylum.
@fab4bear I have just one question, what the hell are you talking about? Seriously, the way out is to produce more, sure that is obvious, but at what wages, how do you compete with 10 cents an hour? You have this all wrong, If people would actually invest in people (yes that is almost degrading to turn people into assets that can be invested in, but I lack a better metaphor), If we made higher education a priority and realized we can only compete in terms of improved forms of production.
Being an American Born Chinese I find this very offensive, and portrays Chinese in a negative light. Maybe the US should try exporting more and manufacturing something people want. Our education system k-12 doesn't even compare to the other top educated countries.
"Oh the economy will recover. don't worry!" .. but we're in debt, and growing by the second. "Ohhh, don't worry. Our economy will hold strong"... pfft.
@Iaganatzi You do realize the republican party wanted to do NOTHING about the economy... that was their stance... to do NOTHING. And for AGES they denied there was even a problem. Ugh, from under what rock do all of you people crawl out of.
China invests in wind farms, and the GOP opposes their construction in the US.
China invests in solar farms, and the GOP opposes their construction in the US.
China invests in electric car manufacturing, and the GOP opposes it in the US.
This ad gets one thing right. The Chinese know what's up, and what they need to do to prepare for the future. What it gets wrong is that the GOP is consistently opposed to these crucial technologies, because of their association with environmentalism.
@Zamboro China may be able to get away with it because they don't pay their workers shit. SPAIN has learned their lesson. They tried the "green" thing, and they learned that for every 1 green job, they lost 2 other jobs.
Yes, I do, because of the details. Spain invested in panel based solar farms, which I do not advocate. Heliostats provide many times more power using less land and at a far lower cost. Google purchased some recently, and others are being bought by Microsoft and IBM, corporate partners of EV charge network providers.
Unlike Spain we are also investing in new nuclear power plants, something I strongly approve of, although my hope is that we gradually switch from Uranium to Thorium.
Ah yes, the terrible "tax and spend" plan. As opposed to the GOP's wonderful alternative, the "spend and spend" plan that gave us all of this lovely debt in the first place. Those "tax and spend" assholes would spend our cash on useless education and healthcare rather than something useful, like war.
America has indeed stopped paying attention to what made it successful: The power of the scientific method and a constant desire to build a better future rather than to regress into the past.
@3Gyro The Democrats have occupied the power in the house since 2006, Barney Frank blocked George Bush from trying to do anything about Freddie and Fannie (who started this economic mess, along with the Democrat Community Reinvestment Act) and you blame the Republicans. IGNORANT LIBERAL.
@fab4bear Republicans are no different than the Democrats. Both parties assualt our liberties. Democrats are socialists that assault our economic liberty and Republicans are fascists that assault our individual liberty. Libertarians like Ron Paul and Gary Johnson are the only ones that seem to get it.
@residentzombie You have it wrong. Democrats wage war against the individual, that's where the "collective salvation" comes in from obama's Black Liberation Theology from Rev. Jeremiah Wright. It follows through in the progressive's political policies, "social justice" is a collective thing, not individual. And you call Republicans fascists. That just doesn't make sense at all. Republicans have lost their "small government" way, but I hope they got a big Wake Up Call from the Tea Party!
US is untouchable at this point of time and will be for a while. We do need to find a way out of our debt (MAY BE DON'T PAY IT AT ALL) and stop buying happy meal toys.
BUY AMERICAN, BREATH AMERICAN, LIVE AMERICAN.
F*** our enemies and salute our friends. China is stinky place, let them stink.
I migrated from another country supposedly biggest democracy on this planet and traveled quite a few places. AMERICA is the only place that comes close to some form of democracy.
@djsufferthing "Doing something" doesn't necessarily equate to doing something good. Just like obama's pledge, "Hope & Change" YEAH, RIGHT! Change us into something unrecognizable. NO THANKS.
Teabaggers and most conservatives/republicans, are inherently fear (and war) mongers. You simply can't take anything they say at face value. I just wish they'd display a disclaimer stating that they're all fucking bat-shit-crazy and in no way represent the actual opinions of every person in the USA.
As if China has a choice in whether they can lend us money or not (money they'll never see again, as our Federal Reserve deliberately kills the dollar, and the new standard currency, the kilo-dollar, rolls around)...
I'm confused - is this video's message that a communist system is wonderful? It shows the communist Chinese as happy and technologically savvy. I thought we are being warned, by the capitalist purists, that any kind of government involvement leads to failure and misery. If government control equals doom then how did those Chinese communists (the extreme extent of government control) win?
Wait – is this video just another scare tactic used to manipulate the weak minded?
@parkarch616 You must be a moron, because China has been moving away from Communism towards Capitalist business tendencies for a very long time, this is why they have 10%+ growth every year when their populace saves on average 30% of all their income each year.
@HermannTheGreat Really not true, but nice try. China has been achieving over 10% growth since the late 70s/early 80s, well before the reforms took place. Over 80% of China is state owned, and will be for a long time, as well as all their commanding heights, which there is NO plan to privatize. Not to mention that they're still a planned economy. Only in a moron's mind can this be called capitalist tendencies. Economic illiteracy at its finest.
This of course doesn't mention that China is completely a TAX and SPEND country. Wow, how much more intellectually dishonest does someone have to be to make these assertions.
To the contrary. Survival depends on adaptation. Following "what used to work" is the opposite of adaptation. Such nations are ran over by reality.
Humanity's core strength is experience (thanks to our ability to pass it on, thus not depending on an individuals lifespan). A nation that believe it's "developed" rather than in "development" is already dead.
@JemyM By your logic, I can surmise you don't believe Americans are innovative? Or you don't believe in American Exceptionalism? Many of the World's best inventions and ideas have come from America. That is largely because for a long while Government got out of the way, and allowed Free Enterprise to rule the Market. That, Sir is the problem with America today, and it gets worse and worse with the progressives who believe Government is the solution.
@fab4bear "American Exceptionalism" is a myth. It did contribute to kill the nation though.
Innovation spawns from humanitys core strength; experience grown beyond a lifespan thanks to the power to pass it on. The US's education system is the nations deadly wound. Top grade chinese students learn american, european and asian trends to be able to compete worldwide, and there are now more of them than there are american citizens. Also, this generations greatest achievement (the LHC) is in Europe.
@JemyM You're too young to know. I grew up in a different time, when most of the World ADMIRED America, and were grateful for our accomplishments. To call it a "myth" is intellectually dishonest. I hope you get the opportunity to experience it sometime, but then again, you don't believe in anything.
@fab4bear I study history, US was admired for good reasons. One can't compete with the moonlanding as mankinds greatest achievement. But as rule; nations who believe they are "great" or "done" cease to develop. Generations later, studies show West Europe offering equal if not better opportunity. US was "founded" on the most radical and advanced enlightenment philosophy at the time. Europe absorbed the US model post ww2, but have continued to evolve and grow through experience.
@fab4bear Europe evolved between 2 extremes during the Cold War, saw the issues on both sides, balanced capitalism and socialism and then moved on. Thus those nations have a strong organic structure that continue to develop over generations while they also strive to maximize personal freedom. Neither GULAG's or GHETTO's are acceptable if a nation is to be seen as sucessful. Asia develops faster, but at the cost of social freedom and individuality.
And the stimulus plan and health care plan that we had to borrow a couple TRILLION from china is all Obama. The bailout failed, but the Democrats didn't learn and just amplified Bush's idea and guess what... it's failing too.
@TeapotWriter We did not borrow a couple TRILLION from China, China only owns about 840 BILLION dollars in debt from us. But don't let facts ruin your argument.
@CrazyShakaZulu You're being completely intellectually dishonest. All you can do is scream anti-colonialism rhetoric. Go back to your Black Liberation Theology Church with your "collective salvation" nonsense.
@fab4bear You're ignoring that this commercial is stating BS lies about why nations actually decline. Insulting someone you don't know doesn't make you intellectually superior to me. Enjoy the rest of your day you colonial redneck.
Why is almost no one concerned with "government waste" SCREAMING about military spending? True military spending (including interest on past military $) is a MAJORITY of the federal discretionary budget.
It has done the opposite of making the world / US safer (says even the CIA), and it has contributed directly to the world's financial crisis. The around $5 trillion cost of the wars combined with the near $1 trillion per year in total NORMAL military spending is MORE than our whole debt. WAKEUP
@lclarsen your numbers are way off. the wars cost about 7 billion a year and it might go to 1 trillion overall in the course of almost 10 YEARS..comared to the 888 billion a year spent on welfare.. which will be around 8 TRILLION over 10 years.. but your right its the war, not people with their hands out..jackass
PLUS... the "welfare" payments benefit the general economy as poorer people use it to buy consumer goods, whereas the military payments just burn up gas and iron in the desert... so much for the "money multiplier" effect if you even knew what that was.
this ad has too many inferences that are historically incorrect and/or logically fallacious to take serious, despite the high production qualities a bad ad all around except for the faux future visuals, with nothing to contribute besides a bunch of emotionalized drivel
@fab4bear it claims america went back on it's values, it's real values however, have never been turned back on, merely continued to a destructive degree, just like every empire out there, greek, persian, and roman, even mongol and british as well
@fab4bear it then relates medicare changes which work in many countries just fine, to some great economical sin that can never be forgiven, and furthermore it makes the mistake of underestimating just how useful a stimulus is and what it's good for, overall a shoddy piece of work except for the set designers, CGI artists, and actors
in short, everyone but the content designers did a good job, which is kind of sad really
@fab4bear oh, and of course comparing government usage of industries to some great economical sin, which of course is yet again improper and incorrect
@fab4bear furthermore, america doesn't work for china, china works for america, even though it owes china lots, because of how wal mart treats it's chinese workers (terribly)
@WelcomeToPlanetEarth You're wrong. Regulations made it impossible for MANUFACTURING Industries to continue. Example: STEEL. We were the leading World supplier. "Pollutant Regulations" killed that industry. The Unions have all but killed the Auto Industry. We used to be the World's largest manufacturer of Autos, no longer. I'm sure the principal applies to other industries. Now, with China's cheap labor, they are the leading manufacturing Country.
china has a few advantages for production compared to american groups, low dollar which is kept low on purpose, while the americans are trying to keep their dollar up relative to others...lolwat. cheap labour from a large pool of it, less cost of health regulations (they don't put as much importance on human life as north americans do overall, this comes from a general life experience of poverty to a degree I think so they're used to it) and rapidly improving production facilities
Your idea that environmental regulation "killed" the US steel industry etc is INSANE. you are an ideologist not interested in the economic facts behind international industrial competition.
The unions in Japan and Germany obtained far more worker privileges (union members in Germany HAVE to be on every board) but their industries were not wiped out.
Better management in foreign run steel operations. S. Korea's GOVERNMENT run steel company became the most successful in the world for example... sometimes it take a bit of long term thinking.
Both public and private run businesses can be run well or poorly, focusing on the long or the short term. I.E. Norway vs. Dubai.
anyone else chinese and feels awkward watching this?

This ad blew me away. Borrowing money to create jobs is bogus and short lived. Additionally, we don't manufacture much in this country any more. Our continued purchasing of cheap goods from abroad is transferring what's left of our wealth after it got sucked up by the oil rich countries. Buying US made products allows US employees to pay taxes on their income and spend their money in our country. Ultimately, buying goods from overseas may not prove to be the bargain you thought.

The bottom line is that we must build china or they will start ww III. Everyday millions of their people are dying of starvation. When rats get hungry and there is no food around to eat then rats go outside their area to look for food. this is the most ridiculous xenophobic propaganda i have ever seen on t.v. used to make Americans fear the big bad "obama-care", and attempt to criticize the stimulus package. point is the stimulus package created jobs and pulled us out of a near depression, and universal health care is not a ridiculous waste of tax dollars that will bankrupt us.

Spotted owls & smelts last.
fab4bear 1 year ago
@fab4bear you mean the mess that was caused after the huge deficit incurred by the majority republican congress, and republican president? i don't know if you know this but job loss began before Obama entered the white house, also we were loaned money from China when Bush was in office to cover the 1.4 trillion dollar deficit..But i would also like to point out that almost every president we have had for the past century has implemented socialist policies, and social democracy is not communism.
VinceFSU07 1 year ago
@VinceFSU07 The Congress was taken over in 2006, so don't blame Bush for the Democrats' spending. You conveniently want to ignore that FACT. Furthermore, Bush tried unsuccessfully to rein in the gorging of Fanny and Freddy, but your Congressman, Barney Frank, repeatedly said they were both "Fine" and he wanted to "roll the dice" some more. On top of that, Bush left a $485 Billion dollar deficit which obama promptly QUADRUPLED. Yes, Bush did some bad things, but your obama has made it worse.
fab4bear 1 year ago
@fab4bear here are a couple of facts for you; stimulus package created 3.3 million jobs, reduced our 10% unemployment rate by 2% and raised our GDP by 4.5%. i don't know your knowledge of economics but it isn't difficult to see that as proof of success of the stimulus measure. (data was from a bi-partisan congressional committee.) it was meant to curve the rise in unemployment and our dwindling GDP by that measure it was a success. numbers don't lie..
VinceFSU07 1 year ago 4
@VinceFSU07 Poppycock! First of all, NOBODY can PROVE how many jobs were "created" but I can tell you that the vast majority were temporary road construction, emphasis on temporary and the so-called census jobs, also temporary. And we learned of the various methods of Washington to inflate the counts. And the unemployment is over 12% when you factor in the people who gave up looking.
fab4bear 1 year ago
@VinceFSU07 really what kind of jobs were created and what was produced out of that GDP?? you really have no idea how those are calculated do you, its a lie.
OneCourageous 1 year ago
@VinceFSU07 What you say here is not completely true. Most of these numbers began to rise including the stock market after the election in November and a Republican House was elected.

In addition, Japan, Korea, Russia, and Taiwan are also America's creditors besides China! Do you want to rise protectionism in the worldwide?
TedMcHung 1 year ago

Second, china's socialist policies and birth polict (one child per couple) has created a boomer generation that makes ours a droup in a bucket. Finally China relies on the dollar, if it fails, china fails.

Look what happened.

Its the reality though, that that the corporations feed us nonsense, and our politicians are too scared to give us the truth.
crock703 1 year ago
@crock703
And our elected leaders are right to be scared -- look what happened tonight. The politicians who voted for policies that were the lesser of two evils, were booted out by voters.. who will not get politicians with even less spine, and who will make the economy languish even longer. All because people/corporations were able to buy slick commercials (and news networks) that lied to us and intentionally scared us, like this one.
crock703 1 year ago
@fab4bear
They buy our debt because they have to. They manipulate their currency, keeping its value low and stable, so that companies choose to manufacture there (because they know the exchange rate will be favorable and wont fluctuate wildly.) They do this, by exchanging their money, for our treasury bonds.
If they stopped buying our bonds ("debt") then their currency would rise and their economy slow down.. and once again, China would (once again) see the peasants throwing out their govt.
crock703 1 year ago 2
@fab4bear

Teabaggers and most conservatives/republicans, are inherently fear (and war) mongers. You simply can't take anything they say at face value. I just wish they'd display a disclaimer stating that they're all fucking bat-shit-crazy and in no way represent the actual opinions of every person in the USA.
djsufferthing 1 year ago
@djsufferthing Name calling and slander doesn't work anymore. What has the Democrats and obama done to help America?

This is the dumbest thing ever.

Wait – is this video just another scare tactic used to manipulate the weak minded?
parkarch616 1 year ago
@parkarch616 You must be a moron, because China has been moving away from Communism towards Capitalist business tendencies for a very long time, this is why they have 10%+ growth every year when their populace saves on average 30% of all their income each year.
HermannTheGreat 1 year ago 2
@HermannTheGreat Really not true, but nice try. China has been achieving over 10% growth since the late 70s/early 80s, well before the reforms took place. Over 80% of China is state owned, and will be for a long time, as well as all their commanding heights, which there is NO plan to privatize. Not to mention that they're still a planned economy. Only in a moron's mind can this be called capitalist tendencies. Economic illiteracy at its finest.
BigVic405g 1 year ago
This of course doesn't mention that China is completely a TAX and SPEND country. Wow, how much more intellectually dishonest does someone have to be to make these assertions.

To the contrary. Survival depends on adaptation. Following "what used to work" is the opposite of adaptation. Such nations are ran over by reality.
Humanity's core strength is experience (thanks to our ability to pass it on, thus not depending on an individuals lifespan). A nation that believe it's "developed" rather than in "development" is already dead.
JemyM 1 year ago 6
@JemyM By your logic, I can surmise you don't believe Americans are innovative? Or you don't believe in American Exceptionalism? Many of the World's best inventions and ideas have come from America. That is largely because for a long while Government got out of the way, and allowed Free Enterprise to rule the Market. That, Sir is the problem with America today, and it gets worse and worse with the progressives who believe Government is the solution.
fab4bear 1 year ago
@fab4bear "American Exceptionalism" is a myth. It did contribute to kill the nation though.
Innovation spawns from humanitys core strength; experience grown beyond a lifespan thanks to the power to pass it on. The US's education system is the nations deadly wound. Top grade chinese students learn american, european and asian trends to be able to compete worldwide, and there are now more of them than there are american citizens. Also, this generations greatest achievement (the LHC) is in Europe.
JemyM 1 year ago
@JemyM You're too young to know. I grew up in a different time, when most of the World ADMIRED America, and were grateful for our accomplishments. To call it a "myth" is intellectually dishonest. I hope you get the opportunity to experience it sometime, but then again, you don't believe in anything.
fab4bear 1 year ago
@fab4bear I study history, US was admired for good reasons. One can't compete with the moonlanding as mankinds greatest achievement. But as rule; nations who believe they are "great" or "done" cease to develop. Generations later, studies show West Europe offering equal if not better opportunity. US was "founded" on the most radical and advanced enlightenment philosophy at the time. Europe absorbed the US model post ww2, but have continued to evolve and grow through experience.
JemyM 1 year ago

TeapotWriter 1 year ago 2
@TeapotWriter We did not borrow a couple TRILLION from China, China only owns about 840 BILLION dollars in debt from us. But don't let facts ruin your argument.

Grumpy434 1 year ago
@Grumpy434
HAHAHAHA.... the numbers are from Nobel Economist Joe Stiglitz. on democracy now this week.
I don't know how you define "welfare".... including medicare etc? Even by generous estimates it's far less than half of what you're saying.
lclarsen 1 year ago
PLUS... the "welfare" payments benefit the general economy as poorer people use it to buy consumer goods, whereas the military payments just burn up gas and iron in the desert... so much for the "money multiplier" effect if you even knew what that was.

this ad has too many inferences that are historically incorrect and/or logically fallacious to take serious, despite the high production qualities a bad ad all around except for the faux future visuals, with nothing to contribute besides a bunch of emotionalized drivel
noobler9 1 year ago
@noobler9 You either miss the point or you're trying to dismiss it.
fab4bear 1 year ago
@fab4bear the point is it's wrong and it's using rhetoric to try to make up for it, and some people buy into it and think it's "well thought out"
noobler9 1 year ago
@noobler9 HOW is it "wrong?"
fab4bear 1 year ago
@fab4bear it claims america went back on it's values, it's real values however, have never been turned back on, merely continued to a destructive degree, just like every empire out there, greek, persian, and roman, even mongol and british as well
noobler9 1 year ago
@fab4bear it then relates medicare changes which work in many countries just fine, to some great economical sin that can never be forgiven, and furthermore it makes the mistake of underestimating just how useful a stimulus is and what it's good for, overall a shoddy piece of work except for the set designers, CGI artists, and actors
in short, everyone but the content designers did a good job, which is kind of sad really
noobler9 1 year ago
@fab4bear oh, and of course comparing government usage of industries to some great economical sin, which of course is yet again improper and incorrect
noobler9 1 year ago
@fab4bear furthermore, america doesn't work for china, china works for america, even though it owes china lots, because of how wal mart treats it's chinese workers (terribly)

@WelcomeToPlanetEarth You're wrong. Regulations made it impossible for MANUFACTURING Industries to continue. Example: STEEL. We were the leading World supplier. "Pollutant Regulations" killed that industry. The Unions have all but killed the Auto Industry. We used to be the World's largest manufacturer of Autos, no longer. I'm sure the principal applies to other industries. Now, with China's cheap labor, they are the leading manufacturing Country.
fab4bear 1 year ago
@fab4bear actually, it was urbanization that killed it moreso...
noobler9 1 year ago
china has a few advantages for production compared to american groups, low dollar which is kept low on purpose, while the americans are trying to keep their dollar up relative to others...lolwat. cheap labour from a large pool of it, less cost of health regulations (they don't put as much importance on human life as north americans do overall, this comes from a general life experience of poverty to a degree I think so they're used to it) and rapidly improving production facilities
noobler9 1 year ago
@fab4bear
OPEN your MIND : P
lclarsen 1 year ago
@lclarsen Then tell me in your opinion what did kill the steel industry?
fab4bear 1 year ago
@fab4bear
Better management in foreign run steel operations. S. Korea's GOVERNMENT run steel company became the most successful in the world for example... sometimes it take a bit of long term thinking.
Both public and private run businesses can be run well or poorly, focusing on the long or the short term. I.E. Norway vs. Dubai.
