What about remakes? Movies do that all the time. Lest we forget the most obvious thing of all here, Zeppelin got their start doing covers of old blues songs. Granted, they were seriously reworked though.

Its only because they are very contained in what they do. They only play in Japan and are recognised very little. Sakurai has a number of videos of his own which are on sale in Japan. But since not many people go to Japan due to distance and the alphabet, let alone the language. They never get noticed that much.
