  • May you ride the service elevator

  • I wish that store never closed.

  • Sad to say this store is now closed. The menger hotel is just across the alley from here. Thank you. Last time I was there the rubber overrides didn't really work either.

  • Dillard's used only 100,000 something sq ft.out of over 500,000 sq ft. Joske's was also famous for a holiday land for children during christmas season. Joske's was founded by a german immigrant in san antonio. Joske's has fasinated me for a long time and we had there stores in houston. The only Joske's still in use here (that i know of) is Dillard's Post Oak at The Galleria. The one I grew up with at Town & country has been demolished.

  • Thank you for posting this. I thougt I Would share a little of the history of this store. This was the original Joske's built in 1938 or 39. I would guess this elevator to be traction due to the fact it owuld often bounce on the 2nd floor. The bouncing seemed to come from above. The service elevator here was likely originally a passenger car as well. Joske's had a restaurant and tea room in the basement. Dillards also did not use the entire building. continuedin next post.

  • No it wasn't

  • Was the inside a touch sensitive?

  • When is that installed?

  • Dangerous

  • Ya I have heard of touch sensers. Thats the kind of sensers they have on the Belk elevator at the Avenues Mall.

  • yeah I saw it this elevator has touch sensers next time when the doors are closing hit the black bar that sticks out of the door and it will reopen

  • hydraulic elevator or traction?

  • hydralic

  • Ya sure? Look like traction to me since elevator went up too fast

  • well the hydralic elevator at JC Penny in monroville mall is hydralic and goes pretty fast I Know it was hydralic because of the sound hydralic can be pretty fast to nto as fast as traction but it might have been moterized

  • That JCPenny elevator is actually traction.

  • The elevator has sensors actually. Notice the black bars that pops out when the doors are closing. When there is an obstacle btw the doors and doors hit it, they will open again.

  • those are in older elevators and they used to have thoses in the elevators at monroville mall but then they replaced them with sencers

  • Um how are those sensors is you have to push on them for them to work?

I thought a sensor worked automatically when it detected motion.

  • Why Otis elevators have no sensors in passenger lift instead of service lift. Do service lift have sensors. Why do they need key to the service lift.

  • Service elevators are usually allied because the staff needs them for deliveries or transporting big items, and it wouldn't be convenient for them if customers were always using it.

  • i like how in each vid you say lets go to the elevator its like your trademark

  • I was talking to gluse

  • I said take a vid

  • of what

  • ru obsessed with lifts or something ?

  • Take a vid of the Riverwalk Mall Elevator

  • I have been in it before and its Montgomery

  • what are you talkig about Ive seen your mall elevator video you said its a Schindler?

  • no wait that was stonebriar mall elevator sorry

  • by the way the service elevator big things it works you might need a key to acess itand its for things that wont fit in the other one

  • the service elevator is probably for frieght, and this is an Otis elevator with no sensor, so its probably one of the older ones

  • All otis elevators has sensors. Especially the new ones.

  • I've been on an old otis with no sensors not all elevators have sensors

  • all new otis have snesors
