@marsopilami187 Me too! I severely dislocated my knee at 17 and was told never to do martial arts again. I did not listen but soon found that I had to take a break. When I switched to kung fu I healed the knee over 5 years of training. Now I cannot dislocate it even if I try. Cured. Kung fu, tai chi, chi gong are all healing arts.
This is NOT Xin Jia Yi Lu for god sakes anyone can look up any other video of it on YouTube and see all the missing steps...and Lao Jia has 73 steps Xin Jia has 83!
@skyfiiire This IS Xin Jia. However it can't be called Yi Lu since it is shortened and does not contain all the movements. However the form's essence is Xin Jia and not Lao Jia. This is more like a Xin Jia recompiled for performance.
Taichibegginner, you're wrong. This IS xinjia yi lu. Laojia yi lu is much longer and virtually has no fajin. Check out some Chen Zhenglei videos and you'll see what I'm talking about.
@DonHorhe Xin Jia has nothing to do with Fajing. Only reason why it looks powerful is because 1. Chen Fake saw that Masters always tend to hit their powers when they reached certain level, so he expressed some of the internal discipline externally so it's easier for students with prior experiences to learn. 2. Chen Fake taught in beijing. He wanted to hide the disciplines of tajiquan among all those flashy circles so imitators would never be able to figure out taiji just by looking at it
@DonHorhe Lao Jia Yi Lu is much shorter especially when shaking, more coiling and fancy Xin Jia externals are not added, it's even shorter. The original Lao Jia form is only 10 minutes long. The variation of Lao Jia by Four Buddha attendants in Chen village are around 13 to 17 minutes long. The entire Xin Jia Yi Lu goes up to 21 to 25 minutes if you do it without omitting any movements.
Good "performace". I wish someone could post grand master Chen Xiaowang's youngest son's video when he was this age, then you will know the differences. Move me to tears.
@DonHorhe Many Chen masters in the old days didn't live longer than 60 years old because they were professional fighters and they practiced taji for maximum speed and power and used excessive fajin even when their channels weren't clear. Even the modern day masters such as Chen Xiaowang experienced severe back injuries and torn knee ligaments due to excessive low stance and fajin in order to appeal to the general public.
@DonHorhe Hi DonHorhe -- Chen Xiaowang had knee surgery about 10 years ago. Took him a while to recover. One of the reasons -- the stomps. I do Chen style.
@DonHorhe Well, actually, Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang had knee surgery several years ago, around 2001 maybe. Speculation was that the stomps were part of the cause.
Its impressive but I rather hope somebody teaches him to keep look after his knees a little better... all that side to side movement whilst the leg is bearing his weight is going to cause a lot of damage over time.
Your wrong, Such practices are alway acompany with internal chi work. Just look at other Videos of 70 year old mans doing even more impressive demos in you tube.
I think this kid has the idea of proper alignment and relaxation down. If the knees are relaxed and the movement is circular then everything should be fine. Your force can move through your legs and rebound back (and change direction)because your legs are relaxed thus allowing it to move through without stopping at points of tension (e.g. when your joints or muscles are tense).
I agree, the best form performance I've ever seen. This kid is great, I only tried to copy his first leg movements and looked so bad in the mirror, LOL!

小小年己以能表演出太極內剛柔並用的招數(成人也未必能),果然嚴師出高徙,如能繼續段練:將來很定是太極門一代宗師.

@TaiChibegginner No grounding or center? All tai chi has centering. It is the most fundamental concept.

I thought the same watching this video. I think his postures are too low. But his taiji is great. I love it!
krysawalker 4 years ago
Chen style is lower in stances then the other Tai-Chi Styles. Or at least from what I have seen.
Akaoushi 3 years ago
Yes, I am Chen style student. But this is too low, I think. Our master calls this "false posture" :-))) It is my common problem :-)))))
