The notes in the upper register sound good - but the med high - to the top of staff pitches are too dimmed...too quiet. The screamers are closer to pitch which is fine, but entrances of melodies at the beginning and middle of the tunes could use a bit higher pitch....or the horn could be causing it.

Something about the Maynardisms (knee-bending while playing, ripping the trumpet off your face after a high note, etc) just strikes me the wrong way. Maynard was a strong individual, and was always himself. I almost feel as if Maynard is being lampooned, though I sure the intention is completely respectful. I'm sure he'd feel just as honored by someone trying to pay a tribute with their own stamp on it, rather than copy his performing style to the minutest detail.

Elvis loved it and couldn't get enough watching all the impersonators before he died....Maynard had a sense of humor and would get a good chuckle if he could watch our show. You obviously don't know much about Maynard nor do you play his music

I sometimes make the mistake of being too precise and expecting other people to pick up on it. I really meant exactly what I said. *I* would feel slightly uncomfortable with this level of impersonation. I'm well aware that Maynard would probably just laugh and shake your hand at the end of the concert.

I guess I'm really trying to make too fine of a point, since I can't even articulate what I'm saying.

Maybe it's just because I notice that those who actually played in his band (Roger Ingram, Wayne Bergeron, etc.) never copy his tics, just his playing.
