  • Talladega Superspeedway to me has always been the greatest racing venue ever built but this place in Germany is at least as good because they dont use restrictor plates haha!  I can just imagine these cars racing at talladega ahhhh!!!!!

  • just to stop anymore arguement the veyron has such a big engine because even though the koeniggsegg can get 888 the fuel consumption won't allow any more power v12's are even worse so they had to put two v8's in to get the extra power. also the limiter that has been put in place is to stop the car from going over 300 MPH as the tyre compound used could not take it and they haven't yet researched one that can handle the heat from going that fast (no one has).

  • people all are talking about how the ssc aero is the fastest production car in the world, but that car doesn't have half the stuff that the bugatti has in it, such as air conditioning, and in the aero, the radio and sat nav are optional extras. still, the ssc in alot cheaper than the bugatti.

    Then there are those who say it's no good. Yet they have never even seen it for real let alone driven it. Most important they have no clue what engineering brilliance went into it. The gearbox alone is state of the art.

  • It's not the same Bugatti that produced the Atlantic. This was a company of the same name started by Volkswagon late in the last century.

    I think they won't let it around the track because they know that it's a bucket when it comes to racing. It's way heavier than the Koenigsegg or the Pagani, so it needs to corner a lot slower.

  • It may have Audi parts, but the badge is what counts as that is what you are buying. Italians build Ferraris, French cars have led the way in engineering that Germans played catch up on, and the French Venturi company is a cutting edge in car design and engineering.

  • u know when you think about it the Bugatti Veryon is not that amazing. I mean it's cool but a Meclearen F1 has 800hp and it still does 242mph. And the Veryon is full of stupid crap like a radio. when I drive a super car I don't want to listen to the damn radio I want the listen to that awesome engine. They could have dropped a whole bunch of weight and they could have made it go even faster.

  • The standard Mclaren F1 has 627 hp and the most powerful Mclaren F1, the LM has 680 hp not 800 hp. The Mclaren F1 has an OFFICIAL top speed 240.14 mph without the factory rev limiter. You've got to remember that the Veyron is electronically limited to 253.2 mph and so as its engine output. And also the Veyron is completely factory standard during the top speed test unlike the Mclaren F1. I also wanted to point out that Mclaren F1 suffers from mild body roll, vague steering and instability.

  • Koenigsegg can get 888 from a 4.8 V8, I think Bugatti's tuning engineers need to work a little harder. It shouldn't need almost twice the capacity to achieve an extra 113 HP.

  • The main reason why the Bugatti Veyron uses an 8.0 liter W16 Quad-Turbo engine is because of Bugatti's past prototypes (Bugatti Type 45: 16 cylinders, concept cars (Bugatti EB118 and EB218: W-engine) and predecessor (Bugatti EB110: Quad-Turbo, All-wheel drive, Retractable rear spoiler and Hybrid Construction). Also, the engine output of the Bugatti Veyron is deliberately detuned to produce 1001 hp. It's quite obvious that 1001 hp output is fixed.

  • They had the engine worked out, but they weren't getting past 230-ish. They fiddled with the aerodynamics a little and managed to get to the objective. Then they put a limiter on.

    It sounds to me like the limited it by an absolutely tiny amount- maybe 1 or 2 mph, then wrote everywhere they could that they limited the output to 1001 bhp. Without a limiter it would probably only produce a couple more horsepower.

  • Wrong!! The 8.0 liter W16 Quad-Turbo engine of the Bugatti Veyron is still very much capable of producing "AT LEAST" 1250 hp and 1106 lb ft. of torque and those figures are still very likely to be conservative.

  • 1250 would take a car as aerodynamic as a Koenigsegg to 300. 300 mph tires, body work, and suspension may be hyper expensive, but it already costs nearly a million pounds and why would you hold back if you were trying to develop something people would call the best car in the world?

    F1 cars don't have to obey noise restrictions. Why not compare to the space shuttle if you're willing to completely ignore category?

  • lol 300? theres a small problem. aerodynamics. its not like 180 is 3 times more drag than 60, thats actually 36 times more drag! so realistically (if it had downforce to even stay in a straight line youre talking 270 if youre extremely lucky and can actually keep it on the road...

  • I was told that aerodynamic drag at low speeds is proportional to velocity. At high speeds (commercial jet type speeds), it's proportional to velocity squared. Even if you go with the v^2 relationship, 3x speed means 9x drag, I don't know where you're getting 36x. With 1018, the CCXR is supposedly able to hit 262. I know 300 is a high guess, but I'm illustrating the point that Koenigsegg has done more with less and, I feel, deserves more respect.

    An F1 car is rev limited to 19000 rpm and it churns out more than 700 bhp. Yet it's engine is only 2.4 litres in size.

    Plainly, as what amdbs had said, the use of a large W16 to churn out 1001 PS was a deliberate move by Bugatti.

  • Formula 1 is faster. You gotta compare them on the same piece of road - you can't compare the bugatti's top speed on an 8 kilometre straight, with Formula 1's top speed on a Grand Prix circuit with just a 1 km straight! Take the F1 to the same straight as the bugatti and it could top end at 500 kmh (according to Schumacher himself).

The Bugatti Veyron is a road-legal production car therefore it needs to pass an emissions test, a safety test for road cars, it needs to comply with noise regulations, it needs to have head lamps, tail lamps and indicators and it needs to be able to go over speed bumps. There are also laws concerning tires (e.g. slick tires).

  • 3. The Bugatti Veyron has 2 seats, airbags, interior upholstery, some luggage space, it has a CD auto-changer and it even has satellite navigation.

    4. A Formula 1 car was design and built as a race car unlike the Bugatti Veyron which was design and built as a production road car. It is common sense the F1 car will be faster than the Bugatti Veyron around the track because it is a race car whereas the Bugatti Veyron is a production road car.

  • lets put it this way...if i lived in the southern US where speeding laws are relatively lax, and weather is quite good, then i would think about getting the indy car. but, if i lived say where i live now, toronto, canada, having an indy car wouldnt be practical as i could only drive it for 4 months in a year...the veyron on the other hand i could drive pretty much whenever, whether i'd want to subject it to our harsh winters is a different story...

  • F1 engines range from 700 to 1300 horsepower and now run at 20,000 rpm. They only weigh 500 kg. Their tyres are 45 cm wide each (and soft as gum in qualifying). Their wings are as powerful as aircraft so they are stuck like supermagnets and the brakes are pure carbon. So they do 0-200k in 3.5 secs and top speed 367k (or 413k with wings removed). They brake and corner at 5 times gravity force! Sorry, it's no contest.
