Ok, quick question, which one of those books that contain a preflight checklist for the plane. Both Normal and Abnormal condition like that of the PMDG 747?
@Wardog22476 Hello. Well the checklist are separated from the big "books", they are just 4 small pages, and are also in the QRH. But you will find complete Normal Procedures in the first volume of the FCOM, while abnormal procedures are all in the QRH too.
I do have one question, I printed the PDF doc's and the stack of paper I have here is almost exactly knee height, it does not look like you have that much there. Is everything provided, how does it look so compact, I mean I want to put my pages in folders but it would take over ten binder folders
@diablovt108vt109 I can't really tell how they did it, but there really is the all pdf, just maybe it is not very visible the those are really big binds in terms of the number of pages inside.
BTW, pretty well the only thing that you don't get in PDF is the posters, and if you're concerned about posters. you just spent a lot of money on what you clearly use as a game. FSX is only as realistic as you fly it. believe me if you want to just push and fly this aircraft you can; but if you want to try memorize 4000 pages worth of info and stick to all of it, you can do that too, pretty well all the info is provided about the real bird in the purchased download. Go as deep as you want, enjoy
@diablovt108vt109 the problem is that reading on a computer screen for some people is some times difficult, i read the manuals on my laptop and after 45mins its get hard to keep reading. I'm thinking on print the manuals, but they're 2000+ pages, and normaly the printer after 50 pages start making mistakes. so i have to wait in front of the printer until it prints 2000+ pages and it takes a lot of time. and it'll never be as good as pmdg manuals. so i prefer to buy it.
Just to let all the keen Sim Flyers here know, there is one simple way to save a lot of money here. I am a student obtaining ATPL so I take my flying very serious, both in real life and on the sim to practice what I have been taught. I have spent thousand's on my home flight sim so trust me when I say this; purchasing the PMDG 737 NGX cost me around AUS $80 Now basically all of this documentation comes in PDF. Cost me around $150 in paper and ink to print. Buying all online will be almost $1000
Why is everybody just so negative. If you don't want to watch this, then don't! I love the fact that there are just so many files for just 1 A/C. All basic knowledge xD
Urgh seriously. Anyone whos whos rich enough or willing to pay 300 bucks for manuals that don't even include the addon, for a PC simulator should probably consider taking up flying as a career.
@roger82it well first you need to get an iPad which is even more expensive than the manuals, and getting a product for just one usage would not be interesting, I don't see myself going out with such a product, and I've no real use for it. And the paper format is a nice touch, it's also I think a question of feel, an electronic display is not the same as touching the real thing.
@bleedadream777 you're right they said they will check what they can do about the EFB, but for the reather radar they already told many times it would not be possible, simply because FS does not have accurate information for making a realistic weather radar, you have cloud iformation but no precipitation information, so there is no way to have a realistic weather radar within FSX.
Three hundred dollars?! Have they lost the plot?! I could sort of understand it if they were official Boeing manuals, but some spiral bound manuals about a piece of computer software? You've got to be kidding.
@james737 it's not that expensive just by the look of the quality of it that's not that expensive, more than thre thousands page orth, all in perfect shape, printed by a company that is specialised on providing these same manuals to the companies that fly airplanes. It's basically about 10cents per page
@james737 The information is actually provided by boeing, they claim this to be true and after reading the manuals myself, I am pretty convinced, they are directed at airline's.
@fluginator I don't believe it is miore stupid than other things. First I don't do it always but there are with a quality, and an airplane that meets the point that you can get the official Boeing Documentation.
Now it may be stupid for some, as I thought so many people are crazy enough to spend hundreds of euros each time Apple release a new product with so few new features that I really can't understand how you spend so much bucks for basically almost nothign on a yearly base.
@wedgantilles you can better be a real pilot, as spending 329,99$ for a documentation! yes, its a very interesting documentation and flight instuctions, but its to expensive for 0,5m of paper!
@636555530 Thanks. That is done right now and I'm really waiting the bird to get on the real traingin, right now I'm trying to setup several flights as far as payload and fuel is concerned, which is a bit hard as to how to get really using correctly the many charts available for this :)
@TestPilotVirtual Hello. it includes the FCOM as well as the FCTM. as far as version is concerned the FCTM is the 8th revision of October 31st 2008, and the FCOM is the 24th revision which is dated March 27th 2009. I hope this answer your question.
@arturomx2 Hello. It does talk a bit of the FMC used in situations though I've not read it yet, but it is does not have a chapter dedicated to programming it and thigns like that. The big part about the FMC is in the Flight Crew Operation Manual volume 2 where it is detailed n depths with maybe about 200 pages.
@arturomx2 You need to reference Chapter 11 (the "Flight Management, Navigation") section in Volume 2 of the Flight Crew Operations Manual. I believe the Chapter is about 330 pages by itself, but probably more, as I'm slightly hammered while posting this and my math skills might be lacking. You have to purchase Volumes 1 & 2 together, as I don't see any option to purchase Vol's 1 & 2 separately. It's worth it!

Wow, you could get real flight lessons cheaper than for the price you paid for all of those manuals, I mean if your that serious about aviation.

The Chief's Pilot Set is the ultimate read for the NGX. I love the NGX and I love my manuals.
Much easier to flip around looking for information than using .pdf files and that is the way that the manuals really need to be read.
NGX is so detailed and complex that all of the manuals are relevant within the sim.

@james737 The FCOM and QRH are the actual Boeing Manuals with Jeppersen charts etc.
That's why they will not be available to download from the website like the older manuals
Its well worth the money IMHO, even though I don't have even enough money to upgrade my PC to FSX yet.
