@fredro833 If you can afford it, I would get a mac simply because it is a fully fledged system, but I would get the pro not the air (has disk drive, USB ports and is still very slim and portable, plus the new one has only just been released and at more reasonable prices!) The ipad can be used as a laptop alternative but I don't think it has enough functionality to be used alone (It is still very helpful to have an actual computer to sync the ipad to and backup important files etc).

@fredro833 There are plenty of apps to get work done on the iPad, in fact there is a whole productivity category in the app store, filled with word processing apps, calculators, notes apps etc. Sure there are lots of gaming apps, but there are also thousands of apps.

Yes. An android and an Hp notebook. And their is still nothing like the ipad. the moto xoom's screen is bluish and the batteries not near the ipad not to mention android 3.0 wasnt finished properly. and the galaxy tab is too small to give you that experience. I actually run my windows pc from my laptop when im away. Its weird using windows 7 on the ipad but it works great. I can even watch hulu and porn.

As well as a point of sale. viitual keyboard. advanced photo editor. free messenger. Ive never like an apple product before this. but now I cant stop using it.

@jozhfitz To me it's ok....I will wait for the next generation Ipad if it ever comes. There is no memory expansion, no FLASH support, and I would use it primarily for HD playback for clients. It's not perfect, just cute and expensive for what it is.

I wish Apple made an i-Pad for professional use as a portable unit. To get my "buy it" it needs: a kick stand to watch videos on a desk, CF card and other external media support, firewire, USB 3.0, HDMI out, MULTI-TASKING, bootcamp support.

@gurlinos ok with the big iphone thing, you don't see a big screen TV, and say "oh its just a bigger version of the TV I have at home", that's what the Ipad is, and it isnt meant to be a laptop replacement, but it is a multimedia device, so yes it is just a big ipod touch but that is the point, and the Iphone isnt made for "real" games, it just has simple games that are entertaining to play, and on the Ipad you get those fun to play games in a bigger package, with a higher def screen.

I cant afford an iPad... But I got one anyway, and don't regret it. Game changer? Yes. Its rendered my laptop obsolete. fFlash is for stay at home mummy's playing farmville. I dot use any websites that rely on flash, and for (real) gaming I'll use the PS3. If you have the money to buy a new portable device then consider this a viable option but you will need a functioning desktop for completeness...

I was going to see the robin hood premiere and when I got there a man to the right of me brought his ipad into the theatre, so when the movie starts he tries to figure out where he can put it, so he puts it under his seat. with the thing still on. apparently at the end of the movie he realized his ipad wasnt under his seat. someone had stolen it. so the guy goes to an employee to complain about it. @Omegaulas I don't think you're overreacting, but the battery power impressed me especially. It's a 10 hour battery life compared to that of a laptops which is about 3 hours? You can get a dock which lets it stand up, but then again, I don't see myself needing to have it stand up, it'll probably be on my lap most of the time anyway. I'm an anti-Apple consumer. However, iPad is the future. Maybe not this product exactly, but Tablets are the new-gen for our society. They wanted to bring out a product that was cutting-edge in what we see tablets as, however I personally can and will wait until I see something that is more a laptop and not an enlarged iTouch.

Fuck the Ipod there are far better Mp3 and 4 players on the market that dont break easily and have just as good features for instance i almost bought the Ipod classic but at last minute bought a SAMSUNG spy3 touch it has been run over by a light truck and still works. But in all mp3 suck the best way to enjoy music is on a system with Vinyl records or cd. The only good thing an mp3 is good for is when you are on the move.
