Should've just held onto the rocks, leaned into it, and stood your ground. The water coming over the rock was no more powerful than 2-3 foot shorebreak. Sure it can push you around but is not in danger of knocking you over if you take action.

Just a couple of days later another tourist got swept off the rocks at a place called the Moi Hole where several people have died. A lifeguard had to jump off of a 25 foot cliff into the water a great risk to his life to save him.
