  • JUST AWSOME

  • What a pace. Classic disco.

  • @ScunneredMan Disco?

  • @presencefm Yes DISCO. UK shorthand for Discotheque. but no one talks of going to the Disco nowadays. I am showing my age 62. Now peoplegot to the Club.

  • Too bad you don't own that single -- it's worth 15,000 quid...

  • This song is for the love of my life who I so foolishly let go 24 years ago. We are back together again and I love her as much now as I did back in 1987. The lost years have thrown up complications we have to overcome but we will make it together.

Sue I love you, always have always will

  • @eagleinblack Good man...shes seein sense...cool.Be happy !! Good luck!

  • @eagleinblack What a lovely thing to say, I applaud you for it. I am the same and if there is something to say from the heart then say it. I once too let someone go, and as much as I think of them now, and I'm sure they occasionally think of me, we are destined never to be together once again, but that is life, and we have to think positive, and move forward. Still it is so nice to have happy memories and those I can cherish for always. Good luck to you both and be strong together

  • indeed i do :-DX

  • @presencefm it is a motown record...lol it even says it on the SOUL label...on the right hand side if you dont believe me..."a trademark of Motown record corp" ..convinced..?

  • @macilvena - first release was on motown but got pulled ,,so this record is worth 15k if you got one of the origanal 1st pressings ???????

  • @presencefm ///// strange that just had a quick look through my record collection & guess what ???? Black Tamla label Frank Wilson DO i love you !!!!

  • brill just brill

  • epitome of dance

  • two copies and the master survived..........wow!!! this must been another motown hit, but ooh well the mystery or story must be told by frank wilson!!

  • Awww your dad! :)

  • Only 2 vinyl copies of this in the world.

  • @uihx Isn't it worth something like £20,000 now?

Be honest - everyone of you has a hopeful look for this one, whenever you're at a record fair or a car boot sale, right? God knows I do!

  • @GedKelly1999 Yeah £20,000 both know copies are in UK with record dealers as far i know. One Scotland and one in Coventry i think, but not certain. They are only KNOWN vinyl copies. I reckon there is more than 2 vinyl copies but there whereabouts are unknown. For all we know they could be anywhere. Old cellar somewhere or attic. Who knows. Like you say. There might just be a vinyl copy hanging about at a carboot with someone who has no knowledge of its value.

  • This is a classic. :) Thanks for upload.

  • i'll second and third punka1992.

  • love this track

  • It sounds like the music tracks on Chris Clark's version and Frank Wilson's version are identical, maybe mixed a bit different and if my ear aren't deceiving me the Chris Clark version was mixed in mono and Franks was mixed in stereo. Both versions are great but IMHO Frank's is sung better.

  • Played on Radio 2 wednesday morning at 7.15 great sound to start the day!!!

  • 8 dislikes? Probably Justin Beiber

  • It was released in the UK on November 9th 1979 on Tamla Motown TMG 1170.

  • just pure northern love it to death big stomper even now ktf

  • Just love this song, thanks for posting.

  • i was only a young lad when wigan was in its hay day but my older brother used to go up there from notts, so i used to listen to this music growing up. classic stuff

  • superb!

  • Look,at the end of the day, this song was an anthem to all of us who had the privelidge to be around at Wigan etc. at such a mesmerising time.

  • Look,at the end of the day, this is an anthem for all of us who had the privelidge to be at Wigan etc. at the time when it was mesmurising!

  • I love this song

  • its disgusting that we in the UK have made this record iconic for money. I'd sooner let it stay as a period in time that if others like it.so be it. The idiots that attribute dollars to it have no musical knowledge, and no appreciation of a musician/singer of the time. They idolize Wilson the same way they idolize a foreign footballer that has no identity to their 'club'. They don't understand mowtown or its history.

  • I have known this record for 30 yrs and still play it nearly every day it is so joyful it makes you happy

  • they say its the rarest record

  • KTF!

  • Instant intoxication. This song is the antidote to depression. F A B ! !

  • Thumbs up if this song reminds you of your amazing dad. FUCKING LOVE YOU, YOU OLD FART.

  • Thank you so much for posting this Motown dance classic!! Anyone know why this cool record made no chart showing to speak of in 1965? Such a great & rare song. See also the Monitors~Number One In Your Heart~V.I.P. .............................. DAVEDJ

  • @Multi1628 this isnt motown

if you want motown go listen to james brown

this is northern soul mate :)

  • @DanielGillett1 "Soul" is a Motown label. I know what Northern Soul is. Already listen to James Brown as well??????

  • @DanielGillett1 Northern Soul is just a term for the records that were popular in the North of England. Motown is a record label specialising in Soul/Pop of which 'Soul' was a subsidiary. LOOK ON THE RECORD - IT SAYS 'MOTOWN (c)1965. James Brown NEVER signed to motown he was on 'Atlantic' which is a completely separate label. The majority of northern soul was from the labels 'Motown' or 'Stax'. If you are going to pretend care about music enough to correct someone please get your facts right

  • Comment removed

  • @joechiari Actually, James Brown never recorded for Atlantic Records. He recorded mainly for the Cincinnati based King Records. And while I agree that there were many Northern Soul-styled records coming out of Motown, Stax specialised in a grittier, earthier incarnation of soul music and rather few Stax records have seen play by Northern Soul DJ's during the years.

  • Whatever

  • @joechiari Im afraid Most Northern soul records had nothing to do with Motown or stax labels .

They were from mainly obscure local labels and non hits of major labels like Capitol or RCA

  • @joechiari funnily enough "northern soul" actually is a term for records that were played in the soul clubs in the North and Midlands during the late 60s and mainly early 70s. the term is now terribly overused and many quality soul sounds from the early and mid 60s that were popular on the mod scene are now termed northern soul. i find this particularly galling as a DJ from the mod scene who plays Stateside, London, Motown, Stax, Atlantic, Sue, etc and they are now "northern" soul records.

  • @rearly62

does it matter what anyone terms it as? - its soul ...end of! ;-)

  • @DanielGillett1 you stupid twat, this is mowtown that the english got hold of........learn the facts ffs....it was demo'd in detroit but never fully released. you know fuck all.

  • aw, i found it dead sweet you made this for your dad :') good sooong!

  • The Holy Grail of Motown Northern Soul......first released in 1965, then pulled off the market in the US. But turned out to be a bonafide classic in England....Goes to prove that the UK have appreciation of R&B than we do here.....what a shame!

  • @tljones9 true

    NAMASTE :)

  • Probably the biggest find at The Casino.11/10!

  • One of the best if not the best Northern Soul anthem ever

    KEEP THE FAITH

  • This song was released in the US then pulled from the market......not only is this a collector's item, but it is considered the Holy Grail of Northern Soul music.....

  • @tljones9 250 copies were pressed and then destroyed (Frank decided to carry on producing instead of singing), amazingly 2 (known) copies survived the trashing. One copy sold for £25,000 in 2009.

  • This music always reminds me of Margaret Gurney from Abbey Grange School, Leeds, what a faboulous lady. I wish I could see her again. Martin

  • @thetubberlad hahahha fuccckin kid that.... pureeeeeee shittttt. this is realllll music

  • Comment removed

  • @thetubberlad i'm no fan of Bieber myself, but anyone who feels the need to point out that he's a little untalented shit in EVERY decent music video on YT is as irritating as him.

  • @zarkbot88 MORE irritating, because at least Bieber has an excuse (making boatloads of moolah).

  • @thetubberlad

    So true!

  • @thetubberlad The Best EVER ,,

  • most people into soul these days aint got a clue, posers whove got bored of rolls royces..more people talk about the value of this record than frank wilson himself..ive stopped using the term northern soul, its a fashion statement, i just use soul, its too trendy..and i dont mind distancing myself from fakes..

  • Do I love you?

    Indeed I do!

    Fabxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • One sold last week on ebay for £89 thousand.

    Good investment imo.

  • @SAIGONDISCO

who gives a f*ck you nerd, what about the content, as you can get this record easily..wasnt 89thousand anyway.also, bad investment because if another turns up its value is halved instantly, which happened already...know facts..its only an average record anyway, and you rich nerds need to grow up as well, and stop making trophy records just to satisfy your egoes...no record is worth 25 thousand pounds, thats just what some pop star paid for it..

  • classic tune...nuff saidx

  • @sarahwager1 Indeed

  • You did good Jemma your dad should be proud of you This is pure CLASS

  • This is the original Motown single from 1965.. in this version he sings 'Whenever l lay me down to sleep I pray the Lord YOUR soul to keep' .. in the modern remix, Frank seems to have forgotten the words, as he sings in that version, 'Whenever I lay me down to sleep I pray the Lord MY soul to keep..

  • BRINGS BACK MY LIFE AS A TEENAGER TOP TUNE

  • what a song soul soarin an i am what a mood lifter thanks

  • the 7 inch origional of this is worth roughly £10000. There were only a few thousand pressed and remains a collectors dream to own one :-]

  • @tuffy966 it was in 1 of the national papers last year that 1 fetched 25k, my work mate loves his northern soul and showed me the paper clipping. OMG imagine owning that lol

  • this vinyl is worth too much money

  • what a lovely thing to do for your Dad.Bet he really appreciated it? Great wigan classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A joyous slice of Northern Soul for a Friday night

  • In my opinion the version posted by IanLevine has a much better production and a more uplifting feel to it. Not sure which is the original.

  • @philboism this one is, trust me "mr levine" just remixes tunes to suit how HE would like them to sound !!!! and he's been doing it for twenty five years !!!!!

  • legendary

  • NOT THE BEST VERSION

  • @philboism( is)
