I really didn't think the remake was bad--in fact, I quite enjoyed it. I don't think there's anything wrong with liking both. They're simply different. And of course, the original is better, but the American redo was by no means bad. I feel like people have just decided to hate it because it's a remake and American. And no, I'm not American.

I must admit that I have not seen the American remake, but how could anyone do a remake without "Riget" (The Kingdom) as the setting ? It would lose the atmosphere of the show.

I'm italian and I'm an huge fan of "The Kingdom-Riget". Lars Von Trier is a true genius and this series is very spooky and rich of dark humour. The american remake of "The Kingdom" is really sloppy and totally sucks.

@Bolsjevikpirayan You know how american producers and screenplayers use to work. They buy copyrights of a brilliant and original european tv series or movie and they make a remake. So they think to be clever and sly. But they make a remake absolutely awful without any artistic or original innovation. They just want to make money adopting foreign movies for american audience. They don't give a damn about art, they have just no ideas and so they steal ideas from other directors.

Von Trier is able to mix satire, humor and macabre in a unique way ^^

...And if we add to the great suspens in the story Lars' deep social comments on bureaucreacry of modern medicine, lack of sensibility of doctors in current health hospitals in a welfare country as Denmark (and it's antagonism against Sweden!), good actors, music and love affair thru Dogma lenses, we have the perfect thriller.
