Hey quick question. I have a MIDI keyboard with keys that light up when pressed. (Casio Lk-220) When I connect it to GarageBand, works fine, but is it possible to play back and see the notes being played on the keyboard? For instance, let's say I finish a piano song on GarageBand. Then I press play on GarageBand, can the notes light up on the keyboard? As if a "ghost" is playing it. Get back at me anybody.
but what about midi-out? i used to be able to sync my microkorg tempos by selecting a software instrument, then i would clck the "details" triangle in the lower left hand corner of the panel. Then, from the generator menu choose "Midi Out"... but!!!!!!! that was when i had tiger. now i have the new macbook and this new version of gargeband doesnt have the "details? or midiout option or at least i cant find it tho .... help.
right i have a microkorg and am maybe getting some midi connectors and all that, how would i make garageband record the microkorg, but still using the presets on the microkorg, because they sound sick
Thanks for the note. To answer your questions, I did need to install the driver for the usb midi box. I do not have a special sound card. I'm using a macbook pro and there is no latency. It's a sweet program running on a sweet machine!
@hertzum If your using midi, you need no drivers. If you were to use a midi contorller through Usb, which is possible, you might need a driver. But if going through straight up midi cable, no driver is necessary.
You forgot to mention the most important part which would be installing drivers. Especially for casio, and when using an interface there is also the midi setup application which you would use to connect the devices. Good overall video.
hi i useing the typing keyboard on GB and wondering how to remove the "echo" sound you get ? i heard you didnt have it in you tutorial so do you know how to remove it ?
can you explain me how to save it as a midi file, anyone?

if you hook up an AX-1 or AX7 to garageband, can you still program how much you can bend the pitch?

What MIDI to usb connection do you use?

Do you think this set-up would work with an electronic drumset with a midi out connection?
capitalsfan4ever 2 years ago
@capitalsfan4ever Most definitely! Thats the point of midi, so all instruments can interact.

Nice video. I have af few questions:
Did you need any drivers? Do you have a special soundcard or are you just using the onboard soundcard on the mac? Is there any noticeable latency?
