Pink Floyd has great musical ability that you can feel. They touch on human emotion and psychology better than any other band I have heard.....And they have technical ability as well. Listen to Gilmour play his guitar solos (eg comfortably numb ending). Always bending but for a reason. You can feel it

PF however, doesnt satisfy either standards in my view. And while yes Gilmour might be good at guitar, any soloing he has ever done has long been surpased by gazzilion other guitar players.

Thealbum is underrated because it leaves you feeling ...not 'up'. One feels sort of the same as after having been scolded. Floyd were good song craftsmen by then, and certainly deserved to change directions if they felt like it, but I like the last two LPs better. Sheep has Gilmour's best licks on the album driving what is essentially a straight-ahead rock song with PF musical stylings (like many a Yes song).
