Haven't seen enough to really feel like I have a good idea, but at least it didn't look so immediately and outright horrible as I feared it might. This could go either way at this point but I'm not very optimistic, mostly just because this series has so much baggage at this point with an unpleasable fanbase, a now defunct group of creators and a history of \being handed off to people who don't really get what the hell the series is about or why they shouldn't constantly ripoff SH2/the movie.

Annoying how they thought they could replace the first Silent Hill with this very diffent game. IceWorld instead of Otherworld? No thank you. I've beat all the games and like most of em'. Part 5 was the least fun because you don't unlock that many suits and weapons. It doesn't have much replay value. The Room was the scariest because of the invulnerable victoms whom float after you. Part 1-3 just had horrible gameplay, BUT, really good plots. Perhaps an unpredicatble plot is all the newer Silent Hills are missing. Well, Shattered Memories was missing weapons. Actually, I didn't like SM gameplay at all because of the missing weapons.

@Chimangooo The thing that was great about the Silent Hill franchise before 4 was that they didn't give it new features. It stayed loyal to what it was, and it WORKED. Same town, same menu, same camera set up, same same same. The only thing that changed was the graphics of it, and the story line (though even that was consistent). As soon as they start changing things up to make it "new and fresh", it gets gimmicky and loses everything Silent Hill was about.

Ok, for everyone that says that this is "Alan Fake" (lmao at that name BTW), take this in consideration. He's getting attacked by multiple enemies with a chair as a weapon which forces him to flee, since it's not that effective. If this would've been Alan, then he'd just bring up a flashlight and kill them with his gun.

It looks promising, I've read that you won't be able to hold more than one weapon at a time so this might go back to Survival Horror and not shoot em up. Avoid rather than fight.

I think the series is becoming too action oriented and really losing the psychological aspects that made the games so popular in the past. Plus, the main characters (especially in SHH and SHO) are defined as being very masculine... too masculine actually. Remember that these developers are also huge SH fans, and they are doing everything in their power to create a genuinely horrifying and unique experience. Can we all wait until E3 before critiquing certain gameplay aspects?
