dude your tutorial is the best out there, know I really understand my meter, and i really wanna have your fluke meters, but i'm stuck with a $25 meter from radioshack, although it still works well!
1:15 is wrong, there are DMM or multi-meters that use the same socket for the test probe for both voltage and current, switching is internal. Usually for higher current there is a separate socket for the test lead.
3:20 simple way to say it is voltage measurement is in parallel and current is in series.
hi i have a sykkes-pickavant multimeter i want to check if there is not bad circuit in my underfloor heating mat. can you tell me which symbol to use on the multimeter to check that plz?
What you need for that is the continuity setting ... do some searches for more info the symbol looks a little like this -))) .
You can tell if it works by putting the negative and positive leads together and you should get a beeping sound (if your multimeter supports continuity testing)
If you have a dual power supply, than you have a positive, a negative and a ground pole (+1V; -1V; 0V). You can say that ground (0V) is more negative than the positive pole (+1V), additionaly in dual power supplies ground (0V) is more positive than the negative pole (-1V). Mostly ground ist also connected to earth, like in a oszilloskope or switching power supplies. If you use a power supply with a transformator, ground is not connected to earth.
A power supply can be connected to Earth-ground...well i know there are special transformators that are completely seperated, but my power supply ahs a yellow green earth GND input

Your vid is the only one I found that actually SHOWS the viewers which symbol to turn the dial to for measuring the corresponding unit. GREAT JOB man!
Can you also tell us what the other 4-5 symbols measure on the multimeter?

"Ground is Negative" this is wrong!
