Esperanto isn't an artificial language. It was devised to be a universal international language. Not unlike the metric system as a universal international system of measurement.
i think the key part is here...the demon, Kia tempts Mark to follow her...as his sister is left..eventually blinding herself....she, too was warned, but dared to "look into darkness" (the eclipse). The film plays on several levels (although the horribly spoken Esperanto detracts from it, not adding to it)
