If we in the UK had it our way we would have left the EU by now, two prime ministers in a row have now promised a vote on the EU during their election campaigns and have gone back on it when they have come to power. Namely Gordon Brown and David Cameron

As for me personally in or out of the EU I don't really care, but a vote is needed. I agree, Germany is capable of building a large military

World War One mutinous members of the French Army let down the British & Commonwealth forces in Flanders. Battle of Trafalgar they did a runner leaving it to the Spanish who at least put up a fight. Together the British and German armed forces would be the most efficient fighting force the planet has ever known and our politicians have decided we can trust the French this time when the next crises occurs. Something stinks somewhere as nobody in Britain wants or trusts the French as Allies.

In 1939 France had a large modern military force. They refused to utilise their Airforce & left it to the RAF. Their surrendered to the Germans after just 6 weeks of fighting leaving the British cut off at Dunkirk. Once the Germans beat the French the British firmly requested they sail their Navy to British ports so the Nazis could not double their own Navy in size. The French who were supposed to be our Allies refused, so the British had to sink their Navy in French ports. Dont we ever learn ?

Actually this military deal is not against Germany. It's mainly to slash the costs of military spendings on both sides, for example nuclear weapons maintenance.
