  • The dancers and stars of this time were far better than the dancers of today! Everyone looks and moves the same way !!!

  • Those arms, that face, that back! Always fabulous.

  • The only thing missing are the flying feathers done back in 1957. I remember how she leaped out from back stage and the feathers flew ever so lightly. I have not seen that done since then. It is so effective.

  • Actually she is thinner and her interpretation more refined than the 1958 filming that has been put out on VHS and DVD by Kultur and VAI. That film is directed by a hack who probably was used to doing documentaries on collective farms and not ballet. He cuts away from Plisetskaya to the good comrades in the audience at her entrance! This is a much better representation of her Odette.

  • I would love to watch this complete film... I have the one from 58 you talk about, and I didn´t like the editing, but I loved some close ups to her face, important ones, like when she laughs at the prince... she is amazing every time, and thanks for sharing this...

  • Wonder when was it taken? Why she seems "fatty" in the tutu?! But she is always my super super star, I love her ;-)))

  • She is not fat. It is the size of screen. She is over 50 there. It was taken between 1976-77. One of her last complete performances of Swan lake.

  • It is not just the screen. These were real women, not the matchstick-legged anorexics of today.
