The way Tomoya holds Nagisa's cheeks at 1:40 is just a pure wonderful love gesture. It's like he's checking if she's really right here in front of him, trying to feel her presence and never let it go again...

Heck, the fact they never kiss is part of the best things in the series. I mean, the bond between those two is so strong, they don't even need kisses or any other "proof" like that...

@AKHTSnoZONE I agree. That's one of the reasons I love this anime. It's nice for once seeing an innocent relationship between 2 characters without the "physical" aspect of it. Besides, I'm sure they did kissed and whatnot but behind the scenes. I mean, come on, they HAD A BABY TOGETHER. lol...nuff said.

It makes me sad when people whine and complain about that as being the negative part of series when I see it as one of the positives.

I know that Ano Hana is supposed to rival Clannad, but Ano Hana couldn't make me cry as much as Clannad has, and I'm a HUGE cry baby.

And I also know that in the original game, you had the option to end up with other characters, but I can only really see Tomoya with Nagisa. ;; I know this sounds dumb to some of you, but after seeing such beautiful scenes between them, and such an innocent romance, I can't bear to think of them with other people.

i don't think you can truly cry about how sad this anime was, unless you watch the entire thing start to finish. but it's not about how sad it is. because anyone can wtahc this and relate to at least one character. it's the way they lived their lives in the show, that should inspire others to have that much fun in life, because life can end in an instant, and it's too short to spend wondering "What if i did this?"

Tomoya was given a second chance with NAGISA AND USHIO thanks to the light, legend was that if u catch the light you'll be granted a wish, Tomoya went thru so much that the light came to him ! It already knew what he longed for (to have a happy family) and it granted him his wish when Ushio died in the snow

Clannad After Story is one of my favorite anime series ever. I've never been as emotionally moved by an anime before. But I have to say I absolutely hated the ending. Killing off a character is a very serious move, it creates a lot of drama, and it should never be something you can just take back after that drama has successfully been created. The anime should have ended with Nagisa dying but Ushio surviving, and then this scene as a good bye before he continues living together with Ushio.

@subiechan1995 the japanese, とても幸せでした、literally means "I was completely happy/content". it is in the past tense; in context, I think it is translated correctly. I'm not sure about the interpretation, though.

Clannad really is a beautiful story. For me it's probably the best anime/visual novel I have ever watched/read but I'm quite sure that I'll never want to watch/read it again. It's just has so strong emotional effects on me.

It's been two years allready when I watched both seasons and I really can't remember the plot that well... I don't know why, but tears just started to flow in the middle of this vid. It's a little bit scary :o

Watched both. Clannad was a much better anime. I think there were some pretty clear flaws in AnoHana, and though Clannad had some, they weren't as obvious. Both were enjoyable, though. Somehow, I didn't even cry during AnoHana...guess I wasn't too attached to the characters. With Clannad though, I did like 6 times.

2 things: the best clannad scene (imo) happens next to this one when nagisa awakes.

2nd: stop talking if people who don't cry at clannad aren't humans. Everyone has different likes & minds & someone's simply don't match this kind of show/story. In fact, my favorite thing in animes is their stories, therefore I really loved this show. But I have some friends that prefer battles & epic moments & that would probably say this show is too girly. That doesn't mean they're unhuman, just different.

For this entire scene, I sat with eyes wet and wide open, but not really crying... then, in the scene after, with Nagisa waking up, I just started sobbing so hard I was shaking, gasping for air.

There is no anime, of any type or time, that is better than Clannad. It is near perfection, an emotial loop with great characters, amazing story, hilarious jokes and horribly sad moments. Just... brilliant.
